-Radio is a powerful mass
medium used in education
for disseminating
information, imparting
instructions and giving
entertainment.
-Radio media can e used over
a large area by means of
producing data that is
transmitted over radio waves
(AM/FM). This data is then
received by our radios and is
converted into sound.
-They are the ones who
utilize radio media such as
cassette tapes, CDs,
podcasts and AM/FM
radio broadcasting in
distributing local and
international facts and
entertainment.
Examples: Radio DJs,
broadcasters,
commentators, radio
actors, song artists
School broadcasting – ex.
DZUP
Social awareness
programming that discusses
significant issues of the
society and presents possible
solutions that enlighten and
educate people on a larger
scale
A medium for formal and
non-formal education- ex.
Interactive Radio Instruction
Medium that uses the
television set to present
information. It has a wide
audience reach and uses
both audio and visual
features
They are personalities on
TV as well as people
working behind the camera
who use television as a
media for disseminating
information which serve
both educational and
entertainment purposes.
Ex. News anchors,
reporters, hosts, actors,
script writers, video jocks
Presents a fun and creative way of
learning through educational TV
programs ex. Sineskwela,
MathTinik, Kchannel
The Children’s Television Act of
1990 requires broadcast television
stations in the United States to
carry a minimum of three hours of
educational/international
programming geared directly at
children.
Short films and documentaries for
in depth studies – ex. Discovery
Health Channel, Animal Planet
The medium is the internet
or the world wide web as a
means of information
exchange. It uses both
audio and visual
functionality as well as
digital or electronic data.
They are the ones
responsible for sharing
knowledge and
information in the world
wide web through digital
or electronic formats
found in blogs, websites
and online social media.
Examples: bloggers, web
administrators, online
media users, web writers
The internet is becoming a
major source of research
materials due to the vast
information stored in the
internet coupled with efficient
data search engines
Free online courses ex-
Coursera
Online educational programs
– Knowledge Channel
Outlet for group meetings
and discussions – FB groups,
Yahoo groups, UVLE, etc.
The medium that uses
instructional materials and
resources to impart
knowledge, skills and
attitude through
educational or technical
courses.
 Teachers/Content Experts
 They are the main source of
information in a classroom-like
environment. They facilitate the
learning of the students using
different tools and strategies to
incorporate proper knowledge,
skills and attitudes.
 Examples: professors, instructors,
speakers, coaches, trainers
 Students are the learners or
scholars who receive educational
tutelage from teachers and benefit
mostly from instructional media.
 Ex. Pre-school, grade school, high
school, college and graduate
students
My first impression about our subject was, it is more on capturing
pictures, using computer and other thing that is related on photography. And the
time came that we met Maam Okan Bacolod. The first activity that was given to us
is to write of what we expect in class, to write who are the members of our group,
and who is our celebrity look alike. It was a funny experience that moment
because we have so much discussion that time especially when we talks about our
celebrity look alike. And after that, Maam Bacolod introduces our lessons and she
explained to us and gave some background about our subject. So, it is all about
media where we use technologies and print materials to communicate others and
to give and receive information. And our first topic was all about media and
information literacy. We discuss the definition of media, literacy, media &
information literacy, the roles of media and information and the three types of
literacy which is the media, information and technology literacy. For two hours we
finally finish our discussion about this topics and we really learn something about
our discussion. And then, Maam Bacolod dismissed us and we proceed to our
next class. That was a nice day for me because I learned new things especially in
becoming a media literate person.
And we are now on the second day of our class and the first thing we do is to have an
activity where we will be meeting our group mates and to answer some question that
Maam Bacolod will be given to us. In our activity we were given a chance to choose our
question and those questions are already posted on the screen and each question has a
corresponding points. There are questions that are equivalent to 5 points, 3 points and 2
points. After that activity we saw our score and our group gain 24 points and we are happy
for that. And after that we continue our class discussion a continuation of what we tackle
last day. We also study the basic concept of media literacy. And after the discussion we are
given the task to draw a diagram to show the relationship of the media, information and
technology information. And we had also the activity where we need to plan to organize a
creative and interactive symposium focusing on being a media and information literate
individual. The target audience are the out of school youths in the community. Our plan
will be presented to the barangay captain and the legislative council. So we have this plan
in improving the information literacy condition in the barangay. That was a challenging
day for me because we finished 3 activities on that particular day and it is also a tiring day
for me but still i am happy because it helps me to discover new things related to our topic
especially the difference of media, information and technology information. So, this is my
experience on our class discussion today.
