Volumen de un prisma.
1. Definiciones básicas.
Volumen: Es el espacio que ocupa un cuerpo.
La unidad de medida en el sistema internacional es el metro cubico (m3).
Prisma: Cuerpo geométrico formado por dos caras planas
poligonales, paralelas e iguales, que se llaman bases, y tantas caras
rectangulares como lados tiene cada base. Los prismas reciben su nombre de acuerdo al polígono de sus bases.
Partes de un prisma.
Caras laterales: son los rectángulos que se forman en el prisma, la cantidad de caras laterales coincide con el
numero de lados del polígono de base.
Aristas: son las líneas de intersección entre las caras laterales y las bases.
Vértices: son las esquinas formadas en el prisma.
2. Cálculode volúmenes.
Para calcular el volumen de un prisma se tiene que calcular el área de la base y multiplicarlo con la altura.
Ejemplo: ¿Cuál es el volumen del siguiente prisma?
Solución: Calculamos el Área de la base Ab= 8 x 5= 40 cm2.
Entonces V= 40 x 10 = 400 cm3.
Ejemplo 2: ¿Cuál es el volumen del siguiente prisma?
Solución: calculando área de la base 𝐴𝑏 =

= 10 cm2, por ser un triangulo se
divide entre dos.
Calculando el volumen del prisma V=10 x 15= 150 cm3.
Ejemplo 3: ¿Cuál es el volumen del siguiente prisma?
Solución: calculando el área de la base, en el caso de los polígonos con numero de
lados mayor a 4 lados la fórmula es 𝐴𝑏 =

= 90.8125 𝑐𝑚2
Calculando el volumen V=90.8125 x 14 = 1271.375 cm3
Ejemplo 4: Calcula el volumen de un cubo cuyaarista mide 5 cm.
Solución: calculamos el área de la base Ab= 5 x 5 = 25 cm2 y luego calculamos su volumen V= 25 x 5 = 125 cm3,
es decir que en un cubo de 5 cm por arista existen 125 cubos de 1cm de arista.
