Research two job announcements in the correctional field from
two different job banks or sources that align with your most
desired, corrections-related position upon graduation from this
program.
Design a 1-page flowchart, using either Microsoft® Visio® or
Microsoft® Excel® software that clearly and logically identifies
each of the sequential steps you will take to prepare and apply
for one of your desired positions.
Reference any material used in your flowchart using APA
format.Application Process Paper
Write a 350- to 700-word paper detailing sources you would use
if applying for a position detailed in any of the criminal justice
field job announcements you chose. Include steps you would
take in preparation for each phase of the typical employment
process based on the design of your flowchart. Include the
following in your paper:
· Detail the three most important attributes of a successful
candidate to a mock interviewer.
· Explainthe process strategy for meeting the correctional career
challenges based on the job announcements you chose.
· Prepare at least three questions you would ask a mock
hypothetical interviewer based on the job announcements you
chose.
Format your paper consistent with APA guidelines.
Attach a copy of both announcements or send the link for both

1. What are specific job requirements that should be considered
when choosing a career? Why are these factors important in
choosing a career?
One important thing to consider when choosing a career is the
skills that one possesses. One should want a career depending
on the things that one is good at. For instance, a person who
faints when they see blood should not choose a career as a
surgeon. The job should provide one with an opportunity to
grow their skill and the more they like it, the more they are
likely to become experts in their career fields.
Another thing to consider is how passionate one is about the
job. No one should have to work in an environment where they
don’t feel comfortable. Choosing a career in which one is
passionate about helps in creating interest in that profession,
thus, helping one to become better. In addition to that, being
excited about the career one wants to be it helps in keeping
them happy.
Another thing to consider is the market. Research needs to be
done about the career one wants to get into. Research helps one
to know how big the market is as well as understanding about
the companies offering the job opportunity which interests the
individual. Researching about a career also helps in knowing
what is required of someone to determine whether they are
qualified for the job or not.
2. What are some possible careers within the corrections field?
Choose two careers and describe the job requirements for each.
Determine if you are currently qualified for these careers and
why. If you are not currently qualified for these careers, what
would you need to do in order to be qualified?
For one to be a juvenile probation officer, he or she must be in
possession of a bachelor’s degree in social work, criminal
justice, behavioral sciences, or any other related field. Another
requirement is that there might be training involved and one has
to pass an exam and get a certificate before starting the job. I
am not qualified for this career as I do not have a degree or a
certificate. However, I feel that I have the necessary skills
needed for this job. I will also go through the training process
to at least get a certificate.
Another possible career is the child social worker. One requires
a bachelor’s or a master’s degree. Another requirement is a
license for doing all the clinical work. I am not qualified for
this job as I do not have a bachelor’s degree. I need to go to
college to get a degree to get this job. I also need to take the
necessary steps to get a license to help me in the clinical work.
3. Consider the two careers that you chose for question number
two. What are the current employment trends for these careers?
What are the average salaries for these careers? What are the
main job duties for these careers?
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics in the US, the job
for the juvenile probation officer is bound to grow at a 4 %rate
between the years 2014 and 2024. By the year 2015, every
juvenile probation officer was earning a salary of 49,360
annually. Thus, the future looks bright for this career. One of
the possible careers in the corrections field is Juvenile
Probation Officer. The leading role of a Juvenile probation
officer is to give supervision to youths who are court ordered to
be on parole or probation. The juvenile officers work closely
with the parents and the adolescents to evaluate and ensure that
the law has been complied with. They are also in charge of
counseling the adolescents with the aim of transforming their
lives as they get rid of their issues with behavior.
The projected growth for a child social worker is 6 percent, and
the salary is approximately 42,350 US dollars on an annual
basis. The work of a child social worker involves protecting the
abandoned, the abused, the neglected, as well as those kids with
special needs. This job requires one to continuously get more
education to stay informed on the current laws regarding child
welfare.

  • 4. One important thing to consider when choosing a career is the skills that one possesses. One should want a career depending on the things that one is good at. For instance, a person who faints when they see blood should not choose a career as a surgeon. The job should provide one with an opportunity to grow their skill and the more they like it, the more they are likely to become experts in their career fields. Another thing to consider is how passionate one is about the job. No one should have to work in an environment where they don’t feel comfortable. Choosing a career in which one is passionate about helps in creating interest in that profession, thus, helping one to become better. In addition to that, being excited about the career one wants to be it helps in keeping them happy. Another thing to consider is the market. Research needs to be done about the career one wants to get into. Research helps one to know how big the market is as well as understanding about the companies offering the job opportunity which interests the individual. Researching about a career also helps in knowing what is required of someone to determine whether they are qualified for the job or not. 2. What are some possible careers within the corrections field? Choose two careers and describe the job requirements for each. Determine if you are currently qualified for these careers and why. If you are not currently qualified for these careers, what would you need to do in order to be qualified? For one to be a juvenile probation officer, he or she must be in possession of a bachelor’s degree in social work, criminal justice, behavioral sciences, or any other related field. Another requirement is that there might be training involved and one has to pass an exam and get a certificate before starting the job. I
  • 5. am not qualified for this career as I do not have a degree or a certificate. However, I feel that I have the necessary skills needed for this job. I will also go through the training process to at least get a certificate. Another possible career is the child social worker. One requires a bachelor’s or a master’s degree. Another requirement is a license for doing all the clinical work. I am not qualified for this job as I do not have a bachelor’s degree. I need to go to college to get a degree to get this job. I also need to take the necessary steps to get a license to help me in the clinical work. 3. Consider the two careers that you chose for question number two. What are the current employment trends for these careers? What are the average salaries for these careers? What are the main job duties for these careers? According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics in the US, the job for the juvenile probation officer is bound to grow at a 4 %rate between the years 2014 and 2024. By the year 2015, every juvenile probation officer was earning a salary of 49,360 annually. Thus, the future looks bright for this career. One of the possible careers in the corrections field is Juvenile Probation Officer. The leading role of a Juvenile probation officer is to give supervision to youths who are court ordered to be on parole or probation. The juvenile officers work closely with the parents and the adolescents to evaluate and ensure that the law has been complied with. They are also in charge of counseling the adolescents with the aim of transforming their lives as they get rid of their issues with behavior. The projected growth for a child social worker is 6 percent, and the salary is approximately 42,350 US dollars on an annual basis. The work of a child social worker involves protecting the abandoned, the abused, the neglected, as well as those kids with special needs. This job requires one to continuously get more education to stay informed on the current laws regarding child welfare.
