Jimmy Carter Panama Canal
Jimmy Carter was the thirty–ninth president of the United States covering the years of 1977 to 1980. He "maintained a military that took away all of
the national wealth which protected corporate wealth and power"(Zinn, Ch. 21). As Zinn states, the Panama Canal during the Panama Canal treaty
saved American companies $1.5 billion a year in delivery costs, and the United States collected $150 million a year in tolls, out of which it paid the
Panama government $2.3 million dollars, while maintaining fourteen military bases in the area. This shows just how much of the people's money went
straight to the military, whether the people wanted their money to be used that way or not, the government could do what they wanted with their
money as they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He was part of the Democratic Party and had different policies than President Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush. Carter was in favor of conservative
domestic and foreign policies. The Reagan administration took a directly anti–communist stance towards the Soviet Union. After Carter stepped down
from office, Reagan took his place as president, then there was Bush. Bush was very proud of his signing of the Clean Air Act of 990 therefore
calling him the " environmental president. Little money was set aside for enforcement. While Reagan built up military, he tried to pay for this with
cuts in benefits for the poor. There would be $140 billion of cuts in social programs through 1984 and an increase of $181 billion for "defense" in the
same period. He also proposed tax cuts, but insisted he would still balance the budget because the tax cuts would so stimulate the economy as to
generate new revenue.
The policies got worse over time by increasing the military budget, cutting benefits to poor people, lowering taxes for wealthy, filling the federal court
system with conservative judges, actively working to destroy revolutionary movements in the Caribbean. Corporate America became the greatest
successor of the Reagan– Bush years. Their concern

Analysis Of Follow My Leader By Jimmy Carter
Follow My Leader is the story of Jimmy Carter, a little boy who goes blind at the age of eleven when a firecracker explodes in his face. Jimmy lived a
very normal life for an eleven–year–old boy in the 1950s. He enjoyed playing baseball with his friends, and hiking with his scout troop. One day,
when Jimmy and his friends were playing baseball out at the old sandlot, they find a firecracker where a firework stand had been set up for the recent
fourth of July holiday. One of the boys, Mike, decides to light the firecracker and it gets thrown at Jimmy's face.
Jimmy is immediately sent to the hospital where his face is bandaged and his eyes are covered. However, when the bandages were removed, Jimmy
saw nothing but darkness. In fact, everything ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I have never met anyone with a guide dog, but I have always admired the dog's ability to work with, and know his handler. I think the hardest part
for me was the moment that Jimmy was told he was not allowed to bring Leader to school. In the 1950s, this was, seemingly, unheard of. Many were
probably afraid of pet dander. There was no dog education, as many dogs lived outside, and not in the house.
As a teacher, I see how this can affect needs to be flexible, and how important it is to work alongside the family of my student. When a child goes
through a traumatic event that changes his life function, family is your greatest ally and support system. It is important to be ready to accept any
possible accommodations that a student may need to best function in the classroom. Today, there are approximately, 10,000 guide dog teams within the

president, had tried without success to end the crisis diplomatically. Ronald Reagan, an actor turned politician, had very little experience in a political
position. Carter was not fit to handle the current crisis. His attempts to free the hostages had gone poorly both diplomatically and through use of

President Jimmy Carter And The Iran Hostage Crisis
Mere minutes after President Jimmy Carter was out of office, the Iran Hostage Crisis, for which his presidency is most remembered, was over.
Behind him was a disjointed foreign and confused domestic policy. When he left office, Carter's approval rating was 34 percent, and his disapproval
rating nearly twice that (Roper Center). Today, it seems that he is a better ex–President than he was a president, as evidenced in his founding of the
Carter Center, his cultivation of his presidential library, his contributions to Habitat for Humanity, and his numerous other humanitarian efforts. During
his term, he had a poor relationship with Congress, a low approval rating with the American people, and a lack of cohesive international or domestic
policy. I believe his two greatest failures are also the two which marked his entire presidency and caused the drop in his approval ratings: the confused
and faltering domestic and international policies which lasted throughout his presidency and the Iran Hostage Crisis.
Jimmy Carter was a one–term president who won on a campaign of being "not Washington" and "not Gerald Ford" (Hargrove, 1988). Shortly after
entering office, his refusal to trade political favors with members of Congress, unwillingness to learn the rules of Washington politics and play by them,
and the general lack of communication between his administration and Congress stalled any possible working relationship. This cannot be seen as a
failure on the part of Congress, who

Compare And Contrast Jimmy Carter And Malara
A young white man growing up in the Southern United States in the twentieth century witnesses rampant racial prejudice condoned by political
political officials and the law. A young girl growing up in Pakistan in the early twenty
–first century experiences similar discrimination herself when the
Taliban takes over much of the nation. Despite being of different backgrounds,Jimmy Carter, a devout Christian who grew up in the Deep South, and
Malala Yousafzai, a devout Muslim from Pakistan, both promote and spread an idea of equality amongst all individuals. Both mention that religious
leaders distort and misinterpret holy books to suit their purposes. Carter and Yousafzai witness prejudice and violence against oppressed groups
firsthand. They endorse an idea of peace, saying that an acceptance of violence is prevalent and problematic in society. In addition, both take efforts
in an attempt to improve the world and solve the problem of violence against women. Jimmy Carter's beliefs and efforts as stated in the excerpt from A
Call to Action resonate with Malala Yousafzai's in I Am Malala.
The two well–known figures speak out against misleading propaganda promoted by unscrupulous religious leaders. Carter believes that "male
religious leaders ... distort ... sacred texts to perpetuate their claim that females are, in some basic ways, inferior to them, unqualified to serve God on
equal terms" (1). He also says that when he grew up in the Deep South he witnessed racism and prejudice

