Generic Buspirone Hydrochloride Tablets (Buspin) is
used for the treatment of anxiety disorders or the relief
of the symptoms of anxiety for a short period of time.
The efficacy of Generic Buspirone has been
demonstrated in controlled clinical trials of outpatients
whose diagnosis roughly corresponds to Generalized
Anxiety Disorder (GAD).

Generic Buspirone (Buspin tablets) is used
for the management of anxiety disorders
or the short-term relief of symptoms of
anxiety with or without accompanying
depression.
The effectiveness of Generic Buspirone in
long-term use, that is, for more than 3 to 4
weeks, has not been demonstrated in
controlled trials.

Generic Buspirone Hydrochloride
Tablets (Buspin) have to be stored at
controlled room temperature i.e. below
25°C (77°F) in a dark place.
Keep this as well as all other medicines
away from children and pets.

The administration of Generic Buspirone
(Buspin tablets) to a patient taking a
monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) can
pose a hazard.

➢ The recommended initial dose is 15 mg daily
(7.5 mg two times a day). In order to achieve
an optimal medical effect, the dosage may be
increased 5 mg per day, as needed at intervals
of 2 to 3 days. The maximum daily dosage of
Buspin (Generic Buspirone) should not exceed
60 mg per day.

Contraindications
Buspin tablets are contraindicated in patients with
a hypersensitivity to Buspirone Hydrochloride or
any other component of this medication.

➢ The most common side effects of Generic
Buspirone (Buspin Tablets) include dizziness,
nausea, headache, nervousness, lightheadedness,
and excitement.
➢Rarely occurring side effects that were reported
post marketing include allergic reactions (including
urticaria), angioedema, cogwheel rigidity, dizziness
(rarely reported as vertigo), dystonic reactions
(including dystonia), ataxias, extrapyramidal
symptoms, dyskinesias (acute and tardive),
ecchymosis, emotional lability, serotonin syndrome,
transient difficulty with recall, urinary retention,
visual changes (including tunnel vision),
parkinsonism, akathisia, restless leg syndrome, and
restlessness.

As doses of 375 mg/day were
approached during clinical trials, the
following symptoms were observed:
nausea, vomiting, dizziness, drowsiness,
miosis, and gastric distress.
A few cases of overdosage have been
reported, with complete recovery as the
usual outcome. No deaths have been
reported following overdosage with
Buspirone alone.

The recommended overdose treatment
for Generic Buspirone (Buspin) include
general symptomatic and supportive
measures along with immediate gastric
lavage.
Respiration, pulse, and blood pressure
should be monitored as in all cases of drug
overdosage.
No specific antidote is known to Buspirone,
and dialyzability of Buspirone has not been
determined.

14. Buspirone Hydrochloride During
Pregnancy

Buspirone Hydrochloride has been classified by
the US FDA as Pregnancy Category B.
Fertility impairment or foetal damage was not
observed in reproduction studies performed in
animals at doses of buspirone up to 36 mg/kg
orally.
However, adequate and well controlled studies
during pregnancy have not been performed in
humans.
Therefore, use of Buspirone during pregnancy
should be started or continued only if in the
opinion of the doctor the benefit outweighs the
potential risk.
