1. Title: The Gingerbread Protests in Far Far Away
For my research essay, I propose to focus on the current gingerbread protests in Far Far Away.
My working thesis statement is: Due to the hazardous baking fumes in Far Far Away, the
gingerbread men have been driven to protest. As a result, these protests have led to further unrest
and deterioration to the region, including dramatically falling property values, pollution
increases, and an overall drop in morale. However, there may be a solution to this crisis in the act
of opening a more productive dialogue between humans and baked goods. In order to support
this thesis, I have discovered a number of reliable sources through research that will complement
my own voice and argument. For example, I plan on using a public document, “Listing of Far
Far Away Small Businesses and Their Business Models” written by King Charming and a
journal article, “Over-Eating Economics: The Pig-Out Culture of Far Far Away" by Snow White
to set up my discussion on the less-than-lovable conditions of Far Far Away before the protests
in an effort to argue that they played a very big part in the prompting of the gingerbread protests.
These sources detail the environment that has been fostered in the town for generations in terms
of negative business practices and a culture that is full of greed and sugar addiction. Next, I plan
on using the book, Drury Lane: It’s Even Drurier by Muffin Man in addition to an online article,
"Dear Gingerbread Men: I’m Through Cleaning Up Your Crumbs!” by Cinder Ella to detail the
detrimental effects these protests have had on the environment of Far Far Away. These sources
give a personal, detailed account by the actual citizens that these protests affect. And, finally, in
my ending argument for opening a dialogue between bakers and gingerbread men and women, I
plan on incorporating much of the discussion prompted by Rapunzel Longfellow’s article in the
Far Far Away Times, “Let’s Use Our Mouths for Something More Productive Than Eating.” I
want to write about this topic for my research essay because I used to vacation in Far Far Away
every year with my family when I was younger. I remember with profound love the beautiful
landscape of the small town and the uniquely inviting personality of its citizens, and watching it
fall to pieces as I grew up and becoming the negatively politically charged environment that it is
today was very traumatic for me. I believe this topic is well suited for this particular research
assignment that asks for connections to be drawn between environment and citizen because this
exact phenomenon is what is fueling this crisis.