We tackled lesson 2 this day and it is all about Traditional to New “The
evolution of media”. Before we start our discussion we had a group activity, an
activity were we need to arrange the papers given to us according to the evolution of
the media. The evolution of media from the Egyptian papyrus scroll to the existence
of the internet. We also discuss the evolution of online advertising the new media
and traditional media. And we are given a task to perform a play let by group; a
question says “what will happen if the traditional media has not been replaced by
new media”. So, all of us participated in this activity and it was really fun because
we have different ideas that illustrate our lesson. And we also learn about some
example of the new media like feeds, blog and podcast and also we identify the
traditional media and new media. And also Maam Bacolod showed us some pictures
of the traditional and new media. We can see now that the internet and other social
media is one of the technologies that people nowadays are using. By using this it
help us to do our works and assignment much easier. But still some of us are using
the traditional media like the newspaper and radio. In our lesson today I learn many
things like in using technologies and also to give importance to our traditional media
because it also contributes something to help us get some information.
Our lesson this day was the legal, ethnical and societal
issues in media and information. We tackle about what is a
copy right and how to observe it and also the reusing other
people’s work. So, it says there that we need to ask
permission to the owner of that work before including some
of it in our work. There is also a Creative Common where the
owner of the work can give permission to anyone to use their
works in specific ways. And we also discussed about
plagiarism where people just do a copy paste strategy. For
our discussion this day I learned that in everything that we do
we need to become original and don’t plagiarized other
works. Be original be you.
We had an interesting lesson this day and it’s all about current and future
trends of media and information. We also discovered that nowadays we have
this new technologies that is very high-tech. some of these are the Massive
open online course, wearable technologies, 3D environment, and ubiquitous
learning. This thing are use to make works done easier without exerting too
much effort. In the early years people are just using old scroll, papers, and
then radio but now we had this laptop, tablets, and smart phones with the
internet access. But we need to remember in using this very high-tech
materials we need to have a limitation because too much using of this things
can cause addiction, disorder and others. This thing has a big contribution in
our life so, we need to be knowledgeable enough and wise when we use these
thing. This is my today’s experience.
First session of the new subject for the second term we tackled about media
and information literacy. Media and information act as channels of information
and knowledge, facilitate informed debates, provide us with much more than
what we learn beyond our experiences, and a means by which society learns
about itself and builds a sense of community. Media and information literacy
includes technology literacy. Media literacy means the ability of an individual to
access, analyze, evaluate, create, and act using all forms of communication.
Information literacy is an ability requiring individuals to recognize, locate,
evaluate, and use the needed information effectively. While technology literacy
is the ability of an individual to work independently and with others and to
effectively use technology tools. By being literate about these things we can be
able to solve problems such as defining the information needed, creating a plan
to gather information, investigating and exploring, synthesizing information,
applying personal insights, and evaluating oneself.

This afternoon’s lesson was an interesting topic which was all about the
prehistoric ages, industrial and Electronic ages, New Information ages, and Media
Technology Evolution. From carving on tooth and bones up to rock paintings and clay wall
drawings. After that is the tattooing or writing on skin. Then they discovered maps and the
different kinds of calendar such as anatomical calendar and Hebrew calendar. The first
media technology is newspapers but after a couple of years the fall of traditional media
publisher came because of the discovery of online media. Even though newspaper
publishers fall they pursue and became successful in website online advertising and still
continue striving until today. Our technology is evolving and becoming high-tech and will
continue to evolve and become more high-tech. From Egyptian papyrus scroll to
newspapers to Kodak camera to radio to Readers Digest magazine to Television to VHS to
CD Players and to Internet which we are using presently. Even though technology are
evolving, traditional media technology is still existing because there are people who are still
using it today just like our grandparents, parents, old ones, and even some of us. It is one
of the media that is cheaper and known to everyone. Technologies are evolving but we
should always remember that traditional media is very helpful because it can enhance our
reading skills and pronunciations, it can exercise our mind, and it is not harmful to our body
unlike our present technologies- the internet. It can damage our eyes and health because
of the radiation, we may be tempted to open other websites not intended for learning, we
can read and see prohibited posts, and we may be a victim of any issues, cases, or cyber
bullying.
10/17/16
This afternoon we discussed about Information Literacy. I
learned about the different components of information literacy. This
component includes Identify, Find, Evaluate, Apply, and Acknowledge.
The synonyms of the components are the Needs, Access, Evaluate,
Use, and Ethics. In identifying the information one should be able to
differentiate primary and secondary sources. Information literate
students determine the available sources and the needed information.
