THE QUESTIONS
 Do we really have a problem in the
    Indian Education System?
     A resounding "yes!"
 Who is to be blamed?
 People who are contributing are
blamed and those who watch are the
       ones pointing the fingers.
 When governments , policy-makers & the
academia, notwithstanding their earnest effort could
hardly make any real impact – can we do something
    about it?
     A definitive "yes!"
THE PROBLEM – IN OUR EDUCATION
SYSTEM
The problem lies in the serious disconnect between
teaching, learning and assessment.

We teach people how to remember, we never teach them how to
                    grow. – Oscar Wilde
THE STAKEHOLDERS
 Before we try to arrive at a solution for the problem, we
need to figure out who the stakeholders are:
      Traditionally accepted:
         Administrators
         Government & Policy-makers

         Teachers

         Students

     Other stakeholders, to
        be included:
         Parents?
         Alumni?

 Other members of the community, such as:

             Retired people / home-makers??
Policy-makers /

THE SOLUTION – WE, THE COMMUNITY
 Traditionally, THE RESPONSIBILITY AND ACCOUNTABILITY
HAS BEEN VESTED WITH TEACHERS AND THE
ADMINISTRATION but with the transformation of the world
economy into a global village and the transition from
industrial to the information age i.e. knowledge
    economy, THE PROACTIVE AND SYSTEMATIC
INVOLVEMENT OF ALL THE STAKEHOLDERS IN THE SYSTEM IS
THE ONLY SOLUTION to the problems in our education
    system.
 CAMPUS AROUND THE CORNER (hereafter referred to as
Campus Around) will act as a catalyst by providing the
Community Model, Technology Platform and other
requisite resources for seamless integration of the
    otherwise disparate system.

PURSUE THY PASSION
 Every child has limitless potential to persevere, pursue and
perform anything that they are passionate about undeterred.
They are not hampered, as much when it comes to thinking
about reasons why not to do things and they can be full of
inspiring aspirations and hopeful thinking, provided their
    energies are channelized.
 Campus Around’s “pursue thy passion” is an innovative
program meant for children in the age group of 8-14
years. This programme will help them identify and work
towards their passion with the support of the community
around that includes their parents, teachers and mentors who
will assist them in pursuing the desired passion. This
programme is intended to create an ideal eco-system that will
foster every child’s pursuit of passion.
THE ORIGIN
CAMPUS AROUND THE CORNER is a start-up NGO, working
towards a transformational community driven movement
for improvement in the quality of education provided to
children in India.
‘Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens
can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.’

CAMPUS AROUND was established in 2011, originally
conceived to publish informational materials to bring about
the intended change in the community. However, on our
interaction with various stakeholders in the community, we
realized that “ACTION SPEAKS LOUDER THAN WORDS”, hence
we decided to get hands-on by becoming a grass-root
level organization.
THE WORKING
 Campus Around is developing a framework for the
community involvement and will also deploy full-time
and volunteering resources to enable SCHOOLS to
    adopt the model.
Other than providing the literature for the model and the
man-power, Campus Around will also, in collaboration
with the technology industry, provide many Information
and Communication Technology (ICT) solutions for use
    by all the stakeholders.
 Campus Around is an initiative to create a platform for
    the entire community including administrators,
educators, parents, teachers and retired people, among
others, to contribute to the holistic development of the
    child.
THE PROPOSED – TECHNOLOGY
SOLUTIONS

 The proposed technology platform may include –
    a) an objective driven portal & social networking
platform for the engaging children and other
       stakeholders,
    b) tools for teachers, compliant with CCE Guidelines,
    c) platform to build a digital knowledge repository of
       learning resources,
    d) a not-for-profit online market place for institutional
       needs fulfillment
CAMPUS AROUND AS A CCE ENABLER
 Campus Around will help the teacher in honing the skills
acquired through training from C.B.S.E. to assess the children
    as per the CCE* guidelines.
 Campus Around will provide the technology platform to assess
the scholastic and co-scholastic areas as per the CCE
Guidelines for the teachers to systematically and
progressively, plan, execute and monitor to produce the
    intended result.
 Campus Around & the School concerned will jointly ensure
that the parents are kept apprised of the progress of their
children as a result of the systematic approach mandated in
the CCE Guidelines. Campus Around will focus on attracting
the parents’ support and voluntary participation for the holistic
development of not only their children but the community as a
    whole.
    * Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) refers to a system of school based assessment that covers all aspects of student’s
                                                           development.

