READER RESPONSE STRATEGIES TO 
INCREASE COMPREHENSION OF 
COMPLEX TEXTS 
SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 1, 2014 
9:00am-12:30pm 
Reader response journaling is the most effective way to 
• increase comprehension [2010 Carnegie report "Writing to Read"] 
• include short daily writing in all content areas 
• teach students to respond to text including textual evidence 
• prepare for standardized tests, I.E. Georgia Milestones 
Educators will learn strategies and activities to take back to their 
classrooms. Examples from Grade 1-10 classrooms will be shared.

Coastal Savannah Writing Project Workshop READER RESPONSE STRATEGIES TO INCREASE COMPREHENSION OF COMPLEX TEXTS SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 1, 2014 9:00am-12:30pm Reader response journaling is the most effective way to • increase comprehension [2010 Carnegie report "Writing to Read"] • include short daily writing in all content areas • teach students to respond to text including textual evidence • prepare for standardized tests, I.E. Georgia Milestones Educators will learn strategies and activities to take back to their classrooms. Examples from Grade 1-10 classrooms will be shared. $50 registration fee includes a copy of The Write to Read: Response Journals That Increase Comprehension