We should be able to find and access the needed information effectively
and efficiently. We need to evaluate information by analyzing its
structure and recognizing bias. We have to apply paraphrasing to avoid
plagiarism and use the information effectively to accomplish a specific
purpose. Lastly,, we should acknowledge distinctive skills, put sources
on the references, understand and follow laws and regulations properly.
We should remember that information literacy applies to everyone. Each
of us has different information literacy skills level and it is important for
long-term learning.
10/17/16
New day new topic and this afternoon we discussed
about the different types of media. Print, broadcast, and
internet are the types of media. Print media is the oldest type
of media. This types of media has a different mechanisms of
distribution and has different styles of distribution. This media
is helpful in telling and disseminating information to people
about new ideas and services. It reaches people quickly and
has cheaper cost in order to access.
10/17/16
This afternoon I learned many things about Legal,
Ethical and Societal issues. It teaches us how to do
copywriting legally. In order to copy a certain published
works especially PDF files, we should ask permission to the
author or pay it. We should always remember that two or
more consecutive words being copied is already a plagiarism
and you can be accused by the people. We also need to
remember some of the tips on how to solve ethical issues. It
includes practicing good grammar, be aware of current
events and trends, listen to other people’s ideas and
knowledge, never lie or use misguiding information, know
your company, and don’t be stupid. In order to avoid issues
about this topic we remember the things we need to do and
the things we must not do.

  • 27. My first impression about our subject was, it is more on capturing pictures, using computer and other thing that is related on photography. And the time came that we met Maam Okan Bacolod. The first activity that was given to us is to write of what we expect in class, to write who are the members of our group, and who is our celebrity look alike. It was a funny experience that moment because we have so much discussion that time especially when we talks about our celebrity look alike. And after that, Maam Bacolod introduces our lessons and she explained to us and gave some background about our subject. So, it is all about media where we use technologies and print materials to communicate others and to give and receive information. And our first topic was all about media and information literacy. We discuss the definition of media, literacy, media & information literacy, the roles of media and information and the three types of literacy which is the media, information and technology literacy. For two hours we finally finish our discussion about this topics and we really learn something about our discussion. And then, Maam Bacolod dismissed us and we proceed to our next class. That was a nice day for me because I learned new things especially in becoming a media literate person.
  • 28. And we are now on the second day of our class and the first thing we do is to have an activity where we will be meeting our group mates and to answer some question that Maam Bacolod will be given to us. In our activity we were given a chance to choose our question and those questions are already posted on the screen and each question has a corresponding points. There are questions that are equivalent to 5 points, 3 points and 2 points. After that activity we saw our score and our group gain 24 points and we are happy for that. And after that we continue our class discussion a continuation of what we tackle last day. We also study the basic concept of media literacy. And after the discussion we are given the task to draw a diagram to show the relationship of the media, information and technology information. And we had also the activity where we need to plan to organize a creative and interactive symposium focusing on being a media and information literate individual. The target audience are the out of school youths in the community. Our plan will be presented to the barangay captain and the legislative council. So we have this plan in improving the information literacy condition in the barangay. That was a challenging day for me because we finished 3 activities on that particular day and it is also a tiring day for me but still i am happy because it helps me to discover new things related to our topic especially the difference of media, information and technology information. So, this is my experience on our class discussion today.
  • 29. We tackled lesson 2 this day and it is all about Traditional to New “The evolution of media”. Before we start our discussion we had a group activity, an activity were we need to arrange the papers given to us according to the evolution of the media. The evolution of media from the Egyptian papyrus scroll to the existence of the internet. We also discuss the evolution of online advertising the new media and traditional media. And we are given a task to perform a play let by group; a question says “what will happen if the traditional media has not been replaced by new media”. So, all of us participated in this activity and it was really fun because we have different ideas that illustrate our lesson. And we also learn about some example of the new media like feeds, blog and podcast and also we identify the traditional media and new media. And also Maam Bacolod showed us some pictures of the traditional and new media. We can see now that the internet and other social media is one of the technologies that people nowadays are using. By using this it help us to do our works and assignment much easier. But still some of us are using the traditional media like the newspaper and radio. In our lesson today I learn many things like in using technologies and also to give importance to our traditional media because it also contributes something to help us get some information.
  • 30. Our lesson this day was the legal, ethnical and societal issues in media and information. We tackle about what is a copy right and how to observe it and also the reusing other people’s work. So, it says there that we need to ask permission to the owner of that work before including some of it in our work. There is also a Creative Common where the owner of the work can give permission to anyone to use their works in specific ways. And we also discussed about plagiarism where people just do a copy paste strategy. For our discussion this day I learned that in everything that we do we need to become original and don’t plagiarized other works. Be original be you.