Essay on The Politics of Jimmy Carter
Jimmy Carter
1977–1981
The United States has had several different presidents of which have been in office for 8 years because they have been re–elected by us the citizens.
The story of James Earl Carter Jr. or better known as President Jimmy Carter, as every other president the United States has had is different.Jimmy
Carter was in office as president of the United States of America for four years only. He was president from 1977 through 1981; during this time period
many different event occurred.
President Jimmy Carter was born October 1924 in a little town called Plains located in Georgia. As a young boy, he grew up in Archery a little nearby
community and Jimmy Carter was drawn into farming just the same way his father James Earl ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When this occurred, his career was about to begin. He took over his father's farms, while in company of his wife they activated the Carter's
Warehouse. This warehouse was a company for seed and farm supply. By doing so, he gained power and became a strong leader of his community in
Georgia. Jimmy Carter attended county boards supervising education and having authority of the hospital and library made him popular. When he
realized his popularity and his appreciation for his community he decided to run for the senate of his state and as expected, Jimmy Carter won election
to the Georgia Senate in 1962.
As the years passed and passed, he kept gaining confidence of his power and of his love of politics. Although he lost his first gubernational campaign
in 1966, he was successful in January 12, 1971 becoming Georgia's seventy sixth governor. When he became governor, Jimmy Carter emphasized
ecology, efficiency in government, and being able to remove all the racial barriers.
Jimmy Carter believed in equal rights and the fact that many American citizens were racist to other cultures was something he really disliked. Like he
quoted once "We Become not a melting pot, but a beautiful mosaic. Different people, different beliefs, different yearnings, different hopes, different
dreams". He knew that there wasn't a reason on why being rude and disrespectful to other people. Because of that, he emphasized the fact that he
wanted racial barriers to be removed. Although he did

Why did Jimmy Carter win the presidential contest in 1976...
Why did Jimmy Carter win the presidential contest in 1976 and yet lose to Ronald Reagan only four years later? Carter took the presidency with
several issues that needed resolving, such as rising inflation and unemployment, a country disillusioned with the political system and turbulent foreign
relations. To determine the reasons why he was successful in 1976 but not in 1980, it is necessary to look at what his successes and failures were, as
well as the different situations in 1976 and 1980. While he seemed the perfect antidote to the corrupt 'Washington scene' in 1976, he turned out to be
perceived as weak and ineffectual in his economic and foreign policies. He also had much stronger competition from Reagan in 1980 than he had from

These were conservative people who were disgusted with more liberal policies in favour of abortion, sexual freedom, welfare and equal rights for
women, black people and homosexuals. They were desperate for a return to traditional family values, which Reagan promised to bring back. With
an estimated 5 million evangelical Christians who had never voted before now voting for Reagan, he was gaining vast numbers of new votes while
Carter was losing ones he should have been able to rely upon. Issues with foreign policies under Carter also played a large part in him losing the
election in 1980. As well as concerns over him taking in 125,000 refugees from Cuba and equivocating over dealings with the Soviet Union, there was
the Iran hostage crisis in 1980. The timing of this was terrible for Carter as it continued throughout the election, and his failed rescue attempt made him
appear weak and incompetent. This of course played into Reagan's hands, as he promised to bring strength and security to the USA, and to return it to
it's superpower status. One of the American population's major concerns when Carter became president was rapidly rising inflation, as well as rising
unemployment. Despite his promises when campaigning for presidency, his legislations did little to help the economic situation, that is if they even
made it through Congress. This left many people wondering 'can Carter cope?' The rate of inflation had risen even higher

How Does Jimmy Carter Use Parallel Syntax?
In 1979 an oil shock effected America nationwide due to the output of oil decreasing. This energy crisis in the United States led to current President,
Jimmy Carter, to acknowledge not only the obvious crisis within the nation involving the lack of energy, but another issue that lies deeper than the
surface. Jimmy Carter believed that along with the energy crisis occurring at that time, there was also a "Crisis of Confidence" (Carter) throughout the
nation. Carter also claims the United States has an issue with coming together as one and working together to become a union. The American People
lacked faith and trust within their country's government causing another crisis for The United States to overcome. During President Carter's speech, he

He gains the audience's attention by his forceful and loud tone of voice projecting urgency within what he is asserting (Jimmy Carter's Full "Crisis of
Confidence" Speech). By earning the audience's attention this way, he is more likely to keep their undivided attention throughout the rest of the speech
rather than if he were too calm addressing the issue. This remains significant to President Carter's argument because his concern shown towards this
crisis is stressed more on the American People by his urgent tone, rather than Carter having a calming and reassuring tone.
Carter as well keeps a steady and strong eye contact with the audience throughout his speech (Jimmy Carter's Full "Crisis of Confidence" Speech).
This shows he is certain on what he is saying and once again, shows the urgency of this issue occurring. By doing so, he is getting his point across in a
strong way because of the almost uncomforting eye contact with the audience that is hardly lost in its

Jimmy Carter A Call To Action Analysis
In the book A Call to Action, Jimmy Carter talks about different ethical problems in our society. Most of what is mentioned in his book has to do
with women and how they are treated and viewed. He starts the book with what he saw when he was a child. He says that as he was growing up he
began to notice things that were going on around his town. He didn't see any racial or sexists things against people in his childhood. He noticed that his
town was interpreting Bible lessons to accommodate the most convenient standards. People would be married to each other, but would live with
someone else and have children with them. Jimmy Carter saw the the separate but equal ruling of the U.S Supreme court and couldn't believe that no
one raised objections. His friends and playmates would go to different schools, churches, couldn't vote or serve in a jury. Jimmy Carter begins the
second chapter by showing his concern about the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. World leaders signed and ratified this agreement to protect
human rights, but they are not being protected and some religions have exempted themselves. Those relions are keeping women and girls from
having the equal rights as the men do. The agreement has led to war if people try to stop those religions or countries from holding back women. If
nothing is done they will continue to be treated badly, but if someone says something a war could be caused. Many countries also use war to solve
many problems that don't require

Jimmy Carter Literature Review
Jimmy Carter was a very avid Christian before, during and after his time in office. He is commonly acknowledged of being one of the most
religious presidents in history. The purpose of this literature review is to give an overview of how academia interprets Carter's religiosity. Berggren
and Rae (2006) describe Carter as an Evangelical style president with a strong devotion to his corresponding Evangelical Faith. He is referred to being
the "born–again" president. Carter had a born–again experience during his pre–presidential life which supports he was evangelist during this part of his
life. In this experience, he questioned his faith after a failed attempt to become governor. It wasn't until his sister, a devout evangelist, spoke to and
convinced him that he had not fully dedicated himself to God, that he had a born–again realization and devoted himself to Christ. Carter's Evangelical
Faith is further supported by him referencing himself as "born again" and saying, "I believe God wants me to be the best politician I can be"
(Lindsay, 2007). Lindsay's article also reasons that at the beginning of his presidency Carter had a high rate of evangelical approval because these
people could easily connect with like–minded president. Carter's evangelism religiosity is demonstrated by these two sources before and during his
early administration but gives no insight into how might have changed during and after his presidency. Preston (2012, 575) expands on Carter's

