1. Heredity- is the process that makes living
things grow to look like their parents.
2. Diversity- a range of different things.
3. Trait- a distinguishing quality or characteristic,
typically one belonging to a person.
4. Parent- a father or a mother.
5. Gene-a unit of heredity that is transferred from
a parent to offspring and is held to determine
some characteristic of the offspring.
4. Mendel is known as the "father of
modern genetics”. His observations
became the foundation of modern
genetics and the study of heredity,
and he is widely considered a
pioneer in the field of genetics.
5. Punnett Square
• A Punnett square is a chart which
shows/predicts all possible gene combinations in
a cross of parents (whose genes are known).
Punnett squares are named for an English
geneticist, Reginald Punnett.
