NPCIL is a government-owned corporation in India responsible for nuclear power generation. It was created in 1987 to design, construct, maintain, and operate nuclear power stations pursuant to government of India schemes and programs. The corporation is certified to ISO 14000 environmental management standards. It has 10 directors and a company secretary on its board, with backgrounds in engineering, finance, human resources, and law. The board oversees NPCIL's nuclear power plant construction, commissioning, and operations across India.