Who Is Jimmy Carter A Champion Of Social Justice
"We cannot be both the world's leading champion of peace and the world's leading supplier of the weapons of war." (Carter). President Jimmy
Carter was a true champion of social justice. He knew that to be a champion of social justice, you have to make morally good actions. Being a
President of the United States gave him great opportunities to wield influence and that is something he has continued to do since leaving the Oval
Office. This living President has set a precedent of justice in the White House and even more so outside of it. Through his industrious life, his work
before the White House, his actions during his presidency, and everything he has done since he has left me with a deep pride for the values that make
America who we are as a country. I am proud to have Jimmy Carter has one of our great Presidents and he sets the example of social justice
embodied in a person. Jimmy Carter's life is quite the story. He was born on October 1, 1924, in Plains, Georgia. He comes from a family with
some roots in social justice. While his dad was just a peanut farmer, his mother was a nurse that crossed racial boundaries in a time marred by the
horrors of segregation. As Carter became an adult, he joined the Naval Academy and excelled there. Carter got married on July 7, 1946 to Rosalynn

Carter was Absolute on Human Rights?
An Examination of President Jimmy Carter 's Human Rights Policy in Argentina
Introduction:
President Jimmy Carter declared in his inaugural address that the US's "commitment towards human rights must be absolute". Human rights under
Carter were anything but absolute. Under his presidency, the US sent contradictory messages: one opposing human rights violations and another which
seemed to overlook human rights abuses. The issue of human rights was not Carter's only priority. In reality, human rights ended up being one of many
of the Carter administration priorities. All of these foci collided, and left Carter with no real center to his foreign policy. One of Carter's first attempts to
implement his human rights initiatives was in Argentina. The authoritarian, rightist Juntas organized a violent repression against political dissidents.
Trying to distance himself from the policies of Ford/Kissinger, Carter attempted to pressure the authoritarian regime to improve their human rights
record via reductions in military aid and economic sanctions. These maneuvers led to some mild improvements initially, but ultimately came back to
hurt the Carter administration after the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. Argentina's decision to align itself with the Soviets rather than the US on the
issue of grain embargoes is an example of the Carter administration 's poor foresight. Carter over–compartmentalized his foreign policy agenda and

Jimmy Carter On God And Power Analysis
Are all politicians power hungry monsters? Or are a select few running for the good of the nation? In 2017, politicians seem wrapped up in their
own offices and concerned about their own gain. Few are held in high regard, and most just rely on endless actions and useless rhetoric. This video
takes viewers back to a time when politicians carefully considered their words and actions, as well as the consequences they bring. The PBS video
from the series Blank on Blank " Jimmy Carter on God and Power" paint a vivid picture of Carter's life, thoughts, and personality before he was our
nation's 39th president. The techniques used by the animator, Pat Smith create an interesting piece combined with the accessibility of YouTube to
create an entertaining video to watch. The content of the interview is especially valuable in the modern political era, and Carter's opinions are relevant
to American citizens today. By discussing the content of this interview, analyzing the techniques used to create visual expression, and examining the
value of the message, one can contend that "Jimmy Carter on God and Power" is both relevant in the modern political era and worthwhile for the
American public to view.
In this interview by Bill Moyers, Jimmy Carter describes his intention to be a positive moral role model for American citizens. Carter communicates that

Jimmy Carter Rhetorical Analysis Essay
Jimmy Carter is a well known Democratic president who served between 1977 to 1981 who strongly opposed opening the Arctic Wildlife Refuge to
oil drilling. His writing on the preservation of the refuge came after his term as president while new proposals were being put forward for drilling.
Carter's argument is very effective at encouraging the National Arctic Wildlife Refuge to be protected. Carter effectively uses logos, ethos, and pathos
to construct a strong argument for the refuge to be preserved.
Firstly, Carter uses Logos to create an argument for conservation. Logos is the use of logic and reasoning to persuade audiences. The first way Carter
does this is by using data and statistics to back his arguments. Carter states, "At, best the Arctic wildlife refuge might provide 1 to 2 percent of the oil
our country consumes each day" (Carter 7). Carter uses data to show the minimal impact the drilling ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By using Pathos, Carter makes a strong emotional argument for the preservation of the wildlife refuge. Carter first uses fear of loss to motivate
his audience. Carter even says, "I was saddened to think of the tragedy that might occur if this great wilderness was consumed by a web of roads
and pipelines... " (Carter 4). Carter uses imagery and speaks of the tragedy of a world where the wildlife refuge was lost. However, Carter also
makes an emotional argument for the promise of gain. Throughout the article Carter refers to the refuge in many ways such as a "special birthplace"
(Carter 3), "America's Serengeti" (Carter 3), and "America's last truly great wilderness" (Carter 1). Jimmy Carter explains, "It would be a grand
triumph for America if we can preserve the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge... To leave this extraordinary land alone would be the greatest gift we can
pass on to future generations." Carter clearly aims to instill a sense that much will be gained emotionally by keeping the refuge

Jimmy Carter Rhetorical Analysis
Americans were enduring trying times before the 1980 presidential election. Fifty –two American soldiers had been taken hostage in Iran, and America
was entering a period of stagflation (Economy in the Reagan Era). Tensions ran high among Americans, and the upcoming presidential election between
incumbent Jimmy Carter and retired actor Ronald Reagan was going to be the first step in solving these issues. But who to choose? Retired Governor
of California Reagan knew that if he was to have any chance of beating Jimmy Carter, he needed to prove his competency. In his election–eve speech,
Reagan effectively convinces his audience that he is the best candidate for president through emphasizing his superiority to Carter paired with his
unification of the nation. In an event as competitive as a presidential election, it is not enough to simply build oneself up; one has to also take down
their opponent. Instead of rudely pointing out flaws, however, Reagan criticizes Carter in a nonconfrontational way. Through a series of rhetorical
questions, such as "Are you happier today than when Mr. Carter became President of the United States?", Reagan implies that Carter did an inadequate
job as president while not directly stating any grievances. His questions are leading and imply a negative response. This tactic, paired with Reagan's
self–promoting, leads to a more favorable view of Reagan than that of Carter.
In regards to his self–promoting, Reagan's first priority is to

Carter played this strategy to a tee. Carter knew that his best line of defense would come from those who had lost their elections and were looking

individuals faced a tough race and when they lost, they would become his support because people like to be used and not ignored. Another quotes
that is related to the "it's better to give then to receive," maxim is a quote I found to be very witty. The quotes states, "I've lived across the street
from you for 18 years ... I shoveled your walk in winter. I cut your grass in summer... I didn't think I had to ask you for your vote. He never forgot

asking favors only brings in more supporters. People want to invest in others and are often not critical of that person because they also

