Even if I’m currently based in Seattle, there are days I miss living in
Oregon. The small towns and the forests give off a homey vibe that
make it a great setting for stories. I don’t think it’s surprising but a lot
of blockbuster films were set in my home state. Here are some of
them:
Twilight (2008)
Whatever your opinion may be about the book, there’s no denying
that the book and series were a hit. Even if the story was set in
Forks, Washington, some of the scenes were undeniably shot in
Damascus. The Hoke Residence or known to fans as the Cullens’
home is near the Forest Park.

Stand By Me (1986)
If you haven’t seen this movie, you should go stream it soon
because it is one of the most iconic coming of age films from the
80’s. The film was shot in different locations in Oregon such as
Eugene and Franklin. The story is about four young friends who are
searching for the body of a stranger.
The Goonies (1985)
Many tourists make their way to Astoria because of this film. With
Steven Spielberg as producer, there was no doubt that this
adventure comedy movie would be a hit. If you haven’t seen this
film, it’s about kids from the Goon Docks who are trying to save their
homes from demolition. In the process, they encounter a treasure
map and meet villains who want the goodies for themselves.

If you haven’t been to Oregon, you should definitely go visit one of
these days. It’s a laid back place but I’m sure you won’t run out of
places to enjoy. Who knows? The state might inspire you to write the
next great screenplay.
