Mise en scene of the descent

1. MISE EN SCENE

2. Lighting portrays a lot of different things. Bright lighting could
represent a good person that stands out and dark or dim lighting
could represent a person who is bad. In the film, the descent, we
see that Night Vision is used when the monster appears to show
that the monster, which is the crawler, is raising up the heart beats
of the girls inside the cave.

3. LOCATION
The location is where the scene is set within a movie. Scenes are used
to set the atmosphere within the movie. In the descent, the location in
this clip is in a dark cave, which gives off a sense where it is a bit eerie
which gives a feeling to the audience that something is about to
happen sooner or later.

4. The props that were used for the scene were a lighter, which was
used for lighting which was not very bright.
Also another prop that was used were head torches, being used to
guide the girls to find the way out of the cave.
Another prop is the Night Vision camera, used to record the
footage where the crawler unexpectedly appears.

5. ACTING/MOVEMENT
Acting/Movement is a way of how the audience can pick up how a
person is feeling. Things such as body language is a way of how an
actor communicates with the audience. In this scene in the descent, we
see that these group of women are scared because they have seen one
of the crawlers.

6. The costumes that were used were mining or rock climbing gear to show that
they’re in a cave and they have to climb or abseil on rocks to reach certain
places which may lead to the way out.
The make-up was prosthetic make-up for the crawlers which pop up out of
nowhere seen on the Night Vision camera.