How Did Jimmy Carter Protect The Environment
Mr. Jimmy Carter and the Environment
James Earl Carter Jr. was born on October 1, 1924, in Plains, Georgia. His father was a peanut farmer and his mother was a registered nurse. During
his childhood, he kept out of trouble and focused on his studies. He was the first person from his father's family to graduate high school. He went on
to study engineering in college before joining the Naval ROTC program. Eventually, Mr. Carter joined the navy and went on to be the 39thpresident of
the United States. Despite an unsuccessful, one term presidency, Mr. Carter accomplished and oversaw quite a few environmental laws and policies.
Those of which included, The Endangered American Wilderness Act, the National Energy Act, and the Superfund legislation. The Endangered
American Wilderness Act, today, protects America's wilderness areas. Mr. Carter was concerned about the population growth spilling over into the
nation's wilderness population. At the time, strip mining and logging had resulted in already endangered wilderness areas. The act was introduced, in
large part, for the generations to come, so that they may enjoy America's wilderness. Another important act, which went in under Mr. Carter's term, was
the National Energy Act. During this time, America seemed... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The homes in the area were built very close to an old canal that had been used a landfill for hazardous waste. Over time the hazardous waste leached
into the surrounding soil and city water, causing birth defects, death of pets, and injuries to those in contact with the soil and water. With that, the
Superfund legislation was created. "Mr. Carter asked Congress for legislation that would establish a $1.6 billion fund to enable the Government to
respond to the Love Canal and similar hazards, and that the financial burden should fall on those chiefly responsible for generating toxic

with political elites of the country and obtain their support. That is why, being a strong moral leader, he was not able to change traditional patterns of

He became the only president of the USA who was awarded the Noble Prize after his presidency. This fact could be taken as a great evidence of his
moral leadership. He founded Carter Center which main aim became the attempt to guarantee peaceful settlement of various conflicts all over the
world. Due to the activity of this very center a great number of people all over the world saved their homes and several potential military conflicts
were stopped. Besides, Carter is also famous for his struggle with Dracunculiasis in Asia and Africa. Due to his efforts the number of people who
suffer from this illness reduced from 3,5 million to 1500 people. (Cardoso, 2015). This kind of activity shows the Jimmy Carter does not leave his
ideas of humanism and still tries to help people all over the world. Having failed as the President of the USA, he, however, decided to continue his
struggle for the better world which would be deprived of wars and segregation. Additionally, his humanism and tolerance are combined with
outstanding bravery which could be proved by his participation in liberation of the citizen of the USA in North Korea. He arrived to the state which

Throughout his text, US President Jimmy Carter applies many types of literary devices, and persuasive elements to help strengthen his point view

anecdotes, facts, as well as the personification of the nature and his choice of whimsical diction. As the passage begins, Carter begins to paint a

Jimmy Carter and the Iranian Hostage Crisis Essays
Jimmy Carter took office in January 1977 after he overcame his opponent, Gerald Ford, in a close election. Soon after taking office, President Jimmy
Carter set a goal to create jobs for the unemployed. President Carter also tried to make the government more useful and efficient by continuing the
reforming of the regulatory system that had started during the time of the Nixon Administration. "Jimmy Carter's plan did bring down the rate of
unemployment, but he increased the cost–of–living stimulated by huge oil price hikes in the Middle East that soon dominated the Administration's
domestic agenda." As Jimmy Carters relationship with Iran grew quickly, the shah of Iran came into communication with Jimmy Carter and he had

"The Shah, who had been in exile, contacted the United States and the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) put together Operation AJAX to drive
Mossadegh from Iran and put himself back in power." The Shah also followed up on the United States idea and he started a unique police group that
was officially called SAVAX. The CIA trained these people and they were not really big fans of the Iranian people. This group had special skills that
one police officer normally wouldn't have, all of the members of SAVAX also had the talent of spying which was used for listening in on the Iranian
citizens.
The shah of Iran became really sick with lymphoma and President Carter allowed him to gain access into the U.S. for medical treatment. This
action caused a lot of commotion in Iran and caused the Iranian Hostage Crisis. With the shah still sick, it was hard to manage what was back in
Iran. The speed of change in Iran was too hard to get command. "The shah was in trouble, reaping the harvest of years of brutal and unpopular
policies, including the use of secret police that controlled dissent with arbitrary arrests and torture." It was obvious that the shah had lost all control of
his people of Iran, but the president had hoped for an alliance of opponents to be formed. A man

President Jimmy Carter and Big Government Spending Essay
Although Carter was a likable man, the role of president was not the job for him. His big government spending and policies were responsible for
leading our fragile country into one of the worst economic recessions ever. However, this all changes in January of 1981 when President Ronald
Reagan was sworn into office and came to our country's rescue. Reagan stepped in ready to mend the deep scars left behind by setting forth an
economic plan, Reaganomics, in hopes to bail out our sinking country. Though many may say Reagan's conservative ways had this plan favoring the
upper class, this was not the case. In 1981 President Carter handed his duty to Ronald Reagan in a vulnerable time for the country. America was in an
economic recession where ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Supply–side went off the idea that, "tax rates affect a person's incentive to work, save, and invest. To put it simply: lower tax rates create more
economic energy, which generates more economic activity, which produces a greater flow of revenue to the government" (Gramm, Phil). This was
known as the Laffer Curve. When Reagan first came into office he was dealing with marginal rates at about 70% of returns on savings and
investments, but as he left office, 33% was the highest rate in the tax code which even dropped to 28%. These tax rates led the nation to one of the
longest peacetime recoveries economically (Gramm, Phil). Before people can blame Reagan for stealing from the poor we must look at the overall
effects of his plan that seemingly led America out of a deep recession. First of all, the tax cuts that he implemented were for ALL Americans. That
means the rich, the poor, African Americans, and even the disabled. These tax cuts were a positive incentive for everyone, which in turn helped to
stimulate the economy. In Reagan's Radio Address to the Nation in 1983 he explains how much trouble Carter's double–digit inflation negatively
affected the country. The government was faced with large deficits and record high interest rates. Of course with the devastating numbers, the poor
were scrambling to keep their heads above water and consequently many plummeted into deep poverty. With the poverty level sky–rocketing, any effort