  • 31. We had an interesting lesson this day and it’s all about current and future trends of media and information. We also discovered that nowadays we have this new technologies that is very high-tech. some of these are the Massive open online course, wearable technologies, 3D environment, and ubiquitous learning. This thing are use to make works done easier without exerting too much effort. In the early years people are just using old scroll, papers, and then radio but now we had this laptop, tablets, and smart phones with the internet access. But we need to remember in using this very high-tech materials we need to have a limitation because too much using of this things can cause addiction, disorder and others. This thing has a big contribution in our life so, we need to be knowledgeable enough and wise when we use these thing. This is my today’s experience.
  • 32. First session of the new subject for the second term we tackled about media and information literacy. Media and information act as channels of information and knowledge, facilitate informed debates, provide us with much more than what we learn beyond our experiences, and a means by which society learns about itself and builds a sense of community. Media and information literacy includes technology literacy. Media literacy means the ability of an individual to access, analyze, evaluate, create, and act using all forms of communication. Information literacy is an ability requiring individuals to recognize, locate, evaluate, and use the needed information effectively. While technology literacy is the ability of an individual to work independently and with others and to effectively use technology tools. By being literate about these things we can be able to solve problems such as defining the information needed, creating a plan to gather information, investigating and exploring, synthesizing information, applying personal insights, and evaluating oneself.
  • 33. 10/17/16 This afternoon’s lesson was an interesting topic which was all about the prehistoric ages, industrial and Electronic ages, New Information ages, and Media Technology Evolution. From carving on tooth and bones up to rock paintings and clay wall drawings. After that is the tattooing or writing on skin. Then they discovered maps and the different kinds of calendar such as anatomical calendar and Hebrew calendar. The first media technology is newspapers but after a couple of years the fall of traditional media publisher came because of the discovery of online media. Even though newspaper publishers fall they pursue and became successful in website online advertising and still continue striving until today. Our technology is evolving and becoming high-tech and will continue to evolve and become more high-tech. From Egyptian papyrus scroll to newspapers to Kodak camera to radio to Readers Digest magazine to Television to VHS to CD Players and to Internet which we are using presently. Even though technology are evolving, traditional media technology is still existing because there are people who are still using it today just like our grandparents, parents, old ones, and even some of us. It is one of the media that is cheaper and known to everyone. Technologies are evolving but we should always remember that traditional media is very helpful because it can enhance our reading skills and pronunciations, it can exercise our mind, and it is not harmful to our body unlike our present technologies- the internet. It can damage our eyes and health because of the radiation, we may be tempted to open other websites not intended for learning, we can read and see prohibited posts, and we may be a victim of any issues, cases, or cyber bullying.
  • 34. 10/17/16 This afternoon we discussed about Information Literacy. I learned about the different components of information literacy. This component includes Identify, Find, Evaluate, Apply, and Acknowledge. The synonyms of the components are the Needs, Access, Evaluate, Use, and Ethics. In identifying the information one should be able to differentiate primary and secondary sources. Information literate students determine the available sources and the needed information. We should be able to find and access the needed information effectively and efficiently. We need to evaluate information by analyzing its structure and recognizing bias. We have to apply paraphrasing to avoid plagiarism and use the information effectively to accomplish a specific purpose. Lastly,, we should acknowledge distinctive skills, put sources on the references, understand and follow laws and regulations properly. We should remember that information literacy applies to everyone. Each of us has different information literacy skills level and it is important for long-term learning.
  • 35. 10/17/16 New day new topic and this afternoon we discussed about the different types of media. Print, broadcast, and internet are the types of media. Print media is the oldest type of media. This types of media has a different mechanisms of distribution and has different styles of distribution. This media is helpful in telling and disseminating information to people about new ideas and services. It reaches people quickly and has cheaper cost in order to access.
  • 36. 10/17/16 This afternoon I learned many things about Legal, Ethical and Societal issues. It teaches us how to do copywriting legally. In order to copy a certain published works especially PDF files, we should ask permission to the author or pay it. We should always remember that two or more consecutive words being copied is already a plagiarism and you can be accused by the people. We also need to remember some of the tips on how to solve ethical issues. It includes practicing good grammar, be aware of current events and trends, listen to other people’s ideas and knowledge, never lie or use misguiding information, know your company, and don’t be stupid. In order to avoid issues about this topic we remember the things we need to do and the things we must not do.
