Challenge Products Corporation Case Analysis
Anny Lyman was recruited to Challenge Products Corporation (CPC) from their competitor because
she has expertise in marketing and creativity. She is such a hardworking and creative manager that
she was showcased in a magazine and that is what makes her a very visible manager in her previous
organization. Before she was hired, CPC's products were very dominant because of high quality, low
costs, and durability of the design. But this has since changed because of the cheaper look–alike
products introduced into the market. As a result of this, CPS's market share has significantly
dropped and it gives the CEO a concern and that is where Ann Lyman's comes into the picture to try
to turn things around. She has given a brilliant proposal to the ... Show more content on

She will have to explain in detail how her new plan appeals to everyone's values and supports the
common goal. Ann Lyman will have to thoroughly explain the reason for the need for the company
to expand its product lines, the reason why they have to offer more product options at different price
levels. The more product lines CPC has with different price levels the more market share for them.
She has to give them the reasons why CPC should branch out into "trend designs" that appealed to
the contemporary lifestyles of young adults which are probably their biggest customer in the
electronic housewares. In this century, for any company or organization to continue to thrive in the
marketplace, it has to adhere to consumer demands and taste. Reciprocity according to Whetten &
Cameron, 1993, pg. 243 involves straightforward bargaining in which each party gains something
from an exchange. Ann Lyman can use the strategy of reciprocity by striking a bargain with all the
departments that will be highly impacted by a proposal in the form of offering bonus from the
potential profits that the new product offerings will generate. Reasoning and reciprocity are the best
influencing strategies to get the other members on board with her process to implementing the
changes to the sales department. Amy should be more visible to other members in the department by

Important Change In Middle School-Personal Narrative
I was terrified of starting middle school. I had attended the same elementary school for seven years,
change scared me. I've now realized how important change is, and to not fear it.
When I was just starting middle school I remember my best friend and I seeing a boy we knew
walking. When we saw him she told me " tomorrow I'm going to say goodbye to him because once
we are in middle school I will have better people to talk to, and never have to talk to him again."
During middle school I remember not speaking my thoughts because of fear of how they would
react, so I just didn't say much. Eventually they stopped talking to me or inviting me to do stuff with
them. I guess I was no different to them than the boy walking down the street. This experience

Organizational Change : An Important Part Of An Organization
Introduction:
Culture is an important part of an organization. In todays world many companies are expanding their
business by opening new plants and franchises in different countries in order to maximize their
profit margins and reduce their labor costs. As mentioned by (Lee & Lin, 2014) that operating in
different locations help companies to gain technological and market information and they can
respond to their customers quickly.
Opening business in a new country means facing a new culture, which may requires the company to
do major changes in their organizational culture so they can relate to the culture of host country. As
stated by (Gill, 2012) organizational change is important in organizational culture and it is a

This paper will review two journal articles focusing on the clash of two different cultures, the effect
of culture on the Mergers of DaimlerChrysler/Mitsubishi and Nissan /Renault mergers and discuss
the factors impacting the failure of DaimlerChrysler/Mitsubishi and the success of Renault /Nissan.
Background:
A mechanism to gain access to new resources is known as acquisition (Sarala, 2010). Culture is
comparatively a new dimension in acquisitions and mergers. According to (Sarala, 2010) culture
dimension play an important role and highlights the cultural factors such as cultural differences and
other cultural characteristics affect the outcomes of the acquisition. Article (The role of leadership in
successful international mergers and acquisitions. Gill, 2012) will review the cultural differences
and how two different Leadership styles have a totally opposite effect on the two mergers in a same
culture. Second review article selected is (Multicultural Shared Leadership in culturally diverse
Team. Ramthun & Matkin, 2012) which will address the shared leadership and diversity among
team members with focusing on national and organizational culture, this is related to the case of the
mergers discussed in the first article and may be the possible reason for the failure of
DaimlerChrysler/Mitsubishi merger.
Nissan & Mitsubishi:
Let's focus on the two main mergers selected for this paper and their different outcomes. In 1999
Nissan was ranked at number 2 in the

The Steroids: The Most Important Change
For me the most important change is supply chaining. Due to supply chaining we have been able to
create product in a quicker and cheaper way. With supply chaining you are able to make small
adjustments to your framework at every step of the way. Whether it is the customer's requests and
information flowing up stream or the supplier items flowing down stream to the customer, without
the vast worldwide supply chain that has been created there are many products or resources that may
not exist today or would end up being too expensive to afford, without it.
As for the government, the concept of "The Steroids" is the most influential, in my opinion. This is
because without a large digital infrastructure, the government would have to rely heavily

New Digital Display Price Or Digital Shopping Essay

The countdown to the next should be to make the new digital display price or digital shopping
display in the bus station where people ordered products and collect from store, so they save
time. Which is already in use in Australia?
 Environmental factor
Countdown always care about the environment too, such as donations of food and damage
their products to the Salvation Army, thus reducing the waste remanufacturing new figures
show that in order to save paper to do so after this save trees.
 Legal factor
The Government 's policy to control and reduce monopoly power of buyers can restrict access
to the industry 's control; obtain a license as a raw material requirements and restrictions. In
order to achieve politically correct pricing strategy, Tesco provide consumers spend money in
their grocery store based on the purchase of fuel prices. While commodity prices are down a
promotion, in–store price increase to compensate elsewhere. Liquor sales policy, for example,
we cannot sell alcohol at 18 years of age or we always ask for ID if a person looks under 18
years of age.
Management approach
Operations are the essential action for any retail business. All things considered, a business that
needs to be effective needs a main working model. Staffs assumes essential part in this model. It is
important to put a managed centre upon how to grow best operational staff to guarantee the grocery

Impact Of Technology On Society
The Impact of Technology on Society
"Given that technology and technological systems are important in every culture around the world, it
is absolutely essential that they become a primary focus of study.¨ Rodney L. Custer, author of
Examining the Dimensions of Technology, uses this quote to describe the importance of technology
and the impact it has around the world. Technology has always been an important field of study
because of the many ways we have found to revolutionize our way of life. Lieve Van Woensel and
Geoff Archer, authors of "Ten technologies which could change our lives", give some examples of
how technology has revolutionized our way of life in ways such as "the ability to discover
previously unexplored places, coordinate our activities at home and in the workplace, and
communicate with each other instantaneously." These are only a few ways in which we have used
technology to improve our lives. Bill Gates, author of "The Road Ahead" and founder of Microsoft,
says that "Technology changes will change how the world works –– how people connect with each
other." These changes have had a big impact on the way the world operates today. Technology has
advanced more in the last 100 years than since the dawn of civilization. How has technology been
able to become so developed in such a short amount of time? To help answer that question, Justin
Cook, owner of Glass City PC, says that "Key industrialists and innovators during the Industrial
Revolution have laid the groundwork for the advancements in technology that we have today." The
Industrial Revolution has made rapid advances in technology possible in such a short time period.
How will technology impact our future? To answer that question, William J. Kubitz, author of
"Computer Technology: A Forecast for the Future" says that "Technology will only continue to
improve over time. The ever–increasing complexity and lower cost of integrated circuit and
computer technology will radically change our lives in the next 20 years." Future technology will
drastically change our lives in many innovative and unexpected ways. Although there are a
staggering number of positive things to come from advancements in technology, there are also a few
drawbacks. According

Factors That Play Important Roles in the Change of Testimony
Running Head: Human Factors Question Human Factors Question Introduction Walter (2002) has
mentioned that fallibility of witness is an important issue in the American justice system. Honesty of
eyewitnesses during the trial is an important issue that has concerned most in the American justice
system. In the presence of a testimony from an eye witness, jury can judge better as greater impact
of an eye witness is seen on the jury members. Ziskin, Faust and Anderer (2011) have mentioned
that the main responsibility of the jury members is the sorting out of credibility issues and judging
the level of truth presented by the witnesses. Perjury is thought to be a crime as if a witness can lie
in the witness stand; it can have negative effects on the judgments of the jury, on the dignity held by
the trial, and legitimacy of the judicial systems in America. Pezdek (2007) have mentioned that there
are many definitions for perjury but one of the most important statements in these cases is to make
false statement on the witness stand with having an intention of lying. In any judicial system, lying
is a crime, memory loss or not remembering a certain event is not considered a crime. Cohen and
Conway (2008) have argued that the credibility and authenticity of the jury is decided by the jury in
pure secrecy. The final judgments that are given by the jury are given without any disclosure of
specific reasons of the judgments. Thereby from here it can be seen that the fallibility of the

