miles from New York City. Washington D.C. is precisely sixty eight square miles and is divided into
four different quadrants: Northwest, Southwest, Northeast, and Southeast. The capitol monumentis
the landmark where the quadrants meet. Washington D.C. was founded in 1791 and named after
President George Washington. It lies in the district of Columbia, Columbia coming from

Washington, DC. Here I come!
It was summer of 2013. I was 14 years old, and my mom just told me she had a business trip in
Washington, DC for two weeks. I politely stated "I will be going with you!" After some resistance
from my mom, she agreed.
My friend Sarah and I travelled to Baltimore two days after mom traveled to Washington. Mom told
me she would meet us in Baltimore, but I declared "I am quite capable of going from Baltimore to
the hotel in Washington, DC on my own". To that end, I quickly learned the train and subway
system. One hour later, I arrived at the Wardman Park Marriott by the National Zoo. Soon thereafter,
I went to see Mei Xiang, the pregnant giant panda, and Tian Tian, the father. That evening, we
visited the Pentagon Memorial, which honors the 184 people who died on the American Airlines
Flight 77 on September 11, 2001. Next, on that clear and beautiful night, we walked up the ... Show

On my way into the hotel, I saw a dwarf. When I went to work out, I saw a few more dwarfs. I
realized, the Little People of America were holding their national convention at the hotel. Within a
day, I learned that over 1,000 little people were coming to the convention. I logged on to their
website to learn about the 200 medical conditions related to dwarfism. Over the next week, I had the
opportunity to talk to many short–statured people and learn their stories and struggles. It was a week
that I will never forget.
The visit to Washington, DC marked a transformation in my life: my first flight without my parents,
independence on the public transportation system, and a two–week adventure that allowed me the
privilege of visiting our nation's

After working two jobs the whole summer before my sophomore year to earn money and prove to
my parents I was responsible, I had the opportunity to go on what I though would be just a fun trip
with my newspaper friends to our nation's capital, Washington DC. Little did I know, this trip would
be the most eye opening experience thus far in my life. When we weren't at the journalism
convention, we visited many museums, war memorials, the Washington and Lincoln monuments,
and Arlington National Cemetery. Prior to this trip, I had never taken an american history class so I
was very ignorant about the past of our great country. I had not yet learned much about the wars
fought, the sacrifices made, and the rights defended by the people in our nation.

Why I Want To Washington Dc Essay
When most people are asked if they could go anywhere in the world, they try and think of an
extraordinary place. Maybe the person wants to learn about a specific location or they just want to
visit out of leisure. The first thing that comes to my mind is a trip to Washington DC. The thought of
touring all the landmarks and museums is exciting to me, but the icing on the cake, is the White
House for me. I have always wanted to see where the president of the United States resides and
makes all his important decisions. As a future teacher, my desire is to soak in the knowledge of such
a fascinating place so I can share with our future generation. Making a trip to Washington D.C. is a
must on my bucket list. My love for the U.S government is the fact that I would take a trip to the
capital of the United States. I would be a sponge soaking up all the history and in return pass on the
knowledge gathered in the form of classroom lessons with pictures and souvenirs. I can envision my
students sitting on the edge of their seats wanting to learn more. When that ticket is present and I'm

things to teach. Now I already know the main facts that I learned back in elementary school. For
example, the white house is enormous and has 132 rooms. Also you may have learned that George
Washington never lived in the White House. Although I learned some interesting facts I want to
expand my knowledge and go deeper into the history. Kids love to learn new exciting things
especially when they hear it first hand and then they get to see proof of what was done on the
teacher's trip. Now this ticket that I was given really isn't only for me it's more for these kids. They
should be excited and wanting to hear more and more about this opportunity that was presented for