                                                                       become an effective CCE

* Note: Campus Around is a not-for-profit organization and is not affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE)
THE PARTNERS - EXISTING
 Knowledge Foundation – An expert group promoting
Research and Development (R&D) in the fields of Social
    Sciences, Information and Communication Technology
at the higher education level. Visit the official website at
    www.knowledge-foundation.org.
 Interfaith Foundation is an organization working for the
welfare of the world at large and has gone far beyond
the first step of just talking about religious tolerance. Its
being increasingly recognized that world religions have
much in common with each other. We are interrelated
and interconnected with each other. We are not a group
of islands but a Global Village. Visit the official website
    at www.interfaithfoundationindia.com.
SEEKING PARTNERS FOR CHANGE!!!
 Campus Around being a community driven movement
for change believes that the value that these partners
bring in would eventually lead to achievement of the set
    goals.
 Other than the partners such as Schools, Community
and those defined in the model, Campus Around is also
seeking for partnerships in various geographies across
the global who are having varied grass-root level
    expertise in the fields of:
     Capacity Building
     Information and Communication Technology
 Organizations working for social transformation with
        special emphasis on education
 Organizations working in campaigning and
        implementation of `adult literacy programmes
THE COMMITMENT
 Campus Around movement intends to bring about a
sustainable CHANGE and positive IMPACT by 2020 for
a minimum of ONE MILLION CHILDREN and about
    HUNDRED THOUSAND TEACHERS.
 Campus Around hopes to MENTOR AND MONITOR our
PARTNER SCHOOLS to successfully implement the CCE
Guidelines initiated by the MINISTRY OF HUMAN
RESOURCES DEVELOPMENT (MHRD), GOI, through the
CENTRAL BOARD OF SECONDARY EDUCATION (C.B.S.E.).
 Once the CCE Model is proven in these Schools, we
foresee all boards across the country adopting the same
or similar model for change and hence the focus on
C.B.S.E. for a start, but Campus Around will not limit its
    partnership to any particular board.
THE OUTCOME
 Adoption of Campus Around model will eventually lead
to the education system transition from teaching to
learner centered approach, coupled with the proactive
community participation for holistic development of
    children as mandated by CCE.
 Campus Around will assist the teaching community by
providing functional models, systems and processes,
and technology tools to perform self-assessment which
will enable them to identify areas requiring
    personal/professional improvement inline with their
    career growth plans.
 To summarize, Campus Around believes in helping build
an eco-system where not only children are given due
emphasis, but also focus towards sustainable growth
and development of the teaching community.
THE CALL
One of the needs of our society is a MECHANISM TO
HELP OUR CHILDREN channelize the infinite resources
available at their disposal, but the CHANGE will happen
only when every member of the COMMUNITY comes
forward to JOIN THE CAMPUS and proactively
CONTRIBUTE towards achieving the desired OUTCOME
rather than just blaming the system for its inefficiency.
IF YOU STRONGLY BELIEVE THAT THE PROBLEM
STILL EXISTS AND THAT SOMEONE REALLY NEEDS
TO ACT, IT IS YOU WHO HAS TO ACT.
                 BE THE CHANGE!!