Change By John P Kotter
Introduction
The definition of change according to the Webster dictionary is "to become different or to make
someone or something different." John P Kotter writes that change is always about "changing the
behavior of people" (preface XII) Kotter explains that change is a concept that is used by
organizations to restructure or improve their business behavior. Many companies find it difficult to
initiate change due to the lack of motivating employees or leaders. In his book, Kotter proposes an
eight stage process that could help organizations that are looking for change.
Discussion
The Eight important stages of change by John P. Kotter
Stage one: Establishing a Sense of Urgency
In this stage Kotter shares business stories of successful companies that increased urgency to spark a
change. He explains that there are four behaviors which could prevent change. Behaviors like
"complacency, immobilization, self–protection, you–can't–make–me–move deviance, and
pessimistic attitude that leads to constant hesitation." (Kotter and Cohen, p17) These four negative
elements have to be approached carefully because if they are not the employees wouldn't not have
any sense of urgency to perform any changes. To have a successful introduction to change and for it
to be received with urgency, it has to be presented in a way that the leaders of an organization will
back it up, because they are "part of a larger activity aimed at helping to lower feelings undermining
urgency." (Kotter

Personal Narrative: The Amazing Law Of Influence
The Amazing law of influence states "One life touches another and potentially both lives are
changed; one life touches another and potentially the entire world is changed" This was evident in
the movie Radio when Coach Jones changed how the world viewed people with special needs by
one small act. When Coach Jones was a coaching the JV football team at Hanna high school, he
noticed a boy watching them practice day after day, and soon started watching the games. One Day
a couple of Coach Jones's players had harassed the boy, locking him up, and throwing balls at the
shack they put him in. This boy was soon to be known by the name of Radio. Coach was furious,
and within the next couple of days Coach Jones went over and apologizes to Radio, and ... Show

Then Radio turned it around and gave everyone else presents for Christmas. This is important
because this showed how the whole community started to change as a whole, in a better way.
Showing how the law of influence started to take effect on the town. This also shows that if one
person sticks up for what is right then everyone will soon follow, and kindness will fill the hearts of
many. Kindness is also important in my own life. For example, when I was in the W.E.B program at
my middle school (Where Everyone Belongs) I had to welcome about 20 students to the school for
each grade. The year I did W.E.B was the first year this took place so I had to welcome in 6th
graders, and 7the graders. Together I had about 30–40 students coming in under me and depending
on me. Many of the kids were scared to come to a new school. Most of the kids came from other
schools so many of them did not know anyone else. I got the amazing chance to welcome them with
open arms with lots of smiles and love, all it took was a simple act of kindness, and some candy of
course and everyone was happy and had a place. We would meet once a week for lunch, and through
that year some of the kids came to me about grades and how they could get them up, and another kid
came to me about being bullied and how to make it stop, and all I did was let them talk and tried to
help them. This is important because I got to help the kids under me, and I got to be the friend they
needed when they were coming into a new place for the first time. This also shows that one small
act of kindness can change how people feel, for better or worse. Not only can it change someone
else's life, but it can change your

Essay on Comparison of the Power of One Movie and Book
Differences and Similarities in a Tale of Courage
For many years Hollywood has been making blockbuster movies based on bestselling novels, but
often these movies differ greatly from the novel . The movie The Power of One based on a book of
the same name follows this trend. The Power of One tells the story of Peekay, a boy living in South
Africa who dreams of becoming the welterweight champion of the world, and who tries to correct
the injustice that goes on around him. Although the movie does keep the main themes of the novel
like racism and how one person can change the world. The film adds new plot twists and characters
that make the story more exciting, but also changes important characters and storylines from the ...

Peekays mom is another character that appeared in both the novel and film, but not in the same
context. In both versions Peekays mother suffers a Nervous breakdown, causing Peekay to be sent in
boarding school. In the movie she dies after Peekay is sent to boarding school from an unknown
cause. While in the book she recovers from her mental breakdown and becomes a Born again
Christian. By eliminating the mother, the movie does not show the complicated relationship Peekay
had with his mother in the book.
An obvious difference between a novel and its movie is the way characters are portrayed. In the
movie of The Power of One, the protagonist is portrayed very similar to the novel. In both the novel
and film Peekay is portrayed as a courageous hero who faces adversity, and who tries to change the
world around him. One thing the movie does not truly show like the book did, is Peekay's desire to
become the welterweight champion of the world. "If I had to choose between becoming the
welterweight champion of the world and taking a law degree at oxford, the boxing would win"
[Courtenay 463].In the movie Peekays boxing takes a back seat to his desire to help the black people
of South Africa . While in the book, Peekay's dream of becoming the welterweight champion of the
world is the main focus in the protagonists mind. Morrie is another character that is portrayed
differently from the book. In the movie Morrie role is not as prominent

Climate Change : The Most Important Issue Of Climate Change
Climate change is the most important policy issue of our time, and it is up to the current generations
to prevent further extreme climate changes. Climate change is defined as significant changes in the
climate, like temperature and wind patterns, over the past couple of decades (U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency "Glossary of Climate Change Terms"). The earth's temperature has risen by an
average of 1.4 degrees Fahrenheit and if it is not contained it could rise even further (U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency "Science to Protect Public Health and the Environment, EPA
Research Program Overview 2016–2019" pg. 2). The weather patterns across the earth have become
more severe and citizens are having to get used to extreme weather like droughts and floods.
Climate Change is the most important policy issue because it affects the resourcefulness and
cleanness of air and water, which the U.S. and all nations depend upon. Climate Change is a clear
and present threat to the health of U.S. citizens because it affects the air quality. Climate Change
with the help of pollutants caused by citizens such as waste, biomass, and fossil fuels, are the main
causes of air pollutants in the United States, which makes it harder to produce crops and breathe in
cleaner air (Massetti et al. pg. VII). If the air quality is not improved, which it has been improving
over the past couple of decades, there are greater chances of heart attacks, respiratory illnesses, and
asthma (U.S. Environmental

When thinking about which theory to do for my theory of change experiential pop in my head for
more than one reasons. First reason, is this theory is the one that stands out for me the most.
Secondly, I wanted to research more about experiential theory, in order to form a better
understanding. Experiential therapy, is the type of theory that help encourage their client's to become
more aware of their hidden or subconscious issues through their experiences. The therapist dose this
by role playing and through imagery. Therefore, there are more than one way for experiential
therapist to help their client to be able to identify key issues in their life. Furthermore, experiential
allows there to be space for the client to open up and talk about their experiences. By doing this it
provide a safe haven for the client's to address their underlying issues they have bottle deep inside of
them. It also allows for them to have a place to share these unsure emotions through their own
experiences and how it had impacted not only them, but their relationships with loved ones and or
friends. Having this type awareness is vitally to this approach and help them to further develop and
grown from these experiences that provided them with the opportunity to grow from them. The role
of the therapist is, to help guide their client's to work through their issues through the use of their
experience. Therefore, as the therapist it's up to them to provide them with enough space to be able

Informative Essay: Why Is Climate Change So Important?
Why is climate change so important? Is it because we all believe in the end of the world, is based
from a cooked–up theory suggesting our planet will explode as the temperature rises. Is the problem
with the changing of the Earth, or is it with the people going against it? To the public, the effects of
climate change are revealed to many as a formality which is rather forgotten, and intentionally
ignored. But is this stance such a bad one to take. With the changes in the Earth's environment,
comes warmer weather, longer summers, longer vacations equaling more money. Isn't this what
people care about, the money. Are going to set aside the way we live to improve the ever–increasing
temperature of the Earth. For a result, which bears no relevance ... Show more content on

The only argument which is produced from this topic, is what to do next, this has been the ongoing
question which drives my claim. Why do anything at all if one does not know what to do. For most
activist, a solution which is provided is one of unknown side effects. What is seen on the surface of
any solution give is a sacrifice of a system which has progressed in an exponential way. Why break
something which is not broken, the trust if any, which should be given should be alongside the
evolution of technology. A technology which in the past century adversely benefited the world, with
a basis of knowledge which is just breaching the surface. Effects of technology in a changing world
where "Child and maternal mortality rates have plunged. Access to education has soared. Deep
poverty is in sharp retreat. Despite the 24/7 distilled drama online and on TV, violence on scales of
war to homicide has been in a long decline..." (Revkin). Rather than blame the man for its flaws, we
should be praising ourselves for its progression, solving problems which had been plaguing man for
centuries, and progressing beyond limitation placed on man in the past. The solution to this the
current problem of climate change, should be through the trust of our very own minds, through our
progressions of our knowledge, comes the progression of our technology, benefiting the problems of
our world. Trust the process, trust your fellow man or woman. "After tens of thousands of years of
scrabbling by, spreading around the planet, and developing the tools of increasing sophistication,
humans are in surge mode and have only just started to become aware that something profound is
going on." (Revkin). As we have in the past, we will weather the storm, and looking back ten years,
twenty years from now, we will be looking at the effects of climate change as a figment of the past.

