This document outlines efforts over several years to improve security and sanitation around a school in rural India. Initially, the school was surrounded by agricultural fields with no perimeter walls, and students faced issues with snakes and people using the area as an open toilet. Through raising awareness, collecting funds, and working with local officials, a compound wall was eventually built around the school in 2014 using government funds. This has made the school safer and more secure.

MAKING OUR SCHOOL SURROUNDING
A SECURE PLACE TO LIVE IN
Change can not be done OVERNIGHT
BUT
By continuous effort for years POSSIBLE
2014
2. 1. FEEL
* Our school is surrounded by agricultural fields in three
sides and two wells nearby.
* We don’t have compound walls around our school.
* The major problem we face in our school is frequent
visit of harmful reptiles mostly snakes of venomous kind.
*Another problem we face is people nearby use school
surrounding as the open toilet and garbage area .
4. 2. IMAGINE - Ideas we received are:
* Creating awareness among public regarding campus clean.
* Student’s active participation in campus cleaning.
* Collecting fund from parents and making compound.
* Bringing this problem to the knowledge of the higher officials of
district or union level, asking them to take further steps.
* Giving petition to village president.
* Giving petition to Panchayat Union Councilor.
* Cost of making compound comes around 3-5 lakhs so it is hard to
collect money from parents, since most of the people are economically
poor.
6. 3. DO
• Our Panchayat union councilor said that there is a
plan called ‘thai thittam’ from state government.
• Our Panchayat union councilor arranged fund from the
above plan.
• With that fund compound wall has been built around
our school with grill gate.
• Now our school is safer than before
10. 4. SHARE
• We shared this change among students and thanked
our councilor for this change he has made for us.
• We also shared this with www.challenge.dfcworld.com
through proper channel
