2. TYPE OF DOCUMENTARY
The documentary extreme dog stylist is a mix documentary as throughout the
programme you see a lot of narration, observation, interviews and archive
footage that is mixed in with one another.
THEMES
The themes in extreme dog styling are themes such as
dogs, beauty, grooming, competition, success, failure
and colour.

3. CAMERAWORK
The camerawork used in the documentary use a variety shots and a variety of camera
through out the documentary. When looking at the dogs in the programme they are
all used with a close up this makes viewers pay attention to the detail within the dogs.
The cameras are mainly focusing on the different shots that they can get the dogs in
this usually ranges from a close up to a long shot. This displays all the different
features and the detail within the dogs that make the documentary more interesting.

4. MISE EN SCENE
The Mise en scene on the documentary is mainly based on the dogs. The props
that can be seen in the clip are all relevant to themes that are portrayed in the
clips. This also can be seen as the different settings that relate to all the topics in
the documentary.

some sort of way due to the

5. Sound
The different sounds used in Extreme dog styling is different
effects and backing tracks that make the clip more appealing
towards the audience. By using a Voice of God narration it
makes a better sense of information on the topic and this
follows the codes and conventions of the documentaries as
it’s the same person throughout.

6. Editing
• The different editing techniques that have
been used in the clip has made the whole
documentary more appealing and more
attention grabbing, due to the different cross
cuts from different countries and not just
focusing on one dog it creates a more
interesting clip.

7. Archive
The archive that was used in this documentary is the previous
years competition and the different covers that has been over
the year. By the use of graphics you can tell that this footage is
archive footage due to the date. Another part of archive
footage is the old newspaper article that’s in the frame also
even though the magazine cover is the most recent its still
known as archive footage

8. Graphics
The graphics used in the documentary, extreme dog styling, shows different fonts
and different graphics that show what the programme is about.
Just by using the scissor graphic on
the title screen without looking at
the background image you know
what the clip is going to be about.
The graphics used here show that
there is going to be a new winner
and that the graphics show
something for the audience to think
about