  • 4. THE QUESTIONS  Do we really have a problem in the Indian Education System?  A resounding "yes!"  Who is to be blamed?  People who are contributing are blamed and those who watch are the ones pointing the fingers.  When governments , policy-makers & the academia, notwithstanding their earnest effort could hardly make any real impact – can we do something about it?  A definitive "yes!"
  • 5. THE PROBLEM – IN OUR EDUCATION SYSTEM The problem lies in the serious disconnect between teaching, learning and assessment. We teach people how to remember, we never teach them how to grow. – Oscar Wilde
  • 6. THE STAKEHOLDERS  Before we try to arrive at a solution for the problem, we need to figure out who the stakeholders are:  Traditionally accepted:  Administrators  Government & Policy-makers  Teachers  Students  Other stakeholders, to be included:  Parents?  Alumni?  Other members of the community, such as:  Retired people / home-makers??
  • 7. Policy-makers / Government Mentors / Other community Administrator member Stakeholders @ The Campus + Supported by Alumni Campus Around Teacher Parent Student
  • 8. THE SOLUTION – WE, THE COMMUNITY  Traditionally, THE RESPONSIBILITY AND ACCOUNTABILITY HAS BEEN VESTED WITH TEACHERS AND THE ADMINISTRATION but with the transformation of the world economy into a global village and the transition from industrial to the information age i.e. knowledge economy, THE PROACTIVE AND SYSTEMATIC INVOLVEMENT OF ALL THE STAKEHOLDERS IN THE SYSTEM IS THE ONLY SOLUTION to the problems in our education system.  CAMPUS AROUND THE CORNER (hereafter referred to as Campus Around) will act as a catalyst by providing the Community Model, Technology Platform and other requisite resources for seamless integration of the otherwise disparate system.

  • 12. PURSUE THY PASSION  Every child has limitless potential to persevere, pursue and perform anything that they are passionate about undeterred. They are not hampered, as much when it comes to thinking about reasons why not to do things and they can be full of inspiring aspirations and hopeful thinking, provided their energies are channelized.  Campus Around’s “pursue thy passion” is an innovative program meant for children in the age group of 8-14 years. This programme will help them identify and work towards their passion with the support of the community around that includes their parents, teachers and mentors who will assist them in pursuing the desired passion. This programme is intended to create an ideal eco-system that will foster every child’s pursuit of passion.
  • 13. THE ORIGIN CAMPUS AROUND THE CORNER is a start-up NGO, working towards a transformational community driven movement for improvement in the quality of education provided to children in India. ‘Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.’ CAMPUS AROUND was established in 2011, originally conceived to publish informational materials to bring about the intended change in the community. However, on our interaction with various stakeholders in the community, we realized that “ACTION SPEAKS LOUDER THAN WORDS”, hence we decided to get hands-on by becoming a grass-root level organization.
  • 14. THE WORKING  Campus Around is developing a framework for the community involvement and will also deploy full-time and volunteering resources to enable SCHOOLS to adopt the model. Other than providing the literature for the model and the man-power, Campus Around will also, in collaboration with the technology industry, provide many Information and Communication Technology (ICT) solutions for use by all the stakeholders.  Campus Around is an initiative to create a platform for the entire community including administrators, educators, parents, teachers and retired people, among others, to contribute to the holistic development of the child.
  • 15. THE PROPOSED – TECHNOLOGY SOLUTIONS  The proposed technology platform may include – a) an objective driven portal & social networking platform for the engaging children and other stakeholders, b) tools for teachers, compliant with CCE Guidelines, c) platform to build a digital knowledge repository of learning resources, d) a not-for-profit online market place for institutional needs fulfillment
  • 16. CAMPUS AROUND AS A CCE ENABLER  Campus Around will help the teacher in honing the skills acquired through training from C.B.S.E. to assess the children as per the CCE* guidelines.  Campus Around will provide the technology platform to assess the scholastic and co-scholastic areas as per the CCE Guidelines for the teachers to systematically and progressively, plan, execute and monitor to produce the intended result.  Campus Around & the School concerned will jointly ensure that the parents are kept apprised of the progress of their children as a result of the systematic