The document discusses the ongoing conflict in Syria. It describes how the civil war began as protests in 2011 against the corrupt government but escalated as the government responded violently. This allowed other political parties and terrorist groups like ISIS to get involved, worsening the conflict. Over 330,000 people have been killed so far including 30,000 children. Millions more have been displaced and become refugees. While negotiations have attempted to resolve the conflict, compromising to stop the violence and collaborating with all parties may offer a better path forward.

2. What is going on In Syria?
Syria is currently in world’s most dangerous conflict. the conflict
growing stronger and stronger everyday leading to gallons of
innocent bloodshed and loss of young lives. The civil war is going on
in Syria leading to many conflicts. In this presentation, the reason of
conflict is described and I further give my opinion and try to explain
the possible ways of negotiation.
3. The Roots to Conflict
• The Civil War in Syria was started as a protest in year 2011 and is
still going on.
• The protest was against the corrupt democracy of that time and to
free the prisoners being held but the government responded back
the people with violent actions and force.
• Due to the violent response of government, the people of Syria
started forming their own military groups and using weapons in
protests.
• By looking at the conflicting situation some outer political parties
took benefit by mixing with Syrian people and converting it to a
war.
4. The Government’s role in war
• The state of Human Rights in Syria has long been the subject of
harsh criticism from global organisation. The country has a rule
that puts limitation of gathering of people in groups.
• The discontent of government in few areas of Syria leads to high
poverty rate and districts became poorer.
• there was socio economic inequality that leads to benefit of
people with power and those who have links with the
government. This also leads to high unemployment rate.
5. Demographic and Religion Discrimination
• The ratio of Arab-Sunni Muslims and Arab-Shia Muslims is quite
different in Syria.
• The successive govt. of country is associated with minority
religious group whereas the opposition is Sunni which is large
percentage of population(60%)
• ISIS took advantage at the time to fight with the already weaken
rebels and to take power in their own hands. When the
6. Economic effect and Deaths
• War always leads to the loss of economy and life. By the end of
year 2013, the public sector lost USD $143 Billion. The estimated
loss is $237 billion by the end of year 2015.
• There is a major loss of lives throughout the conflict. The
approximate number of deaths including the rebels, military and
common people is 330,380. this includes 30,000 children as well.
The loss left the hole in heart of humanity.
7. Refugees
• The war forced millions of Syrian People to leave their homes and
move to other countries. Almost 10 million people are displaced
and many are homeless by March 2015.
• Around 4 million people have been made refugees and moved to
countries such as Lebanon, Iran, Jordan and Turkey.
• Several Cultural heritages are either effected or fully demolished.
8. Current Negotiation attempts
• There are negotiating planning's going on to solve the conflict and
to stop the war.
• Recently UN Peace Envy has announced that they are organizing
the conferences to end this war and to give refugees their
freedom so that they can flee back to home country.
• The current strategy is competitive which is not the Best
Alternative to Negotiated Agreement(BATNA).
9. Negotiated settlements
• According to me, it is really important to solve the conflict as soon
as possible and the government needs to stop taking further steps.
Compromising with the rebels and other anti-terrorist troops can
help to form single strong group that can eliminate the terrorist
parties easily.
• Collaboration with other democratic parties and countries to get
economic health and to give shelter to children and homeless
people is a good idea .
• Non profit organizations such as UNHRC are taking a great
collaborative step to help the children and refugees.
10. The conflict can be brought closer to resolution by understanding
the feelings of both sides while focusing on stopping terrorist
activities and hitting the main goal, that is bringing the peace.
In this crisis, both sides can be more comfortable by eliminating the
ISIS rather than killing each other.
11. Summary
• In this presentation, we have seen that the conflict was arose and
attempts have been made to negotiate but leads to failure. To
negotiate the conflict, The war needs to be stopped and that can
be done by compromising and collaborating with the parties and
making solutions together.
