Task 1 planning radio segment
Equipment list
For my radio podcast I am going to need a hand held voice recorder. I am going to
need this so I can record my podcast and be heard clearly. I will also need to use one
of the Macs from my college as it as logic pro x which I am going to use to edit my
podcast section. I will finally need a pair of headphones so I can clearly hear when I
am editing. Without had phones I could make silly mistakes that could be avoided
using headphones.
Timing
I am going to aim for my podcast section to be at least 1 minute and 30 seconds. I
want it to be this long so it gives me time to talk about what’s in the news and have
an intro and an outro. I also want it to be this long so the listener doesn’t get bored,
if it’s too long they will get bored of listening.
Recording schedule
I am going to record my podcast on Thursday 22nd, I want to record on this date so it
gives me time on Friday to edit and get it uploaded onto blogger. I also want to
record on this date because I finished my pre production on Wednesday so would
better to get the recording out the way.
Sound checks
I am going to record my podcast section in my room at home, I want to record there
because there will be less noise than my college and I will be able to concrete more
and not get distracted by people walking past where I am recording and making
noises whilst I am recording.
Before recording I will perform a sound check, I will do this to make sure the sound
in the room is appropriate for me recording and to make sure there is no
background noise that will be heard in my recording.
Copyright clearances
I am going to use music in my intro and outro, to avoid copyright issues I am going
to search online for non-copyright music and use what I can find. I am also going to
use music during my podcast. I want to have music playing in the background whilst
I speak to keep the listener intrigued. I will have to use non-copyright music to do
this, as I want to avoid copyright issues.
Health and safety
I am going have to be careful whilst recording of cables from microphones and
recorders, to take care of this is I am going to celetape any lose cables to the floor,
walls or tables to keep the out of the way. I also have to be careful of this whilst
editing as I am going to be around computers with loads of wires and headphones.
To take care of this risk I am going to also use tape to tape up any lose cables.
Release forms for any interviewees
I will not have any guests on my podcast so I don’t need to worry about forms for
interviewees.
Booking equipment
I am going to write a letter to tom the technician to see if I am able to take use the
equipment he has o record my podcast. I will ask for a hand held recorder and a set
of head phones.