Reaction Paper About Stress
Stress is how the brain and body respond to any change that requires an adjustment or response.
Throughout our lives we have been told by our friends and family that we need to minimize our
stress and manage it before it gets too out of hand. This leads to us looking at stress as a terrible
thing that will ruin our lives. Everyone is affected by stress and it is something that is a part of our
daily lives. The key thing to remember is that stress is not always a bad thing. It has been proven
that looking at stress as a good thing rather than a bad thing can actually make you stress less. There
are two main types of stress. Eustress, which is the good stress, and distress which is the bad stress.
Dealing with the eustress is what most people will think is relatively easy as you don't have to do
anything about it and don't have to get rid of it., it's the distress that people tend to have issues
controlling. Being stressed for a long period of time can lead to a number of different problems such
as anxiety. It is important to recognize that you are stressed, figure out exactly what is stressing you
out, and then act according to what your stressor is. In order to minimize or even get rid of your
stress and anxiety, you will need to know the symptoms, common stressors, and when, where, and
how to seek professional help.
Stress and anxiety is something that can be very hard to recognize in ourselves. People tend to deny
that they are stressed, or even just mistake the symptoms

(Woodward, 2004) The Government has recognised this trend and has targeted the public through
consumerism which appeals to our new fixation with "buying" our identity in terms of
encouragement of a healthy lifestyle through the media. (Hinchliffe, Woodward, 2004) Our
knowledge about health has also changed – people are trying to find other ways of knowing about
health and illness. In the 1950s experts were treated as providing infallible information. There is
now increasing uncertainty brought about by our knowledge that experts are sometimes wrong, for
example as in the recent case of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. (Goldblatt, 2004) However,
diversity means that certain groups of people are enjoying much better health than others and that
these health inequalities appear to be linked to larger socioeconomic patterns. There is a positive
correlation between the two. The links between social class and health include other factors, such as
gender and ethnicity. There is a clear and persistent social gradient in mortality rates at all ages and
despite medical advances since the 1950s the differences in health chances by class are increasing.
Supported by the 2001 Census (UK Census Preliminary Report 2003) there is a suggestion that
disparity exists due to our

Unit Four: Principles of Supporting Change in a Business...
Section 1 – Understand why change happens in a business environment
1. Explain why change happens in a business environment. You should include at least three reasons
in your answer.
Change happens in a business environment for a variety of reasons. Those reasons depend on both
internal and external factors.
For example as internal reasons for change would be the launch of a new product or service that a
company is working on .
As for external factors one of the external factors would be perhaps a new law that is given and
affects directly or indirectly the business and that business needs to make some changes.
Another reason for change might be some new technology that will definitely improve and help
develop the business such ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another type of support that may be required is updates to the up coming changes so people know
where they stand and what is expected of them.
While the business strives to better their image mistakes can be made in the process of change and a
good sense of understanding is also necessary.
Some people do not react well to changes and during these times they need updates to the changes
and most of all understanding.
A good business will know to understand that their employees need understanding in a time like this
and not to put too much pressure which will only make things worse.
b) Explain the benefits of working with others.
Benefits in working with others when going through change gives a sense of unity and the feeling
that you are not alone and that together you will be successful in adapting to all that is new.
Also working in a team give people the chance to be supportive with each other and help one
another.
That is why when a co worker has a problem in understanding some aspects of a new software and a
co worker is there as well and they understand it better they can offer some knowledge and help the
person feel less stressed.
Section 3 – Understand how to respond to change in a business environment
1. In relation to your current business environment (or one that you are familiar with):
a) Explain why you should respond positively to changes in working methods.

Is It Important To Change Your Social Class
In modern society, social class has a major influence in how we live our lives. Often, it determines
what type of opportunities present themselves and how often they occur. Your class determines the
people you associate with, your level of education, and your overall success in the world. Some
people will tell you that you should always try to rise to the top, using any means necessary. The
people who argue this are often the ones who demand the peak performance out of absolutely
everything, regardless of the cost. It is often apparent where they are coming from with this
viewpoint, but it is not without it's flaws. The main philosophy that defeats the presented argument
is that just because you can do something, it does not always mean ... Show more content on

For example, a person born into a poor family can find their way to success in life. However, it
requires a great amount of concentration, dedication, and hard work. Even though it sounds simple,
the end result is not as easily attainable as one would hope. Often, extraneous circumstances will
hold certain individuals back from success. Also, a great deal of people wind up cancelling their
efforts when they realize how much they need to work to achieve results. Finally, it is worth that it is
not just poor people who can change their social classes. Anyone can do it, but it requires different
amounts of effort for each class. To summarize, social class has a large effect on people's lives in the
modern world, and if you so desire, you can change it. Your class determines what opportunities you
have, your education level, and how people perceive you as a person. There are examples of this in
both The Great Gatsby and in real life. One should not change their class for the sake of changing,
however. If you are satisfied with where you are, then there is no need to change. But if you are
stuck at the bottom and desire to improve your situation, then you may do as you wish, but be aware
that it will be a long and difficult

Climate Change Is An Important Issue That Concerns Humanity
Climate change is an important issue that concerns humanity. Climate change refers to an increase in
average global temperatures. Every day, the enhanced greenhouse effect continues to advance,
which significantly influences Earth's long–term climate. In addition, human activity is also
contributing to the increase of global warming and is already leading to harmful consequences.
Some people believe that global warming is not occurring and the heating of the globe, is just a part
of the Earth's natural cycle. Several consequences such as, ice caps melting, show us that global
warming is in fact occurring. Therefore, we should start making changes in order to reduce future
damages to the Earth.
The enhanced greenhouse gas effect is one of the many reasons why global warming is occurring.
Heat that is being trapped by the Earth's surface is known as the natural greenhouse effect. However,
throughout the last decades since the Industrial Revolution, the natural greenhouse effect has been
disrupted due to greenhouse gas trapping too much heat in the Earth's atmosphere. The enhanced
greenhouse gas effect is the extra heating of the Earth's atmosphere caused by increased levels of
greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide and methane, in the atmosphere. According to Cheryl
Jakabs, carbon dioxide levels are now 100 parts per million higher than the beginning of the 1800s.
Furthermore, this increase of greenhouse gases may lead to an increase of natural disasters. The

Analysis Of ' I Was A Puerto Rican, By Esmeralda Santiago
Question 1 – Foreshadowing
"I push my cart away, toward the apples and pears of my adulthood, their nearly seedless ripeness
predictable and bittersweet." This quote, and entire prologue, are taken from the memoir When I
was a Puerto Rican, by Esmeralda Santiago and they foreshadow that her whole life is changed, just
like the fruit she eats and that are in her life. Santiago life is totally turned around in this memoir and
the prologue shows that. The author "weaves" foreshadowing into the memoir by showing us how
her life changed dramatically and once she came to the United States everything was different, just
like fruit here in the United States and in Puerto Rico. The author uses the technique of
foreshadowing to give something to look forward to in her story and build suspense and
anticipation.
Santiago used foreshadowing to show that her life changed and that it changed a lot. Her life is
foreshadowed that it will change and that she lets her past go. Leaving her past in the past and
moving on with her present and future. Santiago's life was horrible growing up. Her parents did not
always get along, their home was not always safe, clean, and good for her and her family, they were
always moving, etc. After they moved to New York, a couple years later, her life was changed. She
was offered an acting role and then later on went to Harvard with a scholarship. As you can see, she
left her past in the past and went on with her amazing new life. When I was a Puerto

Why Is It Important To Respond To Change?
Change can be a enormous word in an insignificant way . While, no one wants to change, they love
the transition once the results are in. Personally ,I would have a meeting with my staff to inform
them about the floor plan . Thus, asking for feedback on the plans would ensure that they feel their
opinion is valued. Furthermore, I would explain the reason for the changes to come ,and inform the
staff on the study that was the foundation for the modification . Talking straight would help the unit
to comprehend the goals and encourage staff to give feedback. Respect of others apprehensive of the
change is important to acknowledge .Although, as a manger you can't always appease everybody , I
would have a talk with the staff that is spreading negativity in a nonjudgmental way, to see how we

This theory works for me since, the focus is upon interpersonal relationship. According, to Clarke

detrimental to the harmony of the unit. The first, phase is the orientation stage in which the staff is
introduced to the changes. The next, step is to identify the discomfort and explore ways to alleviate
the anxiety toward the changes and last for the staff to feel comfortable to function on their own in a

staff to feel that their jobs are not on the line or they would be punished for voicing their concerns.

