The Bad Guys (Episode 1), written by Aaron Blabey, is about four bad animals on their journey to
be good guys. It has both pictures and words. This book has received a lot of positive reviews and
has also won two awards (Blabey, 2015). We are able to convey feelings, ideas and concepts through
written language and visual images (Callow, 2013). The text and images in The Bad Guys let us
laugh when we are reading it. Callow (2013), the work of linguist Michael Halliday suggests that
each text, whether written or visual can be asked by field, tenor and mode. The three areas of
register are written and drawn perfectly which in turn allows us to understand the text and images

technological advancement. The main character, Simon Kress, lives in apparent abundance, with all
the art pieces, ancient artifacts, exotic animals he wants in a sprawling manor. Such a convenient
and indulgent environment deteriorates around him, however. He soon finds himself back in
unforgiving nature, hungry and crawling due to his own actions. Through this development, George
R. R. Martin explores the savage nature of humanity. Their fragile status at the top of the food chain
is threatened by their thirst for entertainment and power, leading to the main character's downfall at

The Piranha River Story is a compelling short story about the love between Beyoncé and Pat. We
are told how the bridge between the two shores is destroyed and Beyonce has to make a particular
sacrifice to Gilligan for her to be able to be with Pat,who is separated from her by a river full of
hungry piranhas. This story has all types of twists and turns that display the true colors of each
character involved. I personally believe that Bubba could be categorized as the most horrible for
beating Pat in the manner he did. I don't think it was actually necessary to have a violent encounter

The Amazon Rainforest Covering more than forty percent of South America is the Amazon
Rainforest. It's known for being the largest rainforest on the planet. Most of the jungle lies in Brazil.
The Amazon Rainforest also holds the Amazon River. According to the National Science
Foundation, the Aamazon Rriver is the longest river in the world by volume and contains twenty
percent of the Earth's freshwater. But the Nile River is the longest when calculating width. Being as
big a it is, the Aamazon holds a massive number of different types of species of wildlife with
different kinds of sub–ecosystems to provide for them. When I think of the Amazon I first think of
the terrestrial ecosystems. These are the land based environments. I'm going to take the first part of
this project to talk about the terrestrial ecosystem in the Aamazon and all the wildlife that it holds.
According to WorldAtlas there are 427 types of mammals, 1,300 types of birds, 378 types of
reptiles, more than 400 kinds of amphibians, over 80,000 types of plants and trees, and estimation of
over 2 million different types of insects. Unfortunately, I cannot go over every single one of these
unique species so I will talk about the more popular species that benefit the jungle. The rainforest is

body shaking as I sit on the slippery leather seat.This isn 't going to end well I say to myself,
imagining me slipping off of the seat and getting ran over by another boat." Hold on!" he is shouting
at me over the loud noise. As I squeeze his waist I can feel the jet ski jerk us as we start to move. I
can feel my stomach drop while my uncle speeds up. All of a sudden he starts to spin around in
circles doing a 360! A 360 is when you spin around into a full circle. When you turn your body tilts
to the middle making you feel like you are going to fall off.I squeeze his waist even harder as we get
lower into the water, as if we were in a whirlpool. When he lets go of the handlebars, a little water
runs into the feet rests. Finally we are out, I take a deep breath and relax. But the ride was only
beginning..... Right now since we are taking a 30 second stop, I can see a catfish that looks like a

Usually I am not afraid to see fish, and go on a jet ski. I think I am just scared because I know how

Unlike many regular fisherman, an extreme angler fishes for greater purposes in the worst
conditions. Jeremy Wade, a marine biologist and extreme angler, helps conservation by teaching
tribesmen new tricks, studying fish species, and broadcasting his research worldwide. By fishing
everyday, Jeremy Wade has come about new styles, secrets, and tricks for the fishing world.
Growing up in East India, Jeremy wade used his access to the River Stour to his advantage learning
about freshwater fish and becoming the fisherman he is today. After many years of fishing from his

After many days of fishing, Wade finally caught a 113 pound Wels catfish that had two jawbones
limiting its ability to eaht and do many day to day tasks. But after much research to the fish it was
discovered that all the river needed was a lower ph level to stop the mutation. The mutation is
currently being worked to this day to save the local population of the Wels catfish species. Although
his research helped out that species, there are some incidents where his research doesn't always go
as planned. When fishing for the giant freshwater stingray in the Amazon river, Wade had failed
attempt after failed attempt to catch this elusive freshwater beast. After catching many different
freshwater catfish species Wade finally caught his stingray but wasn't quite the moments he was
looking for. Weeks later, Wade caught his giant he was looking for weighing in at just over 500
pounds. But while placing a tracker into the wing of the ray, the ray died due to the high levels of
stress placed on the creature. But like many other jobs it needed to be understood that not all
attempts will be successful. Although the animal was harmed, Wade didn't give up on his attempts to
catching a returning his giant ray the the water safely for research. Finally after almost two months
into his journey for the ultimate ray, Wade caught and released a 541 pound ray that was seven feet

Piraranhas Research Paper
My Angle on Angling Piranhas (sp. Piraña) Anytime you mention the Amazon River it doesn't take
long before someone brings up Piranhas. For the most part, these toothy little buggers have gotten a
bad rap from movies and other media venues. Piranhas rarely attack nor do they specifically seek
out humans. In doing research for this trip I ran across the adage "Piranhas do not eat people, people
eat piranha." People seem to overlook the idea that the people of the Amazon have bathed in Piranha
infested water for thousands of years. A good example of this is Jeremy Wade's demonstration of

easy to catch so I'm challenging myself to catch three different species: Red Bellied Piranhas (the

heavy at 50lb. I was skeptical at first on the Pacu being that heavy but a quick look at world records

