1. Drama Reflection<br />The ‘Theory’ of Characterization<br />The ‘theory’ of characterization has helped me create my performance in many ways. When I did the blocking, it helped me figure out where I have to go and what lines I have to say. This is easier than just making it up on stage or creating it before and then remembering exactly where everything is. The costume design also helped me with this because I now know what I have to wear and I won’t have troubles on that day to decide what to wear. Plus I wrote a description to why I want to wear that as my performance costume, so that will help Mrs. Rankin understand why I wanted to wear that as my actual costume. The stage design also helped me a lot. It helped me imagine things (i.e. trees, the pathway, the rood, etc.) like where they are and what I will use them for. My script of course helps me remember my lines and what I have to do cause it has all the movements, emphasis and pauses written on it. I did stick figure drawings in my book that show the ‘before’ and ‘after’ for my script and how it changed with Mrs. Rankin’s advice. This helps me too because this shows the differences I have made in my monologue and I went from a poor performance (probably) to a good performance (probably). When we worked with a partner and we had to look at each other’s performances and tell the strengths and weaknesses, I think that helped me too. That helped me because that made my monologue better. Charles (my partner) told me my strengths and weaknesses, which really did help me. I now have changed a little to my script. Another ‘theory’ of characterization that helped me was performing in front of Mrs. Rankin. This helped me the MOST because this was at the beginning, when we first started to practice are monologue. She made us perform in front of here, and she gave us advice. When I look back at my first script, I think about how many things I did, which weren’t making the act that real at all. The character information page we did at the very beginning of the unit really helped me create my character even more. It helped me with how my character behaves, and what she likes and dislikes. The ‘given circumstances’ helped me know about the setting, and all the other things I needed. Adding the emphasis, movements and pauses into my script was a really good idea too because it helped me know what I had to do when. <br />My script is now (I think) the best I could make it with all the advice I’ve got so far and I am pretty happy with it. ‘Theory’ of Characterization really helps you improve your performance and it really does help you add information. I did blocking, costume designs, stage designs, etc. and all really helped me. <br />