How Has The Workplace Changed In The 1990s And 1980s
– The methods that people have been used in the workplace has been constantly changing over time.
Change has mainly been driven by the increase in population, advancement in technology, and the
amount of information being shared. Each age is a period in human history that has been vastly
different from each another age. The current age can be called the change age, due to all the changes
that are being made in the workplace.
– In the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s it was considered better to do nothing than do the wrong thing.
Corporations created a hierarchy system for management to find the correct action to take. This
system caused corporations to take a long time to process any desired changes. The system was
changed in the 1990s and early 2000s

Weather Change : The Most Important Factors And Climate...
Many places on Earth have regular changes in the weather throughout the year. We call these the
seasons. The seasons are affected by the amount of sunlight an area gets throughout the year. Many
things contribute to the amount of sunlight that reaches different areas on the Earth. These factors
affect the changing seasons: The most important factor is the angle that the sunlight hits the Earth's
surface throughout the year. Direct sunlight is warmer than sunlight hitting the Earth at an angle.
The other factor is length of the day how long the sun shines on an area each day. Longer days get
more sunshine. (Amsel 2005)
During the summer the northern hemisphere gets more sunlight meaning the days are longer. In
elementary school in science classes it was taught that the season changes due to how the earth is
positioned. Lately climatologist found it hard to track the weather because of the weather's
inconsistency. For example, early in the fall it still feels like it is summer. " Most of the observed
warming over the last 50 years is likely to have been due to the increase in greenhouse gas
concentrations" (Linderholm 2006.) There are varieties of reason that researcher's blame for the
climate change such as: the earth's tilt, global warming, and human caused changes. Here on Earth
the weather changes every couple of months. Scholars categorized these weather changes as season:
summer, monsoon, fall, winter, and spring. These season posse's there own

How Change Is Important For The Workplace
My initial reactions to change in the workplace is, "how will this affect me and does it offer me
growth here at the company". Previously, in my professional career I have experienced change as an
employee thereby having the role to accept and apply the changes. I have yet to have the role of
implement or creating changes in a company. For me change is necessary and a refreshing
modification in a workplace. I have always welcomed changed both in my professional career as
well as my personal life. If I am given the opportunity to stay in one place forever or make a change
I would take the latter of the two and make a change. Change is important for growth to me. Change

Therefore, I take the time to read memos, speak with management, and ask questions to better
understand the changes. I process changes by first understanding what is changing and what that
means for the company. For me understanding the overall benefit is important so I can have a
positive perception of the company's goals and vision. Next I evaluate if the changes will affect my
job role or me personally. If I am going to be affected, then I need to ensure I can meet the new
expectations and see if there is growth potential still. I believe change should be productive for all
employees whether directly or indirectly (Lussier, 2015). Changes happen at all levels of the
company's pyramid and some changes may take time where other may happen faster, either way
change is essential for company growth and competitive advantage in the market (Lussier, 2015).
With change comes challenges and those challenges usually scared people and make them resistant
to change. Change is uncomfortable to many people because it makes them feel vulnerable
regarding being in control and uncertain about their future (Lussier, 2015). Change can interfere
with people's autonomy and lead people wondering and assuming the worst. The challenges change
brings is not only for the employees but for management. Management has the challenge of trying to

The Change Management Plan Is A Very Important Process...
The change management plan is a very important process that helps a business owner. The plan is
used when an organization wants to implement some change to a process or to a system. It ensures
that the plan is effectively implemented. As much as the plan is important it is designed to be used
alongside the project plan. The management plan is divided into six steps or 3 stages. The 3 stages
are Stage A (step 1, 2, 3), Stage B (step 4, 5), Stage C (step 6). They are all broken down into steps
as follows.
The first step in the process is identifying the change that is to come with tracking sales. Here, one
will be able to define the current state, classify the size and the features of the change, describe what
to expect in the upcoming future, and recognize the thought of shifts, and the structural willingness
to change.
Different types of change are as follows: the process change, policy change, the changed job roles,
system change, and the scale of change along with the speed of change– fast or slow.
I will also describe the motive for the change. The main motives for the change in the sales tracking
is to improve efficiency while reducing cost. The scope of the change should also be discussed. As
for this case, the sales department is the only department to be affected. The sales executives will
need to learn a new system. I am required to explain to the sales staff where we are right now and
where we intend to achieve with the new changes.
There will be need for the sales

How Change Is Inevitable And It Is Important For Companies
Organizational change is inevitable and it is important for companies to embrace and implement
change without suffering severe consequences. Change can occur for several reasons, but first let's
discuss two different categories where change comes from. Change has two drivers: external and
internal. Things such as laws, demographics, competition, or the economy drives external change;
while internal change is driven by internal factors such as new management systems, increase in
morale or the implementation of new technology. People naturally fear change and most will resist
it. In order for a company to transition smoothly, it will need to do extensive planning from
beginning to end. There are several steps a company can take to make the adjustment easier, starting
with managing the change appropriately.
It is extremely important to manage change appropriately from the very beginning in order to
eliminate any immediate negative side effects. The first step is to select a management team to lead
the change. A plan of action needs to be in place and it must address issues that are likely to occur,
such as employee resistance. The management team should be active, visible and approachable by
all employees. Talk and discuss the changes that will be taking place, give reasons of why the
changes are happening. David Jones, change consultant, said "Get clear about why you need to
make a change. Is there a business imperative?" (Robinson). Employees are more understanding

Changing The Importance Of The Destination In Homer's Odyssey
It's 6 in the morning every time we leave for Billings. Even though it's just a two–hour drive, I hate
the part of waking up so early. Now comes the checking of the luggage; dog food, pillows, snacks,
in–the–car activities. One trip, however changed everything. I moved back to sheridan when my
grandpa got sick, and the two– hour drive seemed like an eternity leaving everything I loved in
Billings. That's when the journey mattered more than the destination, when the journey changes the
importance of the destination.
One way to look at how the important the journey is in comparison to the importance of the
destination, is through the Odyssey. The whole epic is about the journey and how it changes the
importance of the destination to Odysseus. He was gone for twenty years and all that time he was
dealing with gods, monsters, the ocean, even his own men. While in the process of all ... Show more

It happens to all of us, whether we're prepared or not. Change occurs when you least expect it and
everyone changes in their own way. Growing up is a physical change. You don't stay a baby forever,
we all grow up and live our lives and life always asks different things from different people. That's
all based on how we go through our lives; our journey until we reach our final destination. Death.
Another piece from Anne Sexton's Courage shows this perfectly. "It is in the small things we see it.
The child's first step, as awesome as an earthquake." (Lines 1–3) and "you'll bargain with the
calendar and at the last moment when death opens the back door you'll put on your carpet slippers
and stride out." (Lines 43–47). Life isn't always going to be easy, and we need all the help we can

Courage defines a small portion of who we are as people. We need courage on our journeys through

Why Is Civil Disobedience Important To Social Change
Communities often create laws that are not agreed upon by all members, and how people react to
these unjust laws in protest is essential for change. Civil disobedience is and has been crucial in
social change. In recent history there are many people who have succeeded in changing law by
showing their beliefs, such as Nelson Mandela, Mahatma Gandhi and Rosa Parks. Each of these
heroes fought for justice by incredible, unique means to show determination for change to happen.
Martin Luther King Jr. once said, "An individual who breaks a law that conscience tells him is

In Montgomery, Alabama, on December 1, 1955, Rosa Parks refused to give up her bus set to a
white man after a long day of work. Parks defied a city law that stated that if there were no more
seats for a white person to sit, an African American was to give up theirs. If an African American
passenger refused to give up their seat, the bus driver had the authority to decline service and call
the constabulary. Police arrested Parks at the scene and charged her with violation of Chapter 6,
Section 11, of the Montgomery City Code. She was released later the night of her arrest. The
evening of her arrest, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, arranged
plans to organize a boycott of the Montgomery city buses. The African American community was to
not ride the buses, but walk or ride a bike to wherever they had to do. On the day of Park's trial,
December 5, 1955, as a protest , people were to stay home from work and school, take a cab, or

government and busing system lost thousands of dollars from not having crowded buses full of
riders. "Racism is still with us. But it is up to us to prepare our children for what they have to meet,

John P. Kotter's Eight Stages Of Change
Introduction
The definition of change according to the Webster dictionary is "to become different or to make
someone or something different." John P Kotter writes that change is always about "changing the
behavior of people" (preface XII) Kotter explains that change is a concept that is used by
organizations to restructure or improve their business behavior. Many companies find it difficult to
initiate change due to the lack of motivate employees or leaders. In his book Kotter proposes eight
stage process that could help organizations that are looking for change.

