The ARTisan Cafe is currently searching for artisans to be featured in its one-day, lifestyle
shopping event on Saturday, September 15, 2012 at the Plant Zero gallery.
Categories open to submission include visual art, hair care, clothing, food, and more!
Participants must showcase their craft while serving as vendors throughout the evening, and they
are required to make their art available for guests to sample, try and purchase.
Artisans interested in becoming a vendor should complete and submit the Fall 2012 Vendor
Application via email to artisans@artisancafeva.com by August 6, 2012.

Movies on the Ave

Start your weekend off with Friday’s Movies on the Avenues tomorrow, July 13th
at
Westhampton School playing fields.
This week’s outdoor movie is “Kung Fu Panda 2” beginning around 8:30 p.m., but get there
early for some pre-movie entertainment, including a magician, food, drinks, and plenty of kids’
activities!
Site captains will be present at 6:00 p.m. for those who would like to set up their viewing spots
early.
The weather for this event looks promising with cool temperatures in the evening, but there is no
scheduled rain date so be sure to double check the weather conditions. Tables and chairs will be
provided upon request, so bring out the entire family and have some old-fashioned fun!

2. Food Truck Court Is Coming To Town

A Food Truck Court will be set up outside of Chesterfield Town Center beginning Wednesday,
July 11th
from 6:00pm-9:00pm.
This event was created to provide a dinner service to the families and gourmet lovers of
Richmond’s Southside. Every Wednesday, the community will gather in the CTC Parking Lot
located at Kroger Center Boulevard and Huguenot Rd. to enjoy a variety of chef inspired
cuisines.
Tables and chairs will be set out for eating, and multiple dates have been scheduled as special
events in which beer trucks will be invited to join the festivities.
Food Truck Court participants include: The Boka Truck, Rooster Cart, Habanero’s, Mister
Softee, and many more. Be sure to come out and support these local merchants!

PIFL Championship Game Set

The Richmond Raiders and Albany Panthers will play for the first PIFL Championship this
Saturday, June 30th
at 7:30 PM
Down by as many as 16 points in Monday night’s semi-final game, The Raiders were able to
fend off the Louisiana Swashbucklers 56-50, earning them a spot in Saturday’s championship to
be played at the James H. Gray Albany Civic Center in Albany, GA.
In their two previous meetings both clubs walked away with a win, but tomorrow night there can
only be one victor, gaining bragging rights until next season by taking home the first PIFL
Championship Cup. Go Raiders!

3. Richmond Raiders Monday Night Football

The Richmond Raiders will take on the Louisiana Swashbucklers at the Richmond Coliseum on
Monday, June 25 at 7 pm.
This PIFL semi-final playoff game will also be the Greater Richmond Chamber of
Commerce night. Seat prices have been discounted for this event and there will also be specials
on food and drinks. A $5 merchandise discount coupon will be given to the first 300 people
through the door so make sure you get there early!
Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased via the Raiders ticket hotline, (804) 780-0430.
Upper deck seating is $5, lower bowl seating is $10, and premium sideline seats are now only
$20. (All ticket pricing will have an additional $1 facility fee and applicable tax.)

Carpenter at the Byrd

“A Night With the Mighty Wurlitzer” returns for the second year at the Byrd Theatre in Carytown
featuring organist Cameron Carpenter on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at 8 p.m.
The Byrd Theatre Foundation is a local non-profit organization on a mission to repair and
maintain the Byrd Theatre for future generations to come.
Carpenter’s initial visit was the signature fundraiser for the foundation in 2011. He will perform
music on the organ and offer comedic interludes between songs, creating a unique concert
experience to raise awareness in the Richmond community of the Byrd Theatre Foundation.
Tickets are $30 for General Admission. Student tickets are $15 with a valid ID and $75 for VIP
Seating with all show proceeds benefiting the Byrd Theatre Foundation.

4. Farm to Family’s Fundraiser

BusFarm, a new non-profit, will be announced at the Farm to Family/The Farm Bus
fundraiser on Saturday, July 14th
, 2012, from 6 – 9:30 p.m.
This event will take place at The Hilton Garden Inn, Richmond, VA. Will Allen, Founder and
CEO of Growing Power, will be the special guest speaker for the evening.
BusFarm aims to reunite people with the “hands-on process” of growing food. The founder of
Farm to Family, Mark Lilly, says “Bus Farm has the potential to avoid many issues with local
food distribution and awareness.”
The fundraiser will include a silent auction, book signing with Will Allen, and an exclusive
seasonal Local Foods Dinner.
Tickets are $150 per person. Early Bird limited ticketing is available for $135 (1 ticket), and
$250 (2 tickets) through June 22nd

5. Veterans for Hire

A veterans hiring workshop sponsored by The Virginia Department of Veterans Services will be
held at Capital One in Goochland on Tuesday, June 12th
. This event is presented by TMG Inc.
“V3-Virginia Values Veterans” will focus on educating Virginia employers and hiring managers
on how to recruit and help veterans transition back into the workplace. The workshop will also
arm ex-military personnel with important tools they can use to service potential companies.
This free event will feature Virginia’s Chief Jobs Creation Officer Lieutenant Governor, Bill
Bolling, as the Keynote Speaker. Breakfast and lunch will be provided throughout the day.
