1) The document discusses the process of creating a character performance based on Rolanda Hooch from Harry Potter.
2) Key aspects of developing the character included thinking like the character, keeping movements and speech simple, and having a clear objective for the lesson on flying broomsticks.
3) Referring to notes on modulation, projection, pace, and emphasis helped focus the performance, though a British accent could not be replicated.
1. Creating the Performance!<br />To create this character I first had to get some inspiration. So to get the inspiration I had to think that my story and the character should be related. And then I remembered that a good story needs a beginning, middle and an end. To make a great character it needs a background. Also in the beginning of the unit we learnt that you have to think like the character, do what the characters does normally and forget that you are you. Every performance has to have a stake. So in my performance I especially made a stake that is very open. Also when I am creating my performance I had to keep in mind “Keep it Simple.” So I did not keep the speech or anything too hard. I tried to keep the movements easy to memorize and my speech is also very obvious. My objective is pretty clear it is just that Rolanda Hooch tires to teach her students how to fly a broomstick with simplicity, but the students just fail to understand and get what she mean, so their broomstick is simply uncontrollable because there are too worried and not cautious.<br />So while I was creating I looked back to my notes and carefully planned my script and etc. From the given notes/advice I noticed that if I really focus on what the key terms are: Modulation, Projection, Phrase, Pace, Pitch, Inflection and Emphasis they will help on doing the performance better. And Modulation is very important because it symbolizes that you are the character you play, so that’s why I am more focus on that, but since I cannot do British accent I would not be able to do that part of modulation. <br />The theory of characteristics told me what to do and how to do it. It showed me a way to make the script and the layout of my performance. Also the theory of the characteristics has helped me take down my nervousness, because when I am going to be on the stage I will pretend that there is no audience only Rolanda Hooch and her students. I will imagine the entire scene I have seen in Harry Potter about her. Just those ideas made me do my entire process of creating the performance. <br />