Stage one: Establishing a Sense of Urgency
In this stage Kotter shares business stories of successful companies that increased urgency to spark a

He explains that when the right team is not there changes will not happen. "Those who should be
driving change are not doing their job, and nobody wants to confront the issue," (Kotter and Cohen,
p38) if the team itself is fragmented and it is not functioning properly improvement and change at
the work environment will never happen. To create effective teams you need the right people that
can work together as a team. Kotten list four ingredients that are important to create a good team on
page 46 of Kotter and Cohen book:
A single individual who feels great urgency usually pulls in the first people.
Individuals are selected to have the right combination of capabilities within the team.
The team is created by pulling people in and occasionally pushing people out.
As change progresses throughout large organizations, additional group are formed at lower levels.

How Change is Important to Grow Essay
The area of study: change, has helped me deepened my understanding on the different forms of
change and how change can affect people in different way. During my study of Tim Winton's book
"The Turning" and Michael Jackson's song "Man in the Mirror ",I have learnt that change is
important in order for a person to grow and can take many forms in any aspect of our lives. Tim
Winton's Big World has helped me understand a new face of change. The change in the story is
about the changing relationship between the narrator and his best friend Biggie and the narrator's

changed from a person who believes that his future is bleak to a person who opened his mind to new
possibilities, which he has gained from his past failures and from his relationship with Biggie.
Tim Winton portrayal of changing relationship in "Big World" has helped me understand how the
dejection we get from a commensalistic relationship can conclude with a positive perspective on
how relationships are a learning curve for change and experience.
Change plays an important role in constructing emphasis of one's changing perspective and it has
shown how significant one's view is in shaping one's identity and personality that was shown in Tim
Winton's "On Her Knees".
In "On Her Knees" it show's Vic change of perspective and attitudes towards his mother's principle

creating a negative imagery towards his mother. This technique is used to reflect his own candid
understanding to his mother's individuality. He can only see the facade of his mother's egotistical
behaviour similar to how he sees time and work has taken away her youth. Vic described her as
someone who has "ravaged hand" and her "veins stood out in her calves" that shows how her mother

Change In The Things They Carried By Tim O Brien
Imagine a novel or a movie that is about war that has not even one change in a character's
personality. Change is really important in many novels and movies for instance in Batman VS
Superman: Dawn of Justice, the theme of change takes a huge role in the movie because by the end
of the movie Batman and Superman unite after being against each other or in George Orwell's
allegory about the Russian Revolution "Animal Farm" the theme of change takes a huge role also
because in the beginning the pigs order the animals in the farm to rebel against their bad farmer Mr.
Jones and Humanity but by the end the pigs became friends with the humans as if no rebellion
happened. The of change is really important for all the stories that are about fights or war. In "The

How Change Is Important For The Success Of Managing Change
Change plays a vital role in the world of business. It is also an aspect that cannot be stopped, it can
only be managed or led, no matter how much businesses try – change is inevitable. Therefore, it is
the job of the company to be able to quickly adapt when change hits. There are many aspects which
can contribute to the need for change, both internal and external. Change management can be
regarded as managers applying their 'existing knowledge base in a systematic manner to problems
requiring technical solutions, with minimal inputs from other quarters ... in a static and isolated
environment' (Paton and McCalaman, 2000, p.21). However, businesses do not have to fear change,

This framework can help to identify areas which need to be changed, to improve performance. For
instance, under the 'superordinate goals' element are the mission, vision, goals and objectives
(Johnson et al., 2014). If this element is different to what is desired by the company, then change is
required. In addition, if members of staff are underperforming, then it can be identified that a change
is necessary.
Therefore, it can identify internal triggers which may bring about the need for change, such as:
New senior management or chief executive
Poor performance of staff
Loss of profit
New missions, visions, goals and objectives
High employee turnover
Low morale of staff
The use of new technology
The relocation of factory, staff, resources, etc.
Merger, Acquisition, Takeover or Divestment
Shortages or surpluses of labour (Huczynski and Buchanan, 2013; Johnson et al., 2014; Paton and
McCalman, 2000)
In addition, the 7s' can be split into 'hard' and 'soft' factors. Hard factors, such as: strategy, structure
and systems, are easily identifiable, limited problems in which solutions are more feasible (Paton
and McCalaman, 2000). According to Sirken, Keenan and Jackson (2006), hard factors have three

Eliee Character Quotes In Night
In the book Night, Elie's character trait changes throughout the book. This is mainly caused by the
things happening to him and other Jews. This changes changes him into a completely new person
with new believes and views about the world. Over the course of the book, Elie changes from a
person who believes in good and that God is fair to someone who is bitter, angry at his God, and
only thinks about surviving. This is important to the book as a whole because it connects to his
central character trait and how it changed throughout the book. The change is apparent when he was
angry at his God for not preventing the barbick actions of the Germans, when he talks about how
men were stronger than God, and when his father died he couldn't think of anything but how to
survive.
At the start of the book Elie was an innocent kid that only wanted to learn new things and dedicated
himself to his God and family. Elie became friends with a foreign Jew that lived in his town name
Moshe the Beadle. Elie started to ask questions that he didn't normally ask when one day Moshe
asked him why did he pray, "Why did I pray? Why did I live? Why did I breathe?" (Page 4) This

the thought to pray to his God to give him strength as well as thanking his God for the food he got
because his constant need to eat to be able to survive was all he thought and dreamed about. The
reader can infer that Elie no longer thought of his past at this point or about who he used to be,
which supports the argument that Elie's condition at this moment and what had happened to him had

Comparison In 'The ElephantAnd' The Secret Lost In The Water?
For every activity one does, time is very important for the activity. In stories, chronology is
especially important for it helps the reader understand what is happening but also gains a message
from it. Chronological order is part of the plot diagram in any story where the story begins which
takes the reader to rising action. The author of Elephant, Slawomir Mrozek and the author of The
Secret Lost in the Water, Roch Carrier showed how chronology is very important to the story. These
authors used different themes to portray chronology. This can be demonstrated through the loss of
faith, psychology of believing and through appearance vs reality. Therefore, variations of
chronology have been shown. Moreover, chronology is very important to the story and this is shown
through the loss of faith in characters. In the story, The Elephant, there are zoo keepers who know
there are kids coming to their zoo who want to see an elephant. However they did not have one so
they blew a balloon elephant instead. This tricked the kids until it popped and caused
disappointment to arise in the children. "The school children who had witnesses the scene in the zoo
soon started neglecting their studies and turned into hooligans" (Mrozek 106). This demonstrates
how the past events made the kids into terrible people. They believe whatever they learned as a child
was all untrue and they feel as if their whole life is a lie. They begin to lose faith in what they
learned and give up on their lives. On the other hand, Roch Carrier demonstrated loss of faith
through the protagonist. The protagonist learned something from his father on how to find fresh
water. However the main character forgets his father's tactics and is unable to find fresh water
underground. "Somewhere along the roads I'd taken since the village of my childhood I had
forgotten my father's knowledge" (Carrier 96). This quote shows how this character is losing faith.
He cannot believe how he forgot his dad's secret technique and now believes that he has learned
nothing from his dad. He feels worthless. These two books show how both characters in both stories
have lost faith and have struggled since a certain time in their lives. The loss of faith can also

Resistance To Change Analysis
assess during the change process, and also change direction if necessary.
Strategies
The organization must implement specific strategies to identify and resolve resistance to change. O
Connor (1993) stated "In an organization, resistance is opposition or witholding of support for
specific plans or ideas. It can either be intentional or unintentional, covert or overt" (p. 30).
Employees will likely consider how change affects them personally and that may naturally cause
some resistance. One of the most important things an organization can do to minimize resistance is
to address these personal concerns. It is also important to identify any potential loss or gain that
comes from implementing, or not implementing, the change initiative. Leaders ... Show more

Leaders have to give stakeholders the opportunity to properly digest information, and react to
change, especially if it affects them directly. Understanding that a disruption may occur also
provides the leaders with an opportunity to address issues and assess the need for training. Properly
allocating an honest timeframe for all stages of the change process gives the organization an
opportunity to set realistic goals. This means allowing for the training of employees that may require
it to be successful in projected goals. Treating employees fairly and setting them up to be successful
is not only good for them, but also for the productivity and possibility of success of the organization
as a whole. During the assessment phase leaders must have an honest reflection of the entire
process, considering the areas of both success and failure. Leaders must be fair in their assessment
of the outcomes and be able to take responsibility for making decisions and the effects of those
decisions (Stainer, 2004).
Properly responding to ethical issues include the following: recognizing the issue, using ethical
judgment in assessment of the issue, behaving ethically, and the moral intent (Jones, 1991; Rest,
1986). The organization must be transparent in identifying the problem and actively work to correct
the issue. Because regulations and laws are in place to protect people from any ethical mistreatment,

like a close family member dying or a small change like buying new clothes. In the song, ¨Man in

and how he feels bad for them. He has always been looking past these kids and pretending not to see

1. What does it mean when one is said to be "culturally programmed to act in a certain way?
The context given in the text is that culture provides us with an effective framework. So that we
know when and how to behave in various situations. Every culture is different so the frameworks
that apply are different. In this way we are programed by our culture. (Moodian, 2009, p. 11– 15).