Development of Washington D.C.
Washington D.C. is considered by many people to be the most important city in not just the United
States, but in the whole world. Washington D.C., to many, is like the capitol of the free world.
Decisions that have made the world how it is today have happened in is very city which was named
after the first president of the United States. As important as the city itself is, its development is just
as important. That is why, in the following, we will explore how Washington D.C. came to be the
great city it is today.
George Washington himself chose the location of Washington D.C.; north of where the Potomac and
Anacostia rivers meet. The city was officially founded on July 16, 1790. Pierre Charles L'Enfant, a

is the National Mall. The National Mall consists of the Capitol Building, the Washington
Monument, and the Lincoln Memorial. First, we will talk about the Washington Monument. The
Washington Monument is a stone obelisk over 500 feet tall and is the centerpiece of the National
Mall. The monument is also made out of 40,000 marble and granite blocks and is the tallest
freestanding structure in the world. You might ask yourself; What is holding this structure together?
The answer is the monuments weight. After six years of construction on the monument, the project
ran out of money because of the young nation going to civil war. The monument was only 150 feet
in the air at this point. Twenty–four years later, 1878, construction once again began on the
Washington Monument. Thomas Lincoln Casey was the head engineer on the construction, but was
faced with a problem right away because the original blocks were not available anymore. That is
why the bottom portion of the structure is a different shade than the top portion. Casey had another
problem; Congress could not reach a decision on how the Monument should be

It was a very snowy day in the historic sight of Washington D.C. With all the buildings and
monuments. So many people walking about. It was so much fun being with my friends when
suddenly I see a small figure huddled by a trash bin. I said bye to my friends and walked over to this
figure. When just then I notice it is a German Shepherd puppy! When I approached it it jumped right
into my arms!
I pulled him off but he didn't want to. I started walking toward home with the puppy hopefully
thinking if mom will let me keep him. I stop at the store to buy wood to secretly build a dog house.
When I got home I begged mother to keep she said she would think about it. I hid the dog on the

Ever since I entered high school I have been interested in working for a federal law enforcement
agency. I have been to Washington DC for a Nation Youth Leadership Forum on National Security,
and have had the chance to meet many people from different agencies. Being able to talk to these
people about their jobs only increased my interest in this field of work. When thinking about what I
want to do in the future I would like to work as a special agent. Almost every federal agency has
careers that would allow me to do such work. The FBI, DEA and ATF are just a few of the agencies
that employ my subject. For this assignment I went and interviewed an agent for the Bureau of

The ATF also has three sets of values; the first is to value their people and the people that they serve,
secondly they value partnerships that promote safety in the community and finally they value
integrity, diversity, commitment and excellence. (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and
Explosives, n.d.) In order for the ATF to measure their performance they developed a performance
index to measure the ten core functions that the ATF has. Those core functions include: Illegal
firearms trafficking; firearms criminal possession and use; firearms industry operations; criminal
groups and gangs; explosives, bombs and bombings; explosives industry operations; fire and arson;
alcohol and tobacco; modernizations and finally work force. The way the index works is by giving
weight to each core functions and doing an objective calculation. (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco,
Firearms and Explosives, 2010) Each year the ATF has to submit a Congressional Budget for a
fiscal year. For example when looking at the submission for the fiscal year 2014 they have included
a summary of program changes, decision unit justification and performance. In 2014 the ATF
requested a total of $1,229,518,000. This budget request includes 5,192 positions a net adjustment–

Oppose Susan 's Proposal For Relocation With The...
1. I feel the President and Board members should reject Susan's proposal to relocate to Florida. A
feasibility study should be conducted to determine the viability of WPP's relocation before
proceeding with the development to Philadelphia, Charlotte or Washington, DC. According to
Susan, The Bank of America would sponsor a questionable Warrior–to–Work program, agreeing to
hire 50 veterans per year as full–time employees, regardless of qualifications. The board is faced
with a conflict of interest, which might benefit Susan and her husband. Conflicts of interest among a
board of directors can take several forms and this situation leaves no room for negotiation. It is a
best practice to avoid or minimize conflicts of interest. Non–profit board members should be
discharged of their duties in accordance with their inability act in the best interests of the
organization. The presentation by Susan outlined her questionable ethics and commitment to the
pursuing the best interests of WWP. I do not think there is room for negotiation because Susan
refused to acknowledge John's discovery of lower Jacksonville and equally attractive properties.
2. Poor performance or questionable ethics can get anyone fired from their job and a board chair is
no different. In Susan's context she took advantage of her position and proposed an immoral action.
The chair of a board of directors is often a well–regarded member and who is expected to be honest

