2. If you’re new to CTU, please register your ID with the Library!
You can check out books from CTU’s
library
You can get an ACTS card to allow
you to check out books from ACT
libraries (like CTS) as well as the
University of Chicago.
You can use library online
resources, such as online journal
articles.
You can renew the books you’ve
checked out.
You can use the catalog to request
books from more than 100 other
libraries in the I-Share system.
Some resources will take 24 hours (on business days) to become active after you register your card.
Once registered….
3. Is my library card number the same as my student ID number?
For library resources, you need the whole number on your ID card, not just the
last six digits!
You’ll need it to search for articles and other online library resources from off
campus, and to access library articles professors may post on their course pages.

Some screens will ask for your
barcode alone; others require
barcode and last name. In either
case, use the whole 13 digit number
4. What happens when I’m off campus?
With the exception of some periodicals (like Origins and all periodicals published by
Peeters), you can access electronic resources (ebooks) that you find in the catalog,
CTU’s subscription databases, and the EBSCO Discovery Service from off campus.
If you’re trying to login to a library resource from off campus, and you are asked for
anything other than your barcode number and last name, please contact the library
for additional assistance.
Example of a login screen which you should not see. If
you do, it’s a sign of a problem with one of the library’s
authentication tools, so please contact the library.
5. Asking the library for help
When do I ask?
1. I’ve gotten a new
student ID, and I
need to re-register it.
2. I’ve registered my
student ID, it has
been more than 24

day, and I can’t
access library articles
from off campus