Three ways of gaining executive commitment to diversity are to gather data and to assess the
organizations current commitment to diversity to show where and why there is a need for change.
The development of diversity council can also garner executive support because it offers a way for
executive members of an organization to have a dialog with other members of an organization about
diversity. Systematic changes are also necessary such as hiring from a diverse roster of candidates
when filling a position. (Moodian, 2009,

Challenge Products Corporation Case Analysis

  • 1. Challenge Products Corporation Case Analysis Anny Lyman was recruited to Challenge Products Corporation (CPC) from their competitor because she has expertise in marketing and creativity. She is such a hardworking and creative manager that she was showcased in a magazine and that is what makes her a very visible manager in her previous organization. Before she was hired, CPC's products were very dominant because of high quality, low costs, and durability of the design. But this has since changed because of the cheaper look–alike products introduced into the market. As a result of this, CPS's market share has significantly dropped and it gives the CEO a concern and that is where Ann Lyman's comes into the picture to try to turn things around. She has given a brilliant proposal to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She will have to explain in detail how her new plan appeals to everyone's values and supports the common goal. Ann Lyman will have to thoroughly explain the reason for the need for the company to expand its product lines, the reason why they have to offer more product options at different price levels. The more product lines CPC has with different price levels the more market share for them. She has to give them the reasons why CPC should branch out into "trend designs" that appealed to the contemporary lifestyles of young adults which are probably their biggest customer in the electronic housewares. In this century, for any company or organization to continue to thrive in the marketplace, it has to adhere to consumer demands and taste. Reciprocity according to Whetten & Cameron, 1993, pg. 243 involves straightforward bargaining in which each party gains something from an exchange. Ann Lyman can use the strategy of reciprocity by striking a bargain with all the departments that will be highly impacted by a proposal in the form of offering bonus from the potential profits that the new product offerings will generate. Reasoning and reciprocity are the best influencing strategies to get the other members on board with her process to implementing the changes to the sales department. I've now realized how important change is, and to not fear it. When I was just starting middle school I remember my best friend and I seeing a boy we knew walking. When we saw him she told me " tomorrow I'm going to say goodbye to him because once we are in middle school I will have better people to talk to, and never have to talk to him again." During middle school I remember not speaking my thoughts because of fear of how they would react, so I just didn't say much. Eventually they stopped talking to me or inviting me to do stuff with them. I guess I was no different to them than the boy walking down the street. This experience ... • 5. Organizational Change : An Important Part Of An Organization Introduction: Culture is an important part of an organization. In todays world many companies are expanding their business by opening new plants and franchises in different countries in order to maximize their profit margins and reduce their labor costs. As mentioned by (Lee & Lin, 2014) that operating in different locations help companies to gain technological and market information and they can respond to their customers quickly. Opening business in a new country means facing a new culture, which may requires the company to do major changes in their organizational culture so they can relate to the culture of host country. • 7. The Steroids: The Most Important Change For me the most important change is supply chaining. Due to supply chaining we have been able to create product in a quicker and cheaper way. With supply chaining you are able to make small adjustments to your framework at every step of the way. Whether it is the customer's requests and information flowing up stream or the supplier items flowing down stream to the customer, without the vast worldwide supply chain that has been created there are many products or resources that may not exist today or would end up being too expensive to afford, without it. As for the government, the concept of "The Steroids" is the most influential, in my opinion. This is because without a large digital infrastructure, the government would have to rely heavily ... • 12. Impact Of Technology On Society The Impact of Technology on Society "Given that technology and technological systems are important in every culture around the world, it is absolutely essential that they become a primary focus of study.¨ Rodney L. Custer, author of Examining the Dimensions of Technology, uses this quote to describe the importance of technology and the impact it has around the world. Technology has always been an important field of study because of the many ways we have found to revolutionize our way of life. Lieve Van Woensel and Geoff Archer, authors of "Ten technologies which could change our lives", give some examples of how technology has revolutionized our way of life in ways such as "the ability to discover previously unexplored places, coordinate our activities at home and in the workplace, and communicate with each other instantaneously." These are only a few ways in which we have used technology to improve our lives. Bill Gates, author of "The Road Ahead" and founder of Microsoft, says that "Technology changes will change how the world works –– how people connect with each other." These changes have had a big impact on the way the world operates today. Technology has advanced more in the last 100 years than since the dawn of civilization. How has technology been able to become so developed in such a short amount of time? To help answer that question, Justin Cook, owner of Glass City PC, says that "Key industrialists and innovators during the Industrial Revolution have laid the groundwork for the advancements in technology that we have today." The Industrial Revolution has made rapid advances in technology possible in such a short time period. How will technology impact our future? To answer that question, William J. Kubitz, author of "Computer Technology: A Forecast for the Future" says that "Technology will only continue to improve over time. The ever–increasing complexity and lower cost of integrated circuit and computer technology will radically change our lives in the next 20 years." Future technology will drastically change our lives in many innovative and unexpected ways. Although there are a staggering number of positive things to come from advancements in technology, there are also a few drawbacks. According ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 14. Factors That Play Important Roles in the Change of Testimony Running Head: Human Factors Question Human Factors Question Introduction Walter (2002) has mentioned that fallibility of witness is an important issue in the American justice system. Honesty of eyewitnesses during the trial is an important issue that has concerned most in the American justice system. In the presence of a testimony from an eye witness, jury can judge better as greater impact of an eye witness is seen on the jury members. Ziskin, Faust and Anderer (2011) have mentioned that the main responsibility of the jury members is the sorting out of credibility issues and judging the level of truth presented by the witnesses. Perjury is thought to be a crime as if a witness can lie in the witness stand; it can have negative effects on the judgments of the jury, on the dignity held by the trial, and legitimacy of the judicial systems in America. Pezdek (2007) have mentioned that there are many definitions for perjury but one of the most important statements in these cases is to make false statement on the witness stand with having an intention of lying. In any judicial system, lying is a crime, memory loss or not remembering a certain event is not considered a crime. Cohen and Conway (2008) have argued that the credibility and authenticity of the jury is decided by the jury in pure secrecy. The final judgments that are given by the jury are given without any disclosure of specific reasons of the judgments. Thereby from here it can be seen that the fallibility of the ... • 16. Change By John P Kotter Introduction The definition of change according to the Webster dictionary is "to become different or to make someone or something different." John P Kotter writes that change is always about "changing the behavior of people" (preface XII) Kotter explains that change is a concept that is used by organizations to restructure or improve their business behavior. Many companies find it difficult to initiate change due to the lack of motivating employees or leaders. In his book, Kotter proposes an eight stage process that could help organizations that are looking for change. Discussion The Eight important stages of change by John P. Kotter Stage one: Establishing a Sense of Urgency In this stage Kotter shares business stories of successful companies that increased urgency to spark a change. He explains that there are four behaviors which could prevent change. Behaviors like "complacency, immobilization, self–protection, you–can't–make–me–move deviance, and pessimistic attitude that leads to constant hesitation." (Kotter and Cohen, p17) These