Christology is the study of Jesus Christ, specifically his person, divinity, and work. It comes from the Greek words "Christus" meaning Messiah and "logos" meaning study. There are two basic approaches to studying and understanding Jesus - as both man and God, and more recently emphasizing his lowly, human origins and gradual revelation of his divine identity. Central to Christianity is the belief that God came to earth as the man Jesus Christ, and the cornerstone of the Christian faith is the historical reality of his sacrifice, burial, and resurrection.
