PERSONAL STATEMENT

I have served in the armed forces as an infantryman for eleven years. Throughout my career I
have advanced through the ranks to Senior Non Commissioned Officer, during which time I have
been placed in many situations above my experience and have risen to the occasion on each
account.

I am accustomed to accepting responsibility and having delegated authority, I am a totally
reliable and trustworthy individual, able to work to on my own initiative or as a valuable team
member or leader, my place of work has always required a very open sense of humor and a
personal dedication to managing many different personalities within multi cultural environments.
I am able to communicate fluently with management, peers and subordinates regardless of the
circumstances; I am calm under pressure and have a demonstrable track record in managing and
leading a team by example and driving new challenges through to successful completion within
budget and timescale.

EMPLOYMENT

 3rd Battalion Parachute Regiment
 July 2007 – present

 Deployment date October 2010 - April 2011, Successfully conducted the role of platoon
 sergeant at a check point in Nad Ali District, Afghanistan. The checkpoint was manned by
 30+ personnel to which I was responsible for. Other responsibilities I had was the running of
 all stores and equipment within the check point including ammunition. One of the main tasks
 I first had to complete was to have a robust and well rehearsed casualty plan and to then
 establish what defence works needed to be achieved and implement them, both were
 successfully completed throughout the tour

 Key Achievements:

      Successfully commanded a section on op’s & exercises (Kenya & Belize)
      Managed and motivated a section of seven men
      Prepared and delivered successful presentations & lessons
      Awarded a Military Cross

 1st Battalion Irish Guards
 July 2006 – July 2007

 Key Achievements:

      Chosen to teach the tactics of juniors privates career courses
      Evaluated the performances of course students
      Developed my own teaching and training skills

 Royal Guardrooms Admin Office
 Jan 2004 – July 2006

 As a Lance Corporal I was asked to manage 5 royal guardrooms including 4 stores which
 were on the brink of closure, immediately I established the jobs in priority which included,
 policy making, records management, cost & budget analysis, account management, from
 here I was then able to implement Improvements to the soldiers workplace, here I
 organized and supervised the placement of new flooring, beds, gym gear, food services and
 internet terminals

 Key Achievements:

      Awarded a commendation
      Successfully negotiated with much higher authorities on a variety of matters
      Established successful work place procedures to maintain the guardrooms

 Jan 2001 – July 2006

      Handling of secret documents
      Developed presentation skills
      Vehicle Maintenance (Warrior armored vehicle)