President Jimmy Carters Speech On Foreign Policy
President Jimmy Carters speech of 1977 advocated for a new direction in foreign policy that emphasized humanitarianism, this new theory was
inspired by the ideals of Woodrow Wilson and Franklin D. Rooselvelt. Nevertheless, his speech is historically significant in that it reflects Carters
desire to create new relationships with other nations by using democracy to create a cooperative foreign policy, notably a detente with the Soviet Union.
The Afflatus of Others in Carters Agenda
According to Carter himself, he claimed this new idea on foreign policy was "a beginning aimed towards a clear goal: to create a wider framework of
international cooperation suited to the new and rapidly changing historical circumstances". As mentioned previously, he derived this goal from the
formularization of both Woodrow Wilson along withFranklin D. Roosevelt.
Woodrow Wilson
Wilson inspired Carter with his notion of the fourteen points which embody "self determination for all nations, freedom of the seas, free trade, open
diplomacy(an end to secret treaties), the readjustment of colonial claims with colonized people given "equal weight" in deciding their futures, and
the creation of a "general association of nations" to preserve the peace (book. 736)". This theory made by Wilson is much similar to Carters in the
sense that America as a nation should take an active role in foreign policy where he claims that "It is a new world, but America should not fear it. It is
a new world, and we should

states to preserve the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. Mr. Carter is not just writing to make himself look better in the people's eye, but simply to
protect what he believes is an important asset to America and its residents. Through his essay, he takes the reader on a journey around the refuge
describing the land's flora and fauna. The President opens up with describing the refuge as a wide range of landscapes that bare the birthplaces of

The Presidential Campaign : Ronald Reagan And President...
The 1980 Presidential Campaign was between Ronald Reagan and President Jimmy Carter. In this campaign several key issues were discussed.
Reagan provided solutions for the armed forces, the Nuclear Arms Race, terrorism, the nation 's economy, and urban policies. He used several
tactics to wage a successful campaign. By appealing to Republican values, Reagan received the votes of many heartfelt Americans and is still
admired by many to this day. One of the key issues Reagan brought up throughout his campaign was the United States Armed Forces. In this
argument Reagan was criticized for being too quick to react on the issue and how the two running candidates are different on using United States
Military Forces. Reagan wanted his first priority to be world peace and military force was a last resort. If everything else failed and peace was a
distance memory, then we would have used military force. This will help keep the value of peace essential, but it also can fall out of the hands of a
few individuals (United States Government). This mission is to preserve the peace which is very important for the United States. Without peace the
United States would fall out of democracy and maybe into communism. To make sure that there is peace there must be strength to keep that peace. The
strength would be part of the United States military and United States citizens. To avoid the issue of losing peace we must intercept the issue before it
can cause more damage than it should. In order to

Characteristics Of Jimmy Carter
Why do we hear so much about the bad leaders, but so little about the good ones? That's because none of our leaders are perfect, but what makes a
good leader? A good leader is someone who is honest, decisive under pressure, and can give confidence in times of distress. Many leaders in our
world, or in fictional worlds, show that these qualities prove most important. An honest person is someone who does not lie, and is not afraid of
telling people the whole truth. As said by Michael Bunting, "Honesty is a leader's most valuable leadership quality; it serves as the gateway for trust
and inspiration" ( Journal of business ethics, 113). This is very true, if a leader is dishonest it is very hard to trust anything they say or do. Of real
world leaders, we don't honesty a lot, but US President Jimmy Carter definitely had honest qualities. Jimmy Carter was arguably the most honest US
president. While his honesty cost him his 2nd term in office, it also saved us from a war in Iran (Frank). Many lives and lots money would've gone
into a war, and so this shows that honesty was truly the best thing in this situation. Another example of honesty would be how the main character of
Zootopia, Judy Hopps, wasn't afraid of telling people off. When Nick touched the sheep's wool, which was referencing to something that "black
women and men famously deal with all the time" (Kois), Judy was quick to tell him that what he was doing was considered rude. Another trait I find

Who Is Jimmy Carter: An Inecure Candidate For President?
In the year 1980, there was a lot of inflation and unemployment as well as the issue in Iran where extremist Muslims took more than fifty Americans
as captives. As a result, the picture portrayed Jimmy Carter as an insecure candidate for president. Ronald Reagan, on the other hand, encouraged the
American people to have hope and that our nation was a set example for others. He easily defeated Carter with a whopping 44 million votes and 489
electoral votes to 35.5 million votes and 44 electoral votes. His election to the presidency seemed to be a fresh new start for the U.S.; Reagan
invigorated the national defense, cut taxes, and impede the expansion of the government. During his first term, there was the development of weapons
and the military in the nation as well as the continuation of the Cold War. InRonald Reagan's second term, he created an accord with Mikhail

Summary Of Mother Jones, Cesar Chavez And Jimmy Carter
Changes That Make A Difference
Would you dedicate your life to standing up for our human rights? Mother Jones, Cesar Chavez, and Jimmy Carter all dedicated part of their life to
help bring justice into areas they believed needed it most. Cesar Chavez wanted to help migrant workers. While Mother Jones helped bring attention to
child labor and Jimmy Carter wanted to help with the human rights of all people. Although their motivations were different, all three people fought for
the human rights of many children and adults, some motivated by their childhood and others straight from their heart, to promote freedom and change.
Mother Jones was a hardworking person who loved children, and would stop at nothing to bring the attention to child labor. She went around the
United States visiting textile industries where she met with children who had been put through the torture of hard labor. In addition, to visiting
industries, Mother Jones talked to city officials and newspaper publishers. For example, it says, "Mother Jones asked various newspaper publishers
why they didn't write about child labor in Pennsylvania. The publishers told her they couldn't, since owners of the mills also owned stock in their
newspapers" (Josephson). She was huge on trying to bring attention to the public eye on this serious problem. Of course through this all she faced
many challenges such as newspapers neglecting to talk about the issue in their papers and the President refusing to speak to her. In the

The Election Of 1980 : President Jimmy Carter
The election of 1980 was one that could parallel the election of 2016 in regards to one of the candidates had a colorful background that was not

election was between the current Democratic President Jimmy Carter and the governor of California, and former movie star, Ronald Reagan. And the
race to the Whitehouse would be filled with lots of talking but little debating, ending in one of the lowest voter turnouts in history, but one of the
largest margins of victory in the electoral college. The incumbent of the election of 1980 was James "Jimmy" Carter. Born October 1, 1924 in Plains
Georgia, Carter had a much more traditional route to the presidency than his opponent Ronald Reagan. Carter was a well educated man and is even
considered one of the smartest presidents in United States history (Simonton). Jimmy Carter attended Georgia Southwest College, then Georgia

career in the US Navy, serving submarine duty for five years" ("Jimmy Carter). When returning from the Navy he began his political career by
serving on the local board of education. The next step on the road to president was serving on the Georgia state Senate. Carter won the election for

