Candid cream is used to treat fungal skin infections such as ringworm, athlete's foot, and diaper rash. It contains the active ingredient clotrimazole, which fights fungi causing these conditions. Candid cream should be applied thinly and massaged into the affected area twice daily. Side effects are mild but an allergic reaction requires stopping use and contacting a doctor.

Clotrimazole 1% Topical Cream (Candid cream) is
used for the topical treatment of Tinea pedis, tinea
cruris, and tinea corporis due to Trichophyton rubrum,
Trichophyton mentagrophytes and Epidermophyton
floccosum.
It is also used to treat Candidiasis due to Candida
albicans and Tinea versicolor due to Malassezia furfur.

Candid (Clotrimazole 1% Topical Cream) is
used to treat fungal skin infections such as
ringworm, athlete’s foot, fungal nappy rash
and fungal sweat rash. It is also used to
relieve irritation of the vulva (external
thrush) or the end of the penis, which may
be associated with thrush.
If you are not sure whether you (or your
baby if treating nappy rash) have one of
these fungal skin infections, seek the advice
of your doctor or pharmacist.

➢Adult Dosage for the treatment of jock itch,
athletes foot and ringworm: Thinly apply and
gently massage sufficient Candid 1% Topical
Cream into the affected and surrounding skin
areas twice daily, in the morning and evening.
For the treatment to be completely successful
Clotrimazole 1% Topical Cream should be
applied regularly and in sufficient quantities.
➢ If the patient shows no clinical improvement
after four weeks of treatment with Clotrimazole
Cream, the diagnosis should be reviewed.

➢Children (for the treatment of diaper
rash): Thinly apply and gently massage
sufficient Candid 1% Topical Cream onto the
affected and surrounding skin areas twice daily
at a diaper change (in the morning and
evening). Do not use for more than 14 days. If
symptoms worsen or there is no improvement
after 2 weeks, consult a doctor.

Candid (Clotrimazole 1% Topical
Cream) has to be stored at controlled
room temperature i.e. from 20°C to 25°C
(68°F to 77°F) with excursions permitted
between 15° to 30°C (59° to 86°F).
Keep this as well as all other medicines
away from children and pets.

Clotrimazole 1% Cream is not for
ophthalmic use.
If irritation or sensitivity develops with the
use of Clotrimazole Cream, treatment
should be discontinued and appropriate
therapy instituted.
Use Candid 1% cream for the full
treatment time even though the symptoms
may have improved. Notify your doctor in
case there is no improvement after four
weeks of treatment.

Tell your doctor if the area of application
shows signs of increased irritation
(redness, itching, burning, blistering,
swelling, oozing) indicative of possible
sensitization.
Avoid the use of occlusive wrappings or
dressings. Avoid sources of infection or
reinfection.

Contraindications
Candid topical cream is contraindicated
in patients with a hypersensitivity to
Clotrimazole or any other component of
this medication.

➢The following side effects have been reported
in connection with the use of Clotrimazole 1%
Topical Cream: erythema, stinging, blistering,
peeling, edema, pruritus, urticaria, burning, and
general irritation of the skin.
➢In case of an allergic reaction, stop using
Candid 1% Cream and contact your doctor
immediately or contact the Emergency
Department of your nearest hospital. Signs of an
allergic reaction can include Rash, Swallowing
or breathing problems, Swelling of your lips,
face, throat or tongue, Weakness, feeling dizzy
or faint and Nausea.

Acute overdosage with topical application
of Clotrimazole 1% topical cream is
unlikely and would not be expected to lead
to a life-threatening situation.

15. Clotrimazol Cream During Pregnancy

Candid (Clotrimazole 1% Topical Cream) has
been classified by the US FDA as Pregnancy
Category B.
Clotrimazole is very poorly absorbed following dermal
application or intravaginal administration to humans.
During clinical trials, use of vaginally applied Clotrimazole
in pregnant women in their second and third trimesters
has not been associated with ill effects.
There are, however, no adequate and well-controlled
studies conducted in pregnant women during the first
trimester of pregnancy.
Studies in pregnant rats with intravaginal doses up to 100
mg/kg have not shown any evidence of harm to the fetus
due to Clotrimazole.