I have caught a bit of everything on these lures. From Catfish in the New River to Pike in Canada. I
have even caught Carp on a Joe's Flies. They are also made here in my home state of WV! My
second choice will be some sort of Rooster Tale. I have had nearly the same success on them as Joe's
Flies. The Roosters are more flexible as to weight and easier to control without binding up during
the cast. Although you can clamp a split shot about 10" up the line to add some weight, Joe's Flies
are the more delicate of the two. I'd place them in the finesse category although that's normally

How I Felt Something Change?
I meant every word I had just said. I felt something change in me. I knew I was fully covered in that
thick skin Julia had warned me I would need. The bottom line was that these two men and my life

Amur Tiger Diets
Our animals were all wildly different and include: the Amur tiger, bottlenose dolphin, California sea
lion, clouded leopard, the okapi, Orinoco crocodile, tawny frogmouth, red bellied piranha, and
roadrunners. All of these animals have very different diets consisting of different foods from
different habitats. They all have adaptations in the mouth and the area surrounding it on each of their

Personal Narrative: A Day In Tennessee
The morning was shining brightly with a nice ninety degree weather day. Friends from Florida were
visiting for the week. Today was our splash zone day where we go to The Great Lakes Military Base

Having watched a video in relation to Seb, sharks and fishes, this summary will show how Seb
interacted with his mother using emergent literacy skills. In the video Seb shows great interest in the
creation of his shark. Seb seems quite excited when making the shark and as all his attention seems
to be on his work of art as his imagination runs wild creating a story line for his masterpiece. Seb
was very expressive with his language use. He was very fluent with his vocabulary and has a good

This was helpful as it assured me that I had addressed the criteria. Although the feedback I received
were positive, I feel the need for some minor improvements for future podcasts. I would ensure
when recording my next podcast that I pace myself a little better rather than rushing the recording
where I believe I was talking too fast. I tried to fit in all my work, maybe too much information on
the podcast and if children were my target audience, I may lose their focus. Children don't all learn
and engage at the same rate so to ensure this does not continue in my future podcasts I must break
down the information and speak in a manner that is easily understood. The key elements of

that in the process he does not become a monster." Monsters can be absolutely horrific to anyone.
They come in many different forms; there are the typical horror story monsters, despicable human
beings, substance abusers, and the thoughts that go through one's mind every day.
Typically, horror stories feature vicious creatures that are not quite human. They often have some
sort of supernatural power or unusual feature that adds a sense of danger and makes them truly

called Blurryface. Blurryface is literally a personified version of Joseph's insecurities. Blurryface

The history of Suriname's independence and their lucrative mountains of gold is complicated and
treacherous. Indigenous Tribes originally inhabited Suriname, and by the late 1650's the Governor of
Barbados, Lord Willoughby settled a colony called "Willoughbyland." Lord Willoughby began
construction on multiple plantations and in slaved thousands of Africans and indigenous people. The
colony was invaded in 1667 by the Dutch who established the official name of the colony as
'Suriname.' In 1863 as slavery was being abolished, small–scale gold mining commenced. As
Suriname gained independence in 1975 with prospects of gold triggering the second gold rush. The
beginning of small–scale indigenous miners and foreign large–scale mining corruption influenced
global environmental inequality in Suriname. In 2000, Ouboter et al. (2012) stated in his case study
that the Geological and Mining Survey of Suriname (GMD) estimated that the number of small–
scale gold miners in Suriname was between 25,000 and 35,000. (873) Gold mining in Suriname is
the most significant source of employment and main export of product in the country, because of

use mercury to extract gold because it is the cheapest and easiest way to turn the product into profit.

It was a sunny day, but I was shivering from fear. While the rest of my family was getting into their

I felt like running into the boathouse, knocking out the sailor, and sailing all the way home. But for
some stupid reason, I didn't. Suddenly, I slammed into a mass of fat and blubber. For a second, I

New Jersey has had its share of water scares in the past week as Pacu fish have been caught in a
freshwater lake and a deadly Portuguese Man of War have washed ashore from the ocean. Is water

Did you know that Colombia is named after Christopher Columbus? He saw the coasts of what is
now Venezuela, Colombia, and Panama in 1492. He saw the beautiful landscape, and the amazing
diversity of the wildlife and plants. Colombia has maintained these amazing qualities to this day.

There are many landforms in Colombia, each fitting into ecosystems that are intricately unique. The

For a well–educated, successful man from the United States, the switch to Peruvian jungle culture
jarred him. Nothing that Todd had accomplished in his studies could scrape a bit of respect out of
the natives. "That I went to college was sort of... 'huh, I guess that's cool'. What college? Didn't
matter. Graduate school? Did not matter. It was can you farm, can you fish," Dr. Davis told me.
"People would literally, like an old Western, look at your hands when they met you. You'd shake
hands with somebody, and they'd take your hands and turn them over, to see your calluses." As a
weight lifter since a young age, Todd had those calluses, as well as the strength to farm, fish, and
canoe; his canoeing skill especially surprised the natives. He had picked up a formidable canoeing
ability from summer camps and boat trips in his past, and the fact that a white person could canoe as
well as Todd shocked the villagers he worked with. But Todd found canoeing and the strength that
came with his weightlifting as his only transferable skills from his home country to Peru. The
fishing and farming in the jungle differed greatly from Todd's experiences. Often, people would say,
"you're useless", seeming cruel to an outsider, but in reality, the natives teased each other in the
same way. The people of the village acted kindly to Todd; he never felt that they threatened him
physically or endangered him, and in fact, they would go to great lengths to protect him later on.