Jimmy Carter Panama Canal

  • 1. Jimmy Carter Panama Canal Jimmy Carter was the thirty–ninth president of the United States covering the years of 1977 to 1980. He "maintained a military that took away all of the national wealth which protected corporate wealth and power"(Zinn, Ch. 21). As Zinn states, the Panama Canal during the Panama Canal treaty saved American companies $1.5 billion a year in delivery costs, and the United States collected $150 million a year in tolls, out of which it paid the Panama government $2.3 million dollars, while maintaining fourteen military bases in the area. This shows just how much of the people's money went straight to the military, whether the people wanted their money to be used that way or not, the government could do what they wanted with their money as they ... Carter was in favor of conservative domestic and foreign policies. The Reagan administration took a directly anti–communist stance towards the Soviet Union. After Carter stepped down from office, Reagan took his place as president, then there was Bush. Bush was very proud of his signing of the Clean Air Act of 990 therefore calling him the " environmental president. Little money was set aside for enforcement. While Reagan built up military, he tried to pay for this with cuts in benefits for the poor. There would be $140 billion of cuts in social programs through 1984 and an increase of $181 billion for "defense" in the same period. He also proposed tax cuts, but insisted he would still balance the budget because the tax cuts would so stimulate the economy as to generate new revenue. The policies got worse over time by increasing the military budget, cutting benefits to poor people, lowering taxes for wealthy, filling the federal court system with conservative judges, actively working to destroy revolutionary movements in the Caribbean. Corporate America became the greatest successor of the Reagan– Bush years. Their concern ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Analysis Of Follow My Leader By Jimmy Carter Follow My Leader is the story of Jimmy Carter, a little boy who goes blind at the age of eleven when a firecracker explodes in his face. Jimmy lived a very normal life for an eleven–year–old boy in the 1950s. He enjoyed playing baseball with his friends, and hiking with his scout troop. One day, when Jimmy and his friends were playing baseball out at the old sandlot, they find a firecracker where a firework stand had been set up for the recent fourth of July holiday. One of the boys, Mike, decides to light the firecracker and it gets thrown at Jimmy's face. Jimmy is immediately sent to the hospital where his face is bandaged and his eyes are covered. I have never met anyone with a guide dog, but I have always admired the dog's ability to work with, and know his handler. I think the hardest part for me was the moment that Jimmy was told he was not allowed to bring Leader to school. In the 1950s, this was, seemingly, unheard of. Many were probably afraid of pet dander. There was no dog education, as many dogs lived outside, and not in the house. As a teacher, I see how this can affect needs to be flexible, and how important it is to work alongside the family of my student. When a child goes through a traumatic event that changes his life function, family is your greatest ally and support system. It is important to be ready to accept any possible accommodations that a student may need to best function in the classroom. Jimmy Carter, the current president, had tried without success to end the crisis diplomatically. Ronald Reagan, an actor turned politician, had very little experience in a political position. • 6. President Jimmy Carter And The Iran Hostage Crisis Mere minutes after President Jimmy Carter was out of office, the Iran Hostage Crisis, for which his presidency is most remembered, was over. Behind him was a disjointed foreign and confused domestic policy. When he left office, Carter's approval rating was 34 percent, and his disapproval rating nearly twice that (Roper Center). Today, it seems that he is a better ex–President than he was a president, as evidenced in his founding of the Carter Center, his cultivation of his presidential library, his contributions to Habitat for Humanity, and his numerous other humanitarian efforts. During his term, he had a poor relationship with Congress, a low approval rating with the American people, and a lack of cohesive international or domestic policy. I believe his two greatest failures are also the two which marked his entire presidency and caused the drop in his approval ratings: the confused and faltering domestic and international policies which lasted throughout his presidency and the Iran Hostage Crisis. Jimmy Carter was a one–term president who won on a campaign of being "not Washington" and "not Gerald Ford" (Hargrove, 1988). Shortly after entering office, his refusal to trade political favors with members of Congress, unwillingness to learn the rules of Washington politics and play by them, and the general lack of communication between his administration and Congress stalled any possible working relationship. This cannot be seen as a failure on the part of Congress, who ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Compare And Contrast Jimmy Carter And Malara A young white man growing up in the Southern United States in the twentieth century witnesses rampant racial prejudice condoned by political political officials and the law. A young girl growing up in Pakistan in the early twenty –first century experiences similar discrimination herself when the Taliban takes over much of the nation. Despite being of different backgrounds,Jimmy Carter, a devout Christian who grew up in the Deep South, and Malala Yousafzai, a devout Muslim from Pakistan, both promote and spread an idea of equality amongst all individuals. Both mention that religious leaders distort and misinterpret holy books to suit their purposes. Carter and Yousafzai witness prejudice and violence against oppressed groups firsthand. They endorse an idea of peace, saying that an acceptance of violence is prevalent and problematic in society. In addition, both take efforts in an attempt to improve the world and solve the problem of violence against women. Jimmy Carter's beliefs and efforts as stated in the excerpt from A Call to Action resonate with Malala Yousafzai's in I Am Malala. The two well–known figures speak out against misleading propaganda promoted by unscrupulous religious leaders. Carter believes that "male religious leaders ... distort ... sacred texts to perpetuate their claim that females are, in some basic ways, inferior to them, unqualified to serve God on equal terms" (1). Jimmy Carter attended county boards supervising education and having authority of the hospital and library made him popular. When he realized his popularity and his appreciation for his community he decided to run for the senate of his state and as expected, Jimmy Carter won election to the Georgia Senate in 1962. As the years passed and passed, he kept gaining confidence of his power and of his love of politics. Although he lost his first gubernational campaign in 1966, he was successful in January 12, 1971 becoming Georgia's seventy sixth governor. When he became governor, Jimmy Carter emphasized ecology, efficiency in government, and being able to remove all the racial barriers. Jimmy Carter believed in equal rights and the fact that many American citizens were racist to other cultures was something he really disliked. Like he quoted once "We Become not a melting pot, but a beautiful mosaic. Different people, different beliefs, different yearnings, different hopes, different dreams". • 9. Why did Jimmy Carter win the presidential contest in 1976... Why did Jimmy Carter win the presidential contest in 1976 and yet lose to Ronald Reagan only four years later? Carter took the presidency with several issues that needed resolving, such as rising inflation and unemployment, a country disillusioned with the political system and turbulent foreign relations. To determine the reasons why he was successful in 1976 but not in 1980, it is necessary to look at what his successes and failures were, as well as the different situations in 1976 and 1980. While he seemed the perfect antidote to the corrupt 'Washington scene' in 1976, he turned out to be perceived as weak and ineffectual in his economic and foreign policies. He also had much stronger