8. Gartner’s disclaimer:
Customers that are comparing the 2016 and 2017 Magic
Quadrants may notice that the scale of the Magic
Quadrant graphic has changed — overall, the Ability to
Execute axis has expanded. In a year-to-year
comparison, this has the effect of making it look as if the
vendors have moved down in execution. For instance,
AWS appears to be less far up the Ability to Execute axis
than it did in the previous year, despite significant
improvements in its business in the past year.
This rescaling reflects Gartner's belief that, as later-
adopting customers begin to evaluate cloud IaaS, the
overall customer requirements have expanded, and
there are still many unmet needs in this market,
resulting in greater room for improvement for all
vendors.
10. Microsoft leads in core technologies, IaaS, PaaS, Private and Public Clouds
"Microsoft’s comprehensive hybrid
story, which spans applications and
platforms as well as infrastructure, is
highly attractive to many companies,
drawing them towards the cloud in
general.”
LYDIA LEONG,
GARTNER