Narrative Essay On National History Day Washington Dc
The hardest thing I've ever done was National History Day last year. This was difficult because I
procrastinated so much and was never assigned any projects like it before. I was able to get through
it however, and then I had to work with a group and we chose group performance and it got easier
from there. Here is the story of how I went to Washington DC because of NHD.
So when we were first assigned with NHD nobody wanted to do it in our class. After the teacher had
explained what we're doing and how we're going to do it, everyone was boredom. I didn't want to do
it so much that when we were supposed to be working I didn't work because all I could think was
this is way too boring. Even when we were assigned homework, I wouldn't do that.
As each deadline passed for sources and rough drafts, I didn't have anything to turn in. Also as each
deadline passed I got more and more nervous knowing that I'd get a horrible grade in the class if I
didn't do it. Then, I'd get grounded a lot could've happened from that. Then one morning at church I

the location of the school. Howard University is located in the District of Columbia, our nation's

in the school's significance. Washington DC is located on the east coast of the United States,

The elevation is 0 ft. above sea level at its lowest point and 410 ft. above sea level at its highest

The District of Columbia is essentially located on the Potomac River. The Potomac River is a river
that's about 405 miles long and it flows into the Chesapeake Bay. Also the Anacostia River and the

California And Washington Dc : The Highest Gun Murder Rate
California in 2011 had the highest gun murder rate with 1,220 homicides, which accounted for 68
percent or 3.25 gun murders per every 100,000 people. Washington DC had the highest per 100,000
people gun murders with 12 per 100,000 and the highest gun used robberies with 242.56 out of
every 100,000 people (Howerton, 2013). Seeing these statistics would probably get you thinking
California and Washington DC must be pretty lax on their control, wrong, California was actually
even the honors as the strongest state on control, while Washington DC dating back to 1976 required
all gun owners to register their gun, banned new purchases of handguns, and requires all gun owners
to store their guns dissembled (Howerton, 2013). Take a look at Texas who has one of the lesser gun
control laws, they saw only 699 gun related homicides or 2.91 homicides per 100,000 people
(Howerton, 2013). While state with the least amount of control, Utah had just 26 gun homicides.
These statistics are not just limited to the United States, other nations known for having strict gun
control laws, have seen increases in murder rates. The nine nations with the highest gun control
have 3 times the murders than the nine nations with no or relatively low gun control (Howerton,
2013).

takes place in the North West part of DC, also known as the most diverse part of DC. It's where all
cultures and religions collide, also where most of the Hispanic and Latino people reside at. The
festival is a full day event where the entire town of Mt Pleasant is closed and just reserved for the
festival. The entire Washington, DC comes out to this festival to enjoy of different Latin American
cultures. There are many events that take place such as the Día de los Muertos dance, local Latino
artists perform, raffles and mini soccer fields. There's a large Latino presence at this festival each
year, but there's people from all sorts of race ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There were tons of food stands from about 12 different countries, ranging from countries in South
and Central America. The main food stands that stood out the most were definitely El, Salvador,
Mexico, and Brazilian food for their unique taste. I had the opportunity to try all types of delicious
food that I've never seen in my life as well as watch the food be prepared. I did talk to the people
that were cooking the different foods and learned a few traditional recipes that I could use when I
learn how to cook. The connection that all these people had to the food was astounding because you
could see how traditional everything was. Everyone was focused and dedicated to providing the best
food they can, so that they can fully represent the countries food.
The overall experience I had was a great learning one, especially being a Latino from the area was a
bonus. This experience relates to this class because it focused on Hispanic and Latino presence in
the United States, more into the Washington, DC area. I also examined how the Latino and Hispanic
people in the United States is increasing daily, with that being said hopefully they'll continue to
grow in festivals. Festivals should be held in all parts of the United States where the Latino and
Hispanic population are large, to not only unite the people but attract

