Collaboration encourages and motivates reluctant writers and readers and provides a scaffold for
independent writing and reading while developing the competence of proficient writers and readers.
Join us to learn about creating and facilitating collaborative classroom activities, lessons, and projects
• that meet Common Core State Standards in writing, reading, speaking, and listening
• that are adaptable for any K-12 grade level and any content area
• that build classroom community to promote peer respect
• that entice and include and support reluctant writers and readers
• that further develop proficient writers and readers
Lesley Roessing, Director of the Coastal Savannah Writing Project and Instructor in the College of
Education at Armstrong Atlantic State University and author of No More “Us” and “Them”: Classroom
Lessons & Activities to Promote Peer Respect (Rowman & Littlefield, 2012) will facilitate an interactive
workshop that will share literacy activities and ideas that go back to the classroom.
Space is limited, and advance registration is required.