four negative elements have to be approached carefully because if they are not the employees wouldn't not have any sense of urgency to perform any changes. To have a successful introduction to change and for it to be received with urgency, it has to be presented in a way that the leaders of an organization will back it up, because they are "part of a larger activity aimed at helping to lower feelings undermining urgency." • 18. Personal Narrative: The Amazing Law Of Influence The Amazing law of influence states "One life touches another and potentially both lives are changed; one life touches another and potentially the entire world is changed" This was evident in the movie Radio when Coach Jones changed how the world viewed people with special needs by one small act. When Coach Jones was a coaching the JV football team at Hanna high school, he noticed a boy watching them practice day after day, and soon started watching the games. One Day a couple of Coach Jones's players had harassed the boy, locking him up, and throwing balls at the shack they put him in. This boy was soon to be known by the name of Radio. Coach was furious, and within the next couple of days Coach Jones went over and apologizes to Radio, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Then Radio turned it around and gave everyone else presents for Christmas. This is important because this showed how the whole community started to change as a whole, in a better way. Showing how the law of influence started to take effect on the town. This also shows that if one person sticks up for what is right then everyone will soon follow, and kindness will fill the hearts of many. Kindness is also important in my own life. For example, when I was in the W.E.B program at my middle school (Where Everyone Belongs) I had to welcome about 20 students to the school for each grade. The year I did W.E.B was the first year this took place so I had to welcome in 6th graders, and 7the graders. Together I had about 30–40 students coming in under me and depending on me. Many of the kids were scared to come to a new school. Most of the kids came from other schools so many of them did not know anyone else. I got the amazing chance to welcome them with open arms with lots of smiles and love, all it took was a simple act of kindness, and some candy of course and everyone was happy and had a place. We would meet once a week for lunch, and through that year some of the kids came to me about grades and how they could get them up, and another kid came to me about being bullied and how to make it stop, and all I did was let them talk and tried to help them. This is important because I got to help the kids under me, and I got to be the friend they needed when they were coming into a new place for the first time. This also shows that one small act of kindness can change how people feel, for better or worse. Not only can it change someone else's life, but it can change your ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 20. Essay on Comparison of the Power of One Movie and Book Differences and Similarities in a Tale of Courage For many years Hollywood has been making blockbuster movies based on bestselling novels, but often these movies differ greatly from the novel . The movie The Power of One based on a book of the same name follows this trend. The Power of One tells the story of Peekay, a boy living in South Africa who dreams of becoming the welterweight champion of the world, and who tries to correct the injustice that goes on around him. Although the movie does keep the main themes of the novel like racism and how one person can change the world. The film adds new plot twists and characters that make the story more exciting, but also changes important characters and storylines from the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Peekays mom is another character that appeared in both the novel and film, but not in the same context. In both versions Peekays mother suffers a Nervous breakdown, causing Peekay to be sent in boarding school. In the movie she dies after Peekay is sent to boarding school from an unknown cause. While in the book she recovers from her mental breakdown and becomes a Born again Christian. By eliminating the mother, the movie does not show the complicated relationship Peekay had with his mother in the book. An obvious difference between a novel and its movie is the way characters are portrayed. In the movie of The Power of One, the protagonist is portrayed very similar to the novel. In both the novel and film Peekay is portrayed as a courageous hero who faces adversity, and who tries to change the world around him. One thing the movie does not truly show like the book did, is Peekay's desire to become the welterweight champion of the world. "If I had to choose between becoming the welterweight champion of the world and taking a law degree at oxford, the boxing would win" [Courtenay 463].In the movie Peekays boxing takes a back seat to his desire to help the black people of South Africa . • 22. Climate Change : The Most Important Issue Of Climate Change Climate change is the most important policy issue of our time, and it is up to the current generations to prevent further extreme climate changes. Climate change is defined as significant changes in the climate, like temperature and wind patterns, over the past couple of decades (U.S. Environmental Protection Agency "Glossary of Climate Change Terms"). The earth's temperature has risen by an average of 1.4 degrees Fahrenheit and if it is not contained it could rise even further (U.S. Environmental Protection Agency "Science to Protect Public Health and the Environment, EPA Research Program Overview 2016–2019" pg. 2). The weather patterns across the earth have become more severe and citizens are having to get used to extreme weather like droughts and floods. Climate Change is the most important policy issue because it affects the resourcefulness and cleanness of air and water, which the U.S. and all nations depend upon. Climate Change is a clear and present threat to the health of U.S. citizens because it affects the air quality. Climate Change with the help of pollutants caused by citizens such as waste, biomass, and fossil fuels, are the main causes of air pollutants in the United States, which makes it harder to produce crops and breathe in cleaner air (Massetti et al. pg. VII). If the air quality is not improved, which it has been improving over the past couple of decades, there are greater chances of heart attacks, respiratory illnesses, and asthma (U.S. Environmental ... • 26. Informative Essay: Why Is Climate Change So Important? Why is climate change so important? Is it because we all believe in the end of the world, is based from a cooked–up theory suggesting our planet will explode as the temperature rises. Is the problem with the changing of the Earth, or is it with the people going against it? To the public, the effects of climate change are revealed to many as a formality which is rather forgotten, and intentionally ignored. But is this stance such a bad one to take. With the changes in the Earth's environment, comes warmer weather, longer summers, longer vacations equaling more money. Isn't this what people care about, the money. Why break something which is not broken, the trust if any, which should be given should be alongside the evolution of technology. A technology which in the past century adversely benefited the world, with a basis of knowledge which is just breaching the surface. Effects of technology in a changing world where "Child and maternal mortality rates have plunged. Access to education has soared. Deep poverty is in sharp retreat. Despite the 24/7 distilled drama online and on TV, violence on scales of war to homicide has been in a long decline..." (Revkin). The solution to this the current problem of climate change, should be through the trust of our very own minds, through our progressions of our knowledge, comes the progression of our technology, benefiting the problems of our world. Trust the process, trust your fellow man or woman. "After tens of thousands of years of scrabbling by, spreading around the planet, and developing the tools of increasing sophistication, humans are in surge mode and have only just started to become aware that something profound is going on." Throughout our lives we have been told by our friends and family that we need to minimize our stress and manage it before it gets too out of hand. This leads to us looking at stress as a terrible thing that will ruin our lives. Everyone is affected by stress and it is something that is a part of our daily lives. The key thing to remember is that stress is not always a bad thing. It has been proven that looking at stress as a good thing rather than a bad thing can actually make you stress less. There are two main types of stress. Eustress, which is the good stress, and distress which is the bad stress. Dealing with the eustress is what most people will think is relatively easy as you don't have to do anything about it and don't have to get rid of it., it's the distress that people tend to have issues controlling. Being stressed for a long period of time can lead to a number of different problems such as anxiety. It is important to recognize that you are stressed, figure out exactly what is stressing you out, and then act according to what your stressor is. In order to minimize or even get rid of your stress and anxiety, you will need to know the symptoms, common stressors, and when, where, and how to seek professional help. Stress and anxiety is something that can be very hard to recognize in ourselves. People tend to deny that they are stressed, or even just mistake the symptoms ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

