1.Beyer, Lisa, and Tim McGirk. "Arab-Israel Conflict." Time 1 Aug. 2007. Web. 9 Dec. 2009.
Lisa Beyer and Tim McGirk are both journalists who worked for Time Magazine. Beyer served as
Time's Bureau Chief in Jerusalem until Tim McGirk took over the position. They both have extensive
experience in the Arab-Israeli Conflict, and are qualified to write on the subject. The purpose for
writing this piece was to inform the reader of circumstances under which this crisis started, and why it
has kept on for so long, as the thesis states, “The Arab-Israel conflict is basically a fight over the land
of historic Palestine and whether a Jewish state has legitimacy there.” This piece is intended for anyone
who is interested in knowing more about the Arab-Israeli Conflict, the general public. The writing style
is easy to read, as the authors do not use pretentious wording, and it is not overly sophisticated. The
authors are not bias, as they point out what each side has done to provoke the other. This piece is useful
to anyone who wants to know more about what is going on the Middle East, and one does recommend
it.
2.Churches for Middle East Peace. Churches for Middle East Peace: Documents and Resources.
Churches for Middle East Peace. Web. 9 Dec. 2009.
This site is recommended to those who would like to know the events that took place leading up to and
currently going on surrounding the Arab-Israeli Conflict. Th purpose of this document is to inform
readers exactly what happened and when. It is intended for the general public, as the writing style is not
formal, and easy to read. The copyright date is fairly recent, last being updated in January of 2008.The
site gives addresses and phone numbers of people to contact if one has any questions, even President
Barack Obama. One should find this research helpful with papers, and studies on the Arab-Israeli
Conflict. This site is not bias as they give information on both sides actions, not just one side.
3.Khouri, Fred J. The Arab-Israeli Dilemma. Syracuse, New York: Syracuse University Press, 1985.
Print.
Fred J. Khouri is a reputable author who has traveled around the Middle East and Asia speaking with
political officials and ordinary people, to get a first hand perspective of what is really happening in the
Middle East. He is more than qualified to write on the subject of the Arab-Israeli Dilemma. The
purpose of this book is to inform the reader and give he/she background on the situation. This book
also questions the peace effort in the Middle East. This book in intended for scholars, professors,
students, politicians, as it is written in a very sophisticated manor. It is not based on a biased opinion as
it puts the blame on both Israel and Palestine for not being able to reach a peace agreement. This book
is absolutely useful if interested in learning more about the Arab-Israeli crisis in the Middle East.
4.Nijim, Basheer K. “Myths and the Arab Israeli Conflict.” The North American Review 254.4
(Winter, 1969): 42-45. JStor. Web. 09 Dec. 2009.
Basheer K. Nijim was a scholar who knew much about the conflict in the Middle East. He was a
professor at the University of Northern Iowa, where he taught political geography and focused on the
Middle East. Nijim wrote more than 40 pieces of work pertaining to the Middle East two of which were
2. published in the Encyclopedia Britannica. He also published four books about the Middle East. One
would think Nijim was more than qualified to write this article. The purpose of this article is to diffuse
the confusion over what the Arab-Israeli Conflict is all about. This article is intended for the general
public, as it is written in a very sophisticated manor, but not hard to understand. His thesis is simple
and clear, “The basic issues in the Arab-Israeli conflict have been clouded by a variety of myths, which
in turn have contributed to the persistence of the conflict.” The copyright date is not current as it was
written in 1969, however it gives the reader information needed for research on the subject as it comes
from a reliable source. The article itself is not too biased, however the poem at the beginning shows the
author is on the side of Palestine.
5.Orme, Jr., William A."Whose Holy Land? The Overview; Arab-Israeli Conflict Spreads to Border
With Lebanon." New York Times 8 Oct. 2000. Web. 9 Dec. 2009.
The purpose of this article is to inform the reader of how the conflict between Israel and Palestine
continues to spread throughout the Middle East. This piece is intended for the general public as it was
in the New York Times, which has the biggest circulation in the United States. It is written in a manor
of sophistication, but is easily read by the average person. There is no bias as it is informative of how
both sides is dealing with the issue at hand, and does not lean toward one side. Though the copyright
date is not current (it was written in 2000), it is informative none the less. It gives great insight to what
the governments of both Israel and Palestine were trying to do at the time to curb what they interpreted
to be the problem. This article is useful to research as it gives insight to how far the Middle East has not
come in their peace efforts over the past ten years.
