THE TITANIC
Informative Speech Outline
Specific purpose: The primary role for the speech was to keep
my audience informed concerning one of the most popular
historic tragedies, the Titanic.
I. Introduction
As a fact, from the tragedy to the movie, the Titanic sinking
still remains among the most famous historic tragedies.
II. Body
A. The Titanic itself
According to Morgan Robertson, an American writer of the
book “The Wreck of the Titan”, there was an “unsinkable” ship
by the title “The Titan”. This ship sailed from England to New
York and there were many famous and rich people that were on
board. During its journey across the North Atlantic Ocean, the
ship sunk after hitting an iceberg. Numerous lives got lost since
there lacked sufficient lifeboats. However, the strange thing
concerning this book is that The Wreck of the Titan was
published fourteen years prior to the Titanic sink. Therefore,
Titanic sink remains one of the biggest non-war associated
historic tragedies, and it remained vital to be knowledgeable
concerning the past. Nevertheless, from such a tragedy to the
movie, the Titanic sinking will remain to be one of the most
famous historic tragedies.
B. The tragedy
The Titanic met its tragedy head-on after hitting an iceberg four
days later after departing. According to Tibballs (1997), the
Titanic ship departed Queenstown, Ireland at 1:30 pm on 10th
April, 1912, and it was destined for New York. During its
sailing, the weather remained perfect since there were light
winds, a blue sky, and the ocean was calm. The journey turned
to a horrible tragedy when the ship hit an iceberg and started
sinking since the biggest part of the iceberg remained under
water. As the ship sunk, some passengers were rescued but most
of the were left with no place to go. The ship had only 20
lifeboats that were quickly filled with children and women.
Eventually, the ship was no longer on sight since it had
disappeared.
C. The Movie
A movie by James Cameron depicting the Titanic tragedy was
written, directed, and produced. According to Mash 1997,
Cameron decided to design a movie that was to bring the Titanic
event to life. Creating the movie was expensive such that it
amounted to $250 million in budget. However, the movie was
very successful. According to Kramer 1998, the Titanic movie
made almost $600 million in the United States, remaining the
most popular movie of all the time in the world.
Conclusion
From the tragedy to the movie, the Titanic sink will still be
remembered as one of the most famous historic disasters. In
conclusion, it is good to remember the written story fourteen
years before the Titanic sunk (The Wreck of the Titan). The
tragedy currently appears like it was a life case, or an eerie
prophecy. However, despite any case, the loss of lives on the
disaster was very tremendous, and it is an event that will always
be remembered.