competition from Reagan in 1980 than he had from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These were conservative people who were disgusted with more liberal policies in favour of abortion, sexual freedom, welfare and equal rights for women, black people and homosexuals. They were desperate for a return to traditional family values, which Reagan promised to bring back. With an estimated 5 million evangelical Christians who had never voted before now voting for Reagan, he was gaining vast numbers of new votes while Carter was losing ones he should have been able to rely upon. Issues with foreign policies under Carter also played a large part in him losing the election in 1980. As well as concerns over him taking in 125,000 refugees from Cuba and equivocating over dealings with the Soviet Union, there was the Iran hostage crisis in 1980. The timing of this was terrible for Carter as it continued throughout the election, and his failed rescue attempt made him appear weak and incompetent. This of course played into Reagan's hands, as he promised to bring strength and security to the USA, and to return it to it's superpower status. One of the American population's major concerns when Carter became president was rapidly rising inflation, as well as rising unemployment. Despite his promises when campaigning for presidency, his legislations did little to help the economic situation, that is if they even made it through Congress. • 10. How Does Jimmy Carter Use Parallel Syntax? In 1979 an oil shock effected America nationwide due to the output of oil decreasing. This energy crisis in the United States led to current President, Jimmy Carter, to acknowledge not only the obvious crisis within the nation involving the lack of energy, but another issue that lies deeper than the surface. Jimmy Carter believed that along with the energy crisis occurring at that time, there was also a "Crisis of Confidence" (Carter) throughout the nation. Carter also claims the United States has an issue with coming together as one and working together to become a union. The American People lacked faith and trust within their country's government causing another crisis for The United States to overcome. During President Carter's speech, he ... By earning the audience's attention this way, he is more likely to keep their undivided attention throughout the rest of the speech rather than if he were too calm addressing the issue. This remains significant to President Carter's argument because his concern shown towards this crisis is stressed more on the American People by his urgent tone, rather than Carter having a calming and reassuring tone. Carter as well keeps a steady and strong eye contact with the audience throughout his speech (Jimmy Carter's Full "Crisis of Confidence" Speech). • 11. Jimmy Carter A Call To Action Analysis In the book A Call to Action, Jimmy Carter talks about different ethical problems in our society. Most of what is mentioned in his book has to do with women and how they are treated and viewed. He starts the book with what he saw when he was a child. He says that as he was growing up he began to notice things that were going on around his town. He didn't see any racial or sexists things against people in his childhood. He noticed that his town was interpreting Bible lessons to accommodate the most convenient standards. People would be married to each other, but would live with someone else and have children with them. Jimmy Carter saw the the separate but equal ruling of the U.S Supreme court and couldn't believe that no one raised objections. His friends and playmates would go to different schools, churches, couldn't vote or serve in a jury. Jimmy Carter begins the second chapter by showing his concern about the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. World leaders signed and ratified this agreement to protect human rights, but they are not being protected and some religions have exempted themselves. Those relions are keeping women and girls from having the equal rights as the men do. The agreement has led to war if people try to stop those religions or countries from holding back women. If nothing is done they will continue to be treated badly, but if someone says something a war could be caused. Many countries also use war to solve many problems that don't require ... • 12. Jimmy Carter Literature Review Jimmy Carter was a very avid Christian before, during and after his time in office. He is commonly acknowledged of being one of the most religious presidents in history. The purpose of this literature review is to give an overview of how academia interprets Carter's religiosity. Berggren and Rae (2006) describe Carter as an Evangelical style president with a strong devotion to his corresponding Evangelical Faith. He is referred to being the "born–again" president. Carter had a born–again experience during his pre–presidential life which supports he was evangelist during this part of his life. In this experience, he questioned his faith after a failed attempt to become governor. It wasn't until his sister, a devout evangelist, spoke to and convinced him that he had not fully dedicated himself to God, that he had a born–again realization and devoted himself to Christ. Carter's Evangelical Faith is further supported by him referencing himself as "born again" and saying, "I believe God wants me to be the best politician I can be" (Lindsay, 2007). Lindsay's article also reasons that at the beginning of his presidency Carter had a high rate of evangelical approval because these people could easily connect with like–minded president. Carter's evangelism religiosity is demonstrated by these two sources before and during his early administration but gives no insight into how might have changed during and after his presidency. President Jimmy Carter was a true champion of social justice. He knew that to be a champion of social justice, you have to make morally good actions. Being a President of the United States gave him great opportunities to wield influence and that is something he has continued to do since leaving the Oval Office. This living President has set a precedent of justice in the White House and even more so outside of it. Through his industrious life, his work before the White House, his actions during his presidency, and everything he has done since he has left me with a deep pride for the values that make America who we are as a country. I am proud to have Jimmy Carter has one of our great Presidents and he sets the example of social justice embodied in a person. Jimmy Carter's life is quite the story. He was born on October 1, 1924, in Plains, Georgia. He comes from a family with some roots in social justice. An Examination of President Jimmy Carter 's Human Rights Policy in Argentina Introduction: President Jimmy Carter declared in his inaugural address that the US's "commitment towards human rights must be absolute". Human rights under Carter were anything but absolute. Under his presidency, the US sent contradictory messages: one opposing human rights violations and another which seemed to overlook human rights abuses. The issue of human rights was not Carter's only priority. In reality, human rights ended up being one of many of the Carter administration priorities. All of these foci collided, and left Carter with no real center to his foreign policy. One of Carter's first attempts to implement his human rights initiatives was in Argentina. The authoritarian, rightist Juntas organized a violent repression against political dissidents. Trying to distance himself from the policies of Ford/Kissinger, Carter attempted to pressure the authoritarian regime to improve their human rights record via reductions in military aid and economic sanctions. These maneuvers led to some mild improvements initially, but ultimately came back to hurt the Carter administration after the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. Argentina's decision to align itself with the Soviets rather than the US on the issue of grain embargoes is an example of the Carter administration 's poor foresight. • 19. Jimmy Carter Rhetorical Analysis Essay Jimmy Carter is a well known Democratic president who served between 1977 to 1981 who strongly opposed opening the Arctic Wildlife Refuge to oil drilling. His writing on the preservation of the refuge came after his term as president while new proposals were being put forward for drilling. Carter's