Standing 6ft 6 inches tall, I'm a hard person to miss. Playing basketball in college afforded the
publicity that some students would dream of –– and others would dread. All throughout college I
carried the image of the basketball player. I wanted to be known for academics, for my character
and who I was as a person. Although basketball opened the doors for me to attend college which
allowed me to matriculate as a Political Science major, I was ready to move on. After graduation, I
committed myself to learning new things and more importantly to try things that intimidated and
frightened me. While doing so, I searched for and found a way to make a change in the lives of
those who needed help the most. I became a career advisor for one of Washington D.C's largest

As a result The Ritz–Carlton has one of the highest rates of employee retention in the industry, with
only an average 20% turnover rate. Their philosophy is that people deserve the right to work for a
purpose. This purpose keeps the employees engaged in their work and makes achieving success a
priority. Employee satisfaction is a priority and focus which improves employee morale (a happy
employee is a productive employee). According to the service profit chain relationship, satisfied
employees lead to employee loyalty which eventually leads to loyal customers and profitability.
Both customers are better served by retaining the current training process. It keeps costs low,
employee morale high, and has a proven track record of success for the employee, customer, and
hotel. The Seven Day Countdown should not be considered as a lone entity when evaluating the
readiness and effectiveness of the hotel staff. This is just part of an overall strategy that includes
thousands of hours of training, human resources, culture, and quality. The Ritz–Carlton is known as
a service industry leader and innovator. This was accomplished by having a standardized and
consistent methodology of developing their greatest resource – its people.

Good Things To Do In Washington DC
Washington DC is a wonderful place to go. It is a big city to explore around and get to know about.
There are a bunch of things to do in Washington to keep people occupied. There is a national mall,
the white house, United States capitol, Lincoln memorial and public schools for the kids to get an
education. It will be good to live here because it keeps people busy and it is a big city. The weather
in Washington Dc is okay and it all depends on what season it is. "Washington can experience
dreadful heat and humidity in the summer (which can begin as early as May and can linger into
October), gets hit with the occasional blizzard in winter (paralyzing a city that's not really equipped

As many of you may know today is a day for rebellion, against the slums, the ghettos, the bloody
heels of crying children and bad jobs, today we arise as a nation for freedom and equality to stand
against segregation. Today we rebel against the aggressors, to make a stand, so that every man, of
any race may stand, and coexist as equals. Almost one hundred years ago all of the African
Americans made free by the emancipation proclamation. But yet today one hundred, One Hundred,
years later we still have to use the colored bathroom, the colored bars, the colored water fountains,
and sit on the back of the bus.
How are we as the colored, being treated differently from the whites? How are we not equals, what
makes us different our color? Why is Washington D.C. willing to send our grown children to fight
for rights and peace in Europe but will not give us rights in the country that sent us to risk our life?
Children who can astonish the country, and the world, who would be great one day but because of

Superhero Personal Statement
Since the 2nd grade I have known what I wanted to do with my life: Be a superhero. Yet, in perusing
this goal I ran into an insurmountable obstacle, fear. I am afraid of heights, so jumping across
buildings in a single leap was not an option. I am not a fighter, so following in batman's footsteps
and fighting crime was not feasible. I must admit as a child realizing that would never have
superpowers was discouraging until I discovered Captain Planet. Captain Planet is the only
environmental superhero, and while he did have powers his real strength came from a team of
dedicated regular people, who consistently fought against pollution, environmental injustice,
deforestation and of course climate change. I remember watching Captain Planet on cartoon