You should include at least three reasons in your answer. Change happens in a business environment for a variety of reasons. Those reasons depend on both internal and external factors. For example as internal reasons for change would be the launch of a new product or service that a company is working on . As for external factors one of the external factors would be perhaps a new law that is given and affects directly or indirectly the business and that business needs to make some changes. While the business strives to better their image mistakes can be made in the process of change and a good sense of understanding is also necessary. Some people do not react well to changes and during these times they need updates to the changes and most of all understanding. A good business will know to understand that their employees need understanding in a time like this and not to put too much pressure which will only make things worse. b) Explain the benefits of working with others. Benefits in working with others when going through change gives a sense of unity and the feeling that you are not alone and that together you will be successful in adapting to all that is new. Also working in a team give people the chance to be supportive with each other and help one another. Often, it determines what type of opportunities present themselves and how often they occur. Your class determines the people you associate with, your level of education, and your overall success in the world. Some people will tell you that you should always try to rise to the top, using any means necessary. The people who argue this are often the ones who demand the peak performance out of absolutely everything, regardless of the cost. It is often apparent where they are coming from with this viewpoint, but it is not without it's flaws. Also, a great deal of people wind up cancelling their efforts when they realize how much they need to work to achieve results. To summarize, social class has a large effect on people's lives in the modern world, and if you so desire, you can change it. Every day, the enhanced greenhouse effect continues to advance, which significantly influences Earth's long–term climate. In addition, human activity is also contributing to the increase of global warming and is already leading to harmful consequences. Some people believe that global warming is not occurring and the heating of the globe, is just a part of the Earth's natural cycle. Several consequences such as, ice caps melting, show us that global warming is in fact occurring. Therefore, we should start making changes in order to reduce future damages to the Earth. The enhanced greenhouse gas effect is one of the many reasons why global warming is occurring. Heat that is being trapped by the Earth's surface is known as the natural greenhouse effect. However, throughout the last decades since the Industrial Revolution, the natural greenhouse effect has been disrupted due to greenhouse gas trapping too much heat in the Earth's atmosphere. The enhanced greenhouse gas effect is the extra heating of the Earth's atmosphere caused by increased levels of greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide and methane, in the atmosphere. According to Cheryl Jakabs, carbon dioxide levels are now 100 parts per million higher than the beginning of the 1800s. Analysis Of ' I Was A Puerto Rican, By Esmeralda Santiago Question 1 – Foreshadowing "I push my cart away, toward the apples and pears of my adulthood, their nearly seedless ripeness predictable and bittersweet." This quote, and entire prologue, are taken from the memoir When I was a Puerto Rican, by Esmeralda Santiago and they foreshadow that her whole life is changed, just like the fruit she eats and that are in her life. Santiago life is totally turned around in this memoir and the prologue shows that. The author "weaves" foreshadowing into the memoir by showing us how her life changed dramatically and once she came to the United States everything was different, just like fruit here in the United States and in Puerto Rico. The author uses the technique of foreshadowing to give something to look forward to in her story and build suspense and anticipation. Santiago used foreshadowing to show that her life changed and that it changed a lot. Her life is foreshadowed that it will change and that she lets her past go. Leaving her past in the past and moving on with her present and future. Santiago's life was horrible growing up. Her parents did not always get along, their home was not always safe, clean, and good for her and her family, they were always moving, etc. After they moved to New York, a couple years later, her life was changed. She was offered an acting role and then later on went to Harvard with a scholarship. As you can see, she left her past in the past and went on with her amazing new life. When I was a Puerto ... • 45. Weather Change : The Most Important Factors And Climate... Many places on Earth have regular changes in the weather throughout the year. We call these the seasons. The seasons are affected by the amount of sunlight an area gets throughout the year. Many things contribute to the amount of sunlight that reaches different areas on the Earth. These factors affect the changing seasons: The most important factor is the angle that the sunlight hits the Earth's surface throughout the year. Direct sunlight is warmer than sunlight hitting the Earth at an angle. The other factor is length of the day how long the sun shines on an area each day. Longer days get more sunshine. (Amsel 2005) During the summer the northern hemisphere gets more sunlight meaning the days are longer. In elementary school in science classes it was taught that the season changes due to how the earth is positioned. Lately climatologist found it hard to track the weather because of the weather's inconsistency. For example, early in the fall it still feels like it is summer. " Most of the observed warming over the last 50 years is likely to have been due to the increase in greenhouse gas concentrations" (Linderholm 2006.) There are varieties of reason that researcher's blame for the climate change such as: the earth's tilt, global warming, and human caused changes. The 3 stages are Stage A (step 1, 2, 3), Stage B (step 4, 5), Stage C (step 6). They are all broken down into steps as follows. The first step in the process is identifying the change that is to come with tracking sales. Here, one will be able to define the current state, classify the size and the features of the change, describe what to expect in the upcoming future, and recognize the thought of shifts, and the structural willingness to change. • 51. How Change Is Inevitable And It Is Important For Companies Organizational change is inevitable and it is important for companies to embrace and implement change without suffering severe consequences. Change can occur for several reasons, but first let's discuss two different categories where change comes from. Change has two drivers: external and internal. Things such as laws, demographics, competition, or the economy drives external change; while internal change is driven by internal factors such as new management systems, increase in morale or the implementation of new technology. People naturally fear change and most will resist it. In order for a company to transition smoothly, it will need to do extensive planning from beginning to end. There are several steps a company can take to make the adjustment easier, starting with managing the change appropriately. It is extremely important to manage change appropriately from the very beginning in order to eliminate any immediate negative side effects. The first step is to select a management team to lead the change. A plan of action needs to be in place and it must address issues that are likely to occur, such as employee resistance. The management team should be active, visible and approachable by all employees. Talk and discuss the changes that will be taking place, give reasons of why the changes are happening. Therefore, it is the job of the company to be able to quickly adapt when change hits. There are many aspects which can contribute to the need for change, both internal and external. Change management can be regarded as managers applying their 'existing knowledge base in a systematic manner to problems requiring technical solutions, with minimal inputs from other quarters ... in a static and isolated environment' (Paton and McCalaman, 2000, p.21). For instance, under the 'superordinate goals' element are the mission, vision, goals and objectives (Johnson et al., 2014). Therefore, it can identify internal triggers which may bring about the need for change, such as: New senior management or chief executive Poor performance of staff Loss of profit New missions, visions, goals and objectives High employee turnover Low morale of staff The use of new technology The relocation of factory, staff, resources, etc. Merger, Acquisition, Takeover or Divestment Shortages or surpluses of labour (Huczynski and Buchanan, 2013; Johnson et al., 2014; Paton and McCalman, 2000) In addition, the 7s' can be split into 'hard' and 'soft' factors. • 71. Eliee Character Quotes In Night In the book Night, Elie's character trait changes throughout the book. This is mainly caused by the things happening to him and other Jews. This changes changes him into a completely new person with new believes and views about the world. Over the course of the book, Elie changes from a person who believes in good and that God is fair to someone who is bitter, angry at his God, and only thinks about surviving. This is important to the book as a whole because it connects to his central character trait and how it changed throughout the book. The change is apparent when he was angry at his God for not preventing the barbick actions of the Germans, when he talks about how men were stronger than God, and when his father died he couldn't think of anything but how to survive. At the start of the book Elie was an innocent kid that only wanted to learn new things and dedicated himself to his God and family. Elie became friends with a foreign Jew that lived in his town name Moshe the Beadle. Elie started to ask questions that he didn't normally ask when one day Moshe asked him why did he pray, "Why did I pray? Why did I live? Why did I breathe?" (Page 4) This moment shows that ... I no longer thought of my father, or my mother." This shows that Elie is only thinking about getting his next meal and he didn't want or let the thought of his family into his mind, or even the thought to pray to his God to give him strength as well as thanking his God for the food he got because his constant need to eat to be able to survive was all he thought and dreamed about. The reader can infer that Elie no longer thought of his past at this point or about who he used to be, which supports the argument that Elie's condition at this moment and what had happened to him had changed his central character ... • 73. Comparison In 'The ElephantAnd' The Secret Lost In The Water? For every activity one does, time is very important for the activity. In stories, chronology is especially important for it helps the reader understand what is happening but also gains a message from it. Chronological order is part of the plot diagram in any story where the story begins which takes the reader to rising action. The author of Elephant, Slawomir Mrozek and the author of The Secret Lost in the Water, Roch Carrier showed how chronology is very important to the story. These authors used different themes to portray chronology. This can be demonstrated through the loss of faith, psychology of believing and through appearance vs reality. Therefore, variations of chronology have been shown. Moreover, chronology is very important to the story and this is shown through the loss of faith in characters. In the story, The Elephant, there are zoo keepers who know there are kids coming to their zoo who want to see an elephant. However they did not have one so they blew a balloon elephant instead. This tricked the kids until it popped and caused disappointment to arise in the children. "The school children who had witnesses the scene in the zoo soon started neglecting their studies and turned into hooligans" (Mrozek 106). This demonstrates how the past events made the kids into terrible people. They believe whatever they learned as a child was all untrue and they feel as if their whole life is a lie. They begin to lose faith in what they learned and give up on their lives. On the other hand, Roch Carrier demonstrated loss of faith through the protagonist. The protagonist learned something from his father on how to find fresh water. However the main character forgets his father's tactics and is unable to find fresh water underground. "Somewhere along the roads I'd taken since the village of my childhood I had forgotten my father's knowledge" (Carrier 96). This quote shows how this character is losing faith. He cannot believe how he forgot his dad's secret technique and now believes that he has learned nothing from his dad. He feels worthless. These two books show how both characters in both stories have lost faith and have struggled since a certain time in their lives. The loss of faith can also ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 75. Resistance To Change Analysis assess during the change process, and also change direction if necessary. Strategies The organization must implement specific strategies to identify and resolve resistance to change. O Connor (1993) stated "In an organization, resistance is opposition or witholding of support for specific plans or ideas. It can either be intentional or unintentional, covert or overt" (p. 30). Employees will likely consider how change affects them personally and that may naturally cause some resistance. One of the most important things an organization can do to minimize resistance is to address these personal concerns. It is also important to identify any potential loss or gain that comes from implementing, or not implementing, the change initiative. Leaders ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Leaders have to give stakeholders the opportunity to properly digest information, and react to change, especially if it affects them directly. Understanding that a disruption may occur also provides the leaders with an opportunity to address issues and assess the need for training. Properly allocating an honest timeframe for all stages of the change process gives the organization an opportunity to set realistic goals. This means allowing for the training of employees that may require it to be successful in projected goals. Treating employees fairly and setting them up to be successful is not only good for them, but also for the productivity and possibility of success of the organization as a whole. During the assessment phase leaders must have an honest reflection of the entire process, considering the areas of both success and failure. Leaders must be fair in their assessment of the outcomes and be able to take responsibility for making decisions and the effects of those decisions (Stainer, 2004). Properly responding to ethical issues include the following: recognizing the issue, using ethical judgment in assessment of the issue, behaving ethically, and the moral intent (Jones, 1991; Rest, 1986). The organization must be transparent in identifying the problem and actively work to correct the issue. What does it mean when one is said to be "culturally programmed to act in a certain way? The context given in the text is that culture provides us with an effective framework. So that we know when and how to behave in various situations. Every culture is different so the frameworks that apply are different. In this way we are programed by our culture. Why is executive–level support important and what are 3 key ways to gaining leadership commitment to multi–cultural diversity? Executive level support is important because grassroots movements rarely inspire change. Without executive commitment attention to diversity any programs will likely fall by the wayside. Three ways of gaining executive commitment to diversity are to gather data and to assess the organizations current commitment to diversity to show where and why there is a need for change. The development of diversity council can also garner executive support because it offers a way for executive members of an organization to have a dialog with other members of an organization about diversity. Systematic changes are also necessary such as hiring from a diverse roster of candidates when filling a position. (Moodian, 2009, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
