awareness about CRY and its
initiatives & action on child
rights among the youth.
3. It is directed at encouraging a
better understanding and
greater engagement (of youths
in campus) with the several
aspects pertaining to child
rights.
4. Year 2of the programme
received over
275 applications…
5. 31 Child Rights Leaders from 25
colleges and universities across Delhi,
Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Kolkata
and Chennai joined hands with us to
help generate lot of buzz and make
impact in children’s lives.
12. Devika also did a book collection drive in her college.
A small kid’s library center will now be set up in Jesus
and Mary’s college.
13. The children who she has been taking workshops with,
will now not only be a part of her workshops but will
also have access to this library center post their school
hours.
20. CRY was on board as NGO Partner for Toastmasters
International at VIT Vellore in November 2016 and a
CRY kiosk was set up during the event on campus.
21. Somesh made a presentation on Child Rights and
Child Labour to around 200 students and delegates
who participated in the event.
23. At the launch of ‘Humara Station Humari Shaan’
initiative, a collaboration between Western Railway
and Central Railway, GLC CRLs were part of the flash
mob during the Daan Utsav’s introductory event to
beautify the suburban Railway Stations of Mumbai.
24. Daan Utsav is a 100% volunteer driven initiative that
encourages people to do any act of giving of their
choice.
26. They also conducted a three-day Exhibition cum
Charity Sale by NGOs, called Shikhar’17, presenting
their creativity and ensuring economic sustainability.
Bake for CRY worked well!
28. In an effort to increase awareness about the
prohibition of child labour, an Essay Competition on
“Recent Amendments in Child Labour (Prohibition
and Regulation) Act, 2016. was conducted by them
too.
30. Tushar and his team raised Rs. 5837 through Pencil
campaign. He sold 200 pencils by individually
approaching friends and family to raise donations for
CRY.
31. They have also started teaching children in one of the
slum areas at Navi Mumbai on weekends.
37. Our CRLs across campuses like Hansraj College,
Miranda House and IP College for Women celebrated
women’s day in their campuses in the Women’s Day
week.
38. While Himani from IP College put a big poster in her
college with the words, “ I am a girl child and I can”
and asked everyone to complete the sentence,
Aarushee from Hansraj spread the word though
games in her college.
39. Dimpy too from Miranda House initiated the ‘Make a
wish for a girl’ campaign at her college. She asked her
friends put in their wishes for girls across the country.
The college wished for education, health, protection,
safety etc for girls across the country.
44. Vallari and other students from Mount Carmel
College conducted a Flash mob in Garuda Mall, a
flea market running simultaneously, to raise
awareness on the right to education of children
and stop child labour.
47. He put up a CRY stall at the four day college fest
held in MVIT and they had a fund raising activity
through organizing games for students and
engaging them in fun and interesting activities.
48. Other colleges had also taken part in this fest
and helped create awareness for CRY
50. Mimansa Singh conducted a bake sale at her
Institute, sold brownies and cupcakes donated
by various bakers in Pune.
51. Bakers like Sejal Shah of Sugar Spice, Anuradha
Sawhney of Back to the Basics, Girija Kirpekar-
Naik of Kitchen Confidence and Mohena
Ahluwalia of Once Upon A Cake donated
cupcakes.
53. Himangi joined as a CRY intern, became a regular
volunteer after the internship tenure and chose
to be a CRL to give all her energy for the cause!
The programme under her at the university
spread like wildfire.
54. She mobilized many students under the
programme and conducted a fundraising
activity, a photo booth, a freeze mob, a street
play at her campus.
56. Sohini conducted a survey on child labor which is
still prevalent in their campus. They spoke to the
parents of 7 such children.
57. The parents and their children were taken to
nearby schools for re-enrolment. As the children
were above the age of 9, school asked
volunteers to teach the children, before they are
formally enrolled.
59. Urbi and volunteers from her University are
teaching children engaged in child labour twice
every week to bring them on par with the
children already enrolled in school.
61. Sudhanshu in tie up with AARRUSH Fest set up a
CRY kiosk on campus. A mini quiz on CR was
conducted at the kiosk in which 85 students
participated.
62. He had created a core group of 7 volunteers with
45 active volunteers on board and initiated an
English learning module in the government
school nearby.
64. The CRLs this year prime moved a crowd funding
page by doing on-campus, on-ground and online
fundraising from their friends and family
members.
65. As their campaign picked up momentum, they
were also supported by volunteers and interns
from various spaces across Delhi/NCR. The final
money that was raised under this crowd funding
campaign was two lac plus
66. We thank our CRLs for their energy,
enthusiasm and commitment.
67. We look forward to another year of
exciting journey and lot of impact
through them!