Ecological and Environmental Issues at Washington DC
Washington, D.C. Ecological Issues Introduction: Ecologies and environments in the nation's
capitol, Washington, D.C. Washington, D.C. is known for the White House, for Capitol Hill, all the
monuments to great Americans and to historic moments. But there is a great deal more in the
nation's capitol than politics and monuments. According to the Website HYPERLINK
"http://www.washingtoncity.in" www.washingtoncity.in, the city's land covers more than "...sixty–
one square miles" and the rivers and lakes in the city cover over "six square miles." Washington
D.C. is bounded on the west by the State of Virginia and the State of Maryland surrounds the city on
the northwest, northeast and southeast. Three main rivers flow through Washington D.C., the
Potomac River, the Anacostia River, and Rock Creek. Actually the major river running through the
city is the Potomac, and the Rock Creek and Anacostia River are tributaries of the Potomac
(meaning, they contribute water to the Potomac). Seventy percent of the land in Washington, D.C.
"...is controlled by the National Park Service" and there are 250,000 acres of parkland in the
metropolitan area of Washington D.C. ( HYPERLINK "http://www.Washington.org"

Washington Dc Vs Riyadh Research Paper
Have you ever thought about the similarities and differences between to different cities from two
different countries? Some countries are similar in many traditions. Also, you can find major
tradition differences between two different countries. A Capital is usually the biggest city in a
country. I have been to Washington D.C and Al Riyadh, they both are cities from two different
countries which are the United States and Saudi Arabia. we can compare and contrast both cities in
terms of food, weather, and festivals.
To begin with the similarity, DC and Al Riyadh are both big capital cities because as I mentioned
above usually a capital is the big city in the country. You can find in the both cities the government
and high authority branches ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Black Friday is a day that comes after thanksgiving in U.S and this day you can find huge discounts
that the stores provide for the costumers, and the New Year's eve is the first day of the year all the
countries have a vacation on this day and most of the people celebrate with their friends family and
enjoy watching fireworks. In Riyadh there are only two special festivals, Eid Al Fitter which comes
after Ramadan all Muslims celebrate this special holiday because it is in their religion, the wear new
clothes and go to the mosque to pray in the morning and after that they visit their friends and
families and go back home to wait for an guests to come. Eid Al Adha, is the second special holiday
and it comes in the 10th day of Eid Al Haj and we sacrifice a sheep and volunteer to poor people
meat.
To sum up, each capital has similar and different traditions. There is a huge difference between these
two capitals D.C and Al Riyadh more than the similarities. However, capital cities have a prominent
place in the countries. I have been to both capitals and I think D.C has most spectacular places, and
incredible nature. Finally, there is many places to visit and have many activities to

Why I Want To Go To Washington Dc
Most people when they are asked if they could go anywhere they try and think of an extraordinary
place. Maybe the person wants to go and make a change in the world or they just want to go out of
enjoyment for themselves. When that question crosses my mind I would want to go to Washington
DC. When you want to go into education it is good to visit places that you can teach and tell stories
about the place you visited and Washington DC has a fantastic educational background.
Washington DC has a good educational background. It is good to have that knowledge it would be
easy to do lessons on and kids would be very interested if you had the souvenirs or pictures from
your visit. When that ticket is present and I'm on my way to my destination it will be a great feeling.
I would not just be going out of enjoyment because that will be part of it but, because I have never
been there and I would love to go there. But I'm going to try and help my future, career and help me
be successful later when the time comes around. Of course there is so much to do and not a lot of
time to see everything and learn everything that is needed. As always there will be enough time to

Trip To Washington D.C
What if no one in the world ever learned about the past? How important is understanding history in

consistently got high grades on my assignments, but because I also had a great interest in going to

Before seeing the national museum of African American history and culture my group was able to
see many of the other important sites while in Washington D.C. One of these sites was the World
War II memorial that recognizes those who served, honors those who fought, and fell to restore
freedom around the globe. This change the course of history. One of the most important things a
person can do is to understand the importance of history by understanding what happened in the past
and how those events still affect their daily lives. Later, the national museum of African American
history and culture was also a very amazing and enriching experience. To learn the history of the
United States of America was very important to me due to it being the history of our nation and is
still very relevant today as it still influences the ideas, politics, and conflicts that rise today. The trip
to Washington D.C taught me the importance of learning about the past on account of it always
affecting our lives. I myself have needed to learn from my past in order to improve for the future. At