argument is very effective at encouraging the National Arctic Wildlife Refuge to be protected. Carter effectively uses logos, ethos, and pathos to construct a strong argument for the refuge to be preserved. Firstly, Carter uses Logos to create an argument for conservation. Logos is the use of logic and reasoning to persuade audiences. The first way Carter does this is by using data and statistics to back his arguments. Carter states, "At, best the Arctic wildlife refuge might provide 1 to 2 percent of the oil our country consumes each day" (Carter 7). Carter uses data to show the minimal impact the drilling ... Carter uses imagery and speaks of the tragedy of a world where the wildlife refuge was lost. However, Carter also makes an emotional argument for the promise of gain. Throughout the article Carter refers to the refuge in many ways such as a "special birthplace" (Carter 3), "America's Serengeti" (Carter 3), and "America's last truly great wilderness" (Carter 1). Jimmy Carter explains, "It would be a grand triumph for America if we can preserve the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge... • 20. Jimmy Carter Rhetorical Analysis Americans were enduring trying times before the 1980 presidential election. Fifty –two American soldiers had been taken hostage in Iran, and America was entering a period of stagflation (Economy in the Reagan Era). Tensions ran high among Americans, and the upcoming presidential election between incumbent Jimmy Carter and retired actor Ronald Reagan was going to be the first step in solving these issues. But who to choose? Retired Governor of California Reagan knew that if he was to have any chance of beating Jimmy Carter, he needed to prove his competency. In his election–eve speech, Reagan effectively convinces his audience that he is the best candidate for president through emphasizing his superiority to Carter paired with his unification of the nation. In an event as competitive as a presidential election, it is not enough to simply build oneself up; one has to also take down their opponent. Instead of rudely pointing out flaws, however, Reagan criticizes Carter in a nonconfrontational way. Through a series of rhetorical questions, such as "Are you happier today than when Mr. Carter became President of the United States?", Reagan implies that Carter did an inadequate job as president while not directly stating any grievances. His questions are leading and imply a negative response. This tactic, paired with Reagan's self–promoting, leads to a more favorable view of Reagan than that of Carter. In regards to his self–promoting, Reagan's first priority is to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Another quotes that is related to the "it's better to give then to receive," maxim is a quote I found to be very witty. The quotes states, "I've lived across the street from you for 18 years ... His big government spending and policies were responsible for leading our fragile country into one of the worst economic recessions ever. However, this all changes in January of 1981 when President Ronald Reagan was sworn into office and came to our country's rescue. Reagan stepped in ready to mend the deep scars left behind by setting forth an economic plan, Reaganomics, in hopes to bail out our sinking country. Though many may say Reagan's conservative ways had this plan favoring the upper class, this was not the case. In 1981 President Carter handed his duty to Ronald Reagan in a vulnerable time for the country. America was in an economic recession where ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Supply–side went off the idea that, "tax rates affect a person's incentive to work, save, and invest. To put it simply: lower tax rates create more economic energy, which generates more economic activity, which produces a greater flow of revenue to the government" (Gramm, Phil). This was known as the Laffer Curve. When Reagan first came into office he was dealing with marginal rates at about 70% of returns on savings and investments, but as he left office, 33% was the highest rate in the tax code which even dropped to 28%. These tax rates led the nation to one of the longest peacetime recoveries economically (Gramm, Phil). Before people can blame Reagan for stealing from the poor we must look at the overall effects of his plan that seemingly led America out of a deep recession. First of all, the tax cuts that he implemented were for ALL Americans. That means the rich, the poor, African Americans, and even the disabled. These tax cuts were a positive incentive for everyone, which in turn helped to stimulate the economy. In Reagan's Radio Address to the Nation in 1983 he explains how much trouble Carter's double–digit inflation negatively affected the country. • 27. President Jimmy Carters Speech On Foreign Policy President Jimmy Carters speech of 1977 advocated for a new direction in foreign policy that emphasized humanitarianism, this new theory was inspired by the ideals of Woodrow Wilson and Franklin D. Rooselvelt. Nevertheless, his speech is historically significant in that it reflects Carters desire to create new relationships with other nations by using democracy to create a cooperative foreign policy, notably a detente with the Soviet Union. The Afflatus of Others in Carters Agenda According to Carter himself, he claimed this new idea on foreign policy was "a beginning aimed towards a clear goal: to create a wider framework of international cooperation suited to the new and rapidly changing historical circumstances". As mentioned previously, he derived this goal from the formularization of both Woodrow Wilson along withFranklin D. Roosevelt. Woodrow Wilson Wilson inspired Carter with his notion of the fourteen points which embody "self determination for all nations, freedom of the seas, free trade, open diplomacy(an end to secret treaties), the readjustment of colonial claims with colonized people given "equal weight" in deciding their futures, and the creation of a "general association of nations" to preserve the peace (book. 736)". In this campaign several key issues were discussed. Reagan provided solutions for the armed forces, the Nuclear Arms Race, terrorism, the nation 's economy, and urban policies. He used several tactics to wage a successful campaign. By appealing to Republican values, Reagan received the votes of many heartfelt Americans and is still admired by many to this day. One of the key issues Reagan brought up throughout his campaign was the United States Armed Forces. In this argument Reagan was criticized for being too quick to react on the issue and how the two running candidates are different on using United States Military Forces. Reagan wanted his first priority to be world peace and military force was a last resort. If everything else failed and peace was a distance memory, then we would have used military force. This will help keep the value of peace essential, but it also can fall out of the hands of a few individuals (United States Government). This mission is to preserve the peace which is very important for the United States. Without peace the United States would fall out of democracy and maybe into communism. • 30. Characteristics Of Jimmy Carter Why do we hear so much about the bad leaders, but so little about the good ones? That's because none of our leaders are perfect, but what makes a good leader? A good leader is someone who is honest, decisive under pressure, and can give confidence in times of distress. Many leaders in our world, or in fictional worlds, show that these qualities prove most important. An honest person is someone who does not lie, and is not afraid of telling people the whole truth. As said by Michael Bunting, "Honesty is a leader's most valuable leadership quality; it serves as the gateway for trust and inspiration" ( Journal of business ethics, 113). This is very true, if a leader is dishonest it is very hard to trust anything they say or do. Of real world leaders, we don't honesty a lot, but US President Jimmy Carter definitely had honest qualities. Jimmy Carter was arguably the most honest US president. While his honesty cost him his 2nd term in office, it also saved us from a war in Iran (Frank). Many lives and lots money would've gone into a war, and so this shows that honesty was truly the best thing in this situation. Another example of honesty would be how the main character of Zootopia, Judy Hopps, wasn't afraid of telling people off.
