2. Instructions
Without doing any research, individually, in pairs or groups, answer the
questions below to the best of your ability:
Teacher’s Notes:
Students should write their answers down, keeping them hidden from other teams. They should not use anything to help them answer these questions.
1. What is the average salary of an apprentice?
2. How much time do you think apprentices spend working / studying per week?
3. How many apprentices do you think there currently are in the UK?
4. What do you think the average employment rate of apprentices is after they have finished their

6. When is National Apprenticeship Week (roughly)?
7. What percentage of apprentices progress to higher education?
5 minutes!
3. Can you bust those myths?
Look over the answers you gave. By creating an apprenticeship shortlist and
exploring the tool, use Unifrog to conduct research into any of the questions you
found difficult to answer. For some you may need to look on apprenticeship
websites. Here is one to get you started:

Once you have completed your research, revise your answers. Change any
responses that you feel are inaccurate.

12. Have we busted any myths?
Thinking about what you have learnt today:
Write down one thing which surprised you that did not know before.
Write down one fact or piece of information that you think another student would find useful.
Teacher’s note – you could print this slide and then the answer slides and get students to mark against their own answers. The discrepancies should generate some interesting discussions about common myths about apprenticeships.
