1. Legal Issues
Clearance is gaining accessed permission of files and documents amongst
other copyrighted materials. Clearances are vitally important as without
it, things like using music for soundtracks or using the name of someone
that may have passed/a certain object or thing is branded illegal without
the right to do so.
Copyright is important for the production of media due to it effecting
whether or not the producer is able to include a soundtrack; something
incredibly important to the film its self. Before doing so, the producer will
have to gain permissions from the original creator.
Public Liability insurance is important for the cast and crewmembers. If
they are injured during the production of a film, the insurance covers
treatments, compensation and legal expenses.
Codes Of Practice
BBFC is an independent, non-profit and non-government body. It
was set up in 1912 by the film industry. They regulate film/DVDs
and videos to prevent people from buying or watching films that
are not suitable for them. The public concerns for the BBFC are the
concern over the issues in films and games such as racism.
The BBFC is a not for profit organisation, and its fees are adjusted
only to cover its costs. In order to preserve its independence, the
BBFC never receives subsidies from either the film industry or the
government. Its income is solely from the fees it charges for its
services, calculated by measuring the running time of films or
DVDs submitted for classification. The BBFC consults the
Department of Culture, Media and Sport before making any
changes to its fees.