It lies North of Virginia and South of Maryland just two hundred thirty three miles from New York City. Washington D.C. is precisely sixty eight square miles and is divided into four different quadrants: Northwest, Southwest, Northeast, and Southeast. The capitol monumentis the landmark where the quadrants meet. Washington D.C. was founded in 1791 and named after President George Washington. • 2. Narrative Essay On Washington Dc Washington, DC. Here I come! It was summer of 2013. I was 14 years old, and my mom just told me she had a business trip in Washington, DC for two weeks. I politely stated "I will be going with you!" After some resistance from my mom, she agreed. My friend Sarah and I travelled to Baltimore two days after mom traveled to Washington. Mom told me she would meet us in Baltimore, but I declared "I am quite capable of going from Baltimore to the hotel in Washington, DC on my own". To that end, I quickly learned the train and subway system. One hour later, I arrived at the Wardman Park Marriott by the National Zoo. Soon thereafter, I went to see Mei Xiang, the pregnant giant panda, and Tian Tian, the father. That evening, we visited the Pentagon Memorial, which honors the 184 people who died on the American Airlines Flight 77 on September 11, 2001. Next, on that clear and beautiful night, we walked up the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On my way into the hotel, I saw a dwarf. When I went to work out, I saw a few more dwarfs. I realized, the Little People of America were holding their national convention at the hotel. Within a day, I learned that over 1,000 little people were coming to the convention. I logged on to their website to learn about the 200 medical conditions related to dwarfism. Over the next week, I had the opportunity to talk to many short–statured people and learn their stories and struggles. It was a week that I will never forget. The visit to Washington, DC marked a transformation in my life: my first flight without my parents, independence on the public transportation system, and a two–week adventure that allowed me the privilege of visiting our nation's ... • 3. Washington Dc After working two jobs the whole summer before my sophomore year to earn money and prove to my parents I was responsible, I had the opportunity to go on what I though would be just a fun trip with my newspaper friends to our nation's capital, Washington DC. Little did I know, this trip would be the most eye opening experience thus far in my life. When we weren't at the journalism convention, we visited many museums, war memorials, the Washington and Lincoln monuments, and Arlington National Cemetery. Prior to this trip, I had never taken an american history class so I was very ignorant about the past of our great country. I had not yet learned much about the wars fought, the sacrifices made, and the rights defended by the people in our nation. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Why I Want To Washington Dc Essay When most people are asked if they could go anywhere in the world, they try and think of an extraordinary place. Maybe the person wants to learn about a specific location or they just want to visit out of leisure. The first thing that comes to my mind is a trip to Washington DC. The thought of touring all the landmarks and museums is exciting to me, but the icing on the cake, is the White House for me. I have always wanted to see where the president of the United States resides and makes all his important decisions. As a future teacher, my desire is to soak in the knowledge of such a fascinating place so I can share with our future generation. Making a trip to Washington D.C. is a must on my bucket list. My love for the U.S government is the fact that I would take a trip to the capital of the United States. I would be a sponge soaking up all the history and in return pass on the knowledge gathered in the form of classroom lessons with pictures and souvenirs. I can envision my students sitting on the edge of their seats wanting to learn more. When that ticket is present and I'm on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, the white house is enormous and has 132 rooms. Also you may have learned that George Washington never lived in the White House. Although I learned some interesting facts I want to expand my knowledge and go deeper into the history. Kids love to learn new exciting things especially when they hear it first hand and then they get to see proof of what was done on the teacher's trip. Now this ticket that I was given really isn't only for me it's more for these kids. • 5. Washington Dc Research Paper Development of Washington D.C. Washington D.C. is considered by many people to be the most important city in not just the United States, but in the whole world. Washington D.C., to many, is like the capitol of the free world. Decisions that have made the world how it is today have happened in is very city which was named after the first president of the United States. As important as the city itself is, its development is just as important. That is why, in the following, we will explore how Washington D.C. came to be the great city it is today. George Washington himself chose the location of Washington D.C.; north of where the Potomac and Anacostia rivers meet. The city was officially founded on July 16, 1790. The National Mall consists of the Capitol Building, the Washington Monument, and the Lincoln Memorial. First, we will talk about the Washington Monument. The Washington Monument is a stone obelisk over 500 feet tall and is the centerpiece of the National Mall. The monument is also made out of 40,000 marble and granite blocks and is the tallest freestanding structure in the world. You might ask yourself; What is holding this structure together? The answer is the monuments weight. After six years of construction on the monument, the project ran out of money because of the young nation going to civil war. The monument was only 150 feet in the air at this point. Twenty–four years later, 1878, construction once again began on the Washington Monument. Thomas Lincoln Casey was the head engineer on the construction, but was faced with a problem right away because the original blocks were not available anymore. That is why the bottom portion of the structure is a different shade than the top portion. Casey had another problem; Congress could not reach a decision on how the Monument should be ... It was so much fun being with my friends when suddenly I see a small figure huddled by a trash bin. I said bye to my friends and walked over to this figure. When just then I notice it is a German Shepherd puppy! When I approached it it jumped right into my arms! I pulled him off but he didn't want to. I started walking toward home with the puppy hopefully thinking if mom will let me keep him. I stop at the store to buy wood to secretly build a dog house. When I got home I begged mother to keep she said she would think about it. I hid the dog on the porch with some food, water, and a blanket. When dad arrived ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Washington Dc For A Nation Youth Leadership Forum On... Ever since I entered high school I have been interested in working for a federal law enforcement agency. I have been to Washington DC for a Nation Youth Leadership Forum on National Security, and have had the chance to meet many people from different agencies. Being able to talk to these people about their jobs only increased my interest in this field of work. When thinking about what I want to do in the future I would like to work as a special agent. Almost every federal agency has careers that would allow me to do such work. The FBI, DEA and ATF are just a few of the agencies that employ my subject. The ATF also has three sets of values; the first is to value their people and the people that they serve, secondly they value partnerships that promote safety in the community and finally they value integrity, diversity, commitment and excellence. (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, n.d.) In order for the ATF to measure their performance they developed a performance index to measure the ten core functions that the ATF has. Those core functions include: Illegal firearms trafficking; firearms criminal possession and use; firearms industry operations; criminal groups and gangs; explosives, bombs and bombings; explosives industry operations; fire and arson; alcohol and tobacco; modernizations and finally work force. The way the index works is by giving weight to each core functions and doing an objective calculation. (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, 2010) Each year the ATF has to submit a Congressional Budget for a fiscal year. For example when looking at the submission for the fiscal year 2014 they have included a summary of program changes, decision unit justification and performance. In 2014 the ATF requested a total of $1,229,518,000. • 11. Oppose Susan 's Proposal For Relocation With The... 1. I feel the President and Board members should reject Susan's proposal to relocate to Florida. A feasibility study should be conducted to determine the viability of WPP's relocation before proceeding with the development to Philadelphia, Charlotte or Washington, DC. According to Susan, The Bank of America would sponsor a questionable Warrior–to–Work program, agreeing to hire 50 veterans per year as full–time employees, regardless of qualifications. The board is faced with a conflict of interest, which might benefit Susan and her husband. Conflicts of interest among a board of directors can take several forms and this situation leaves no room for negotiation. It is a best practice to avoid or minimize conflicts of interest. Non–profit board members should be discharged of their duties in accordance with their inability act in the best interests of the organization. The presentation by Susan outlined her questionable ethics and commitment to the pursuing the best interests of WWP. I do not think there is room for negotiation because Susan refused to acknowledge John's discovery of lower Jacksonville and equally attractive properties. 2. Poor performance or questionable ethics can get anyone fired from their job and a board chair is no different. In Susan's context she took advantage of her position and proposed an immoral action. The chair of a board of directors is often a well–regarded member and who is expected to be honest and not take advantage of their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Narrative Essay On National History Day Washington Dc The hardest thing I've ever done was National History Day last year. This was difficult because I procrastinated so much and was never assigned any projects like it before. I was able to get through it however, and then I had to work with a group and we chose group performance and it got easier from there. Here is the story of how I went to Washington DC because of NHD. So when we were first assigned with NHD nobody wanted to do it in our class. After the teacher had explained what we're doing and how we're going to do it, everyone was boredom. I didn't want to do it so much that when we were supposed to be working I didn't work because all I could think was this is way too boring. Even when we were assigned homework, I wouldn't do that. As each deadline passed for sources and rough drafts, I didn't have anything to turn in. Also as each deadline passed I got more and more nervous knowing that I'd get a horrible grade in the class if I didn't do it. Then, I'd get grounded a lot could've happened from that. That's the situation my friend and I were in last year. I was 14 and my family and I were going to Washington DC for a surprise party for my aunt. She was turning 50. My friend, Chloe, had always wanted to go to DC, it was on the top of her bucket list. When I told my parents that, they laughed and told me I could bring her with us. I was super excited to bring her along with us and I couldn't wait to tell her. I was very facetious about asking her if she wanted to come with us. • 15. Washington Dc And How The Location Of Howard University After I obtain my undergraduate degree in Neuroscience, I would like to go to medical school. I've always wanted to attend Howard College of Medicine. Primarily, because of the program they have there and the fact that they focus on serving underserved communities. With that, I also really love the location of the school. Howard University is located in the District of Columbia, our nation's capital. I'm going to discuss Washington DC and how the location of Howard University plays a role in the school's significance. Washington DC is located on the east coast of the United States, sandwiched between two states, Maryland and Virginia. The city itself is only 68.3 square miles big. The elevation is 0 ft. above sea level at its lowest point and 410 ft. above sea level at its highest point. This area is located on the North American Plate. DC isn't often affected by earthquakes. The nearest fault line is west of the city which runs through Virginia and Maryland. Most times when DC experience's earthquakes it's because of that. The District of Columbia is essentially located on the Potomac River. The Potomac River is a river that's about 405 miles long and it flows into the Chesapeake Bay. Also the Anacostia River and the Rock Creek river run through the city and both flow into the Potomac River. Washington DC also has a few reservoirs of water; the Dalecarlia Reservoir, the Georgetown Reservoir and the McMillan Reservoir. With the location of these bodies of water, DC shares ... California And Washington Dc : The Highest Gun Murder Rate California in 2011 had the highest gun murder rate with 1,220 homicides, which accounted for 68 percent or 3.25 gun murders per every 100,000 people. Washington DC had the highest per 100,000 people gun murders with 12 per 100,000 and the highest gun used robberies with 242.56 out of every 100,000 people (Howerton, 2013). Seeing these statistics would probably get you thinking California and Washington DC must be pretty lax on their control, wrong, California was actually even the honors as the strongest state on control, while Washington DC dating back to 1976 required all gun owners to register their gun, banned new purchases of handguns, and requires all gun owners to store their guns dissembled (Howerton, 2013). Take a look at Texas who has one of the lesser gun control laws, they saw only 699 gun related homicides or 2.91 homicides per 100,000 people (Howerton, 2013). While state with the least amount of control, Utah had just 26 gun homicides. These statistics are not just limited to the United States, other nations known for having strict gun control laws, have seen increases in murder rates. The nine nations with the highest gun control have 3 times the murders than the nine nations with no or relatively low gun control (Howerton, 2013). Washington, D.C. is known for the White House, for Capitol Hill, all the monuments to great Americans and to historic moments. I never had an answer to these questions until eleventh grade when I went on a school trip to Washington D.C with the purpose of visiting the National Museum of African American history and culture. The trip was selective and I was chosen to attend as I was not only a student who consistently got high grades on my assignments, but because I also had a great interest in going to Washington D.C in order to see the historic monuments. The trip to Washington D.C taught me the importance of learning about the past on account of it always affecting our lives. I myself have needed to learn from my past in order to improve for the future. At the start of my high school career, I procrastinated a great deal as I would wait till the last moment to hand in an assignment which would mean it never got any feedback and was of low quality or simply ...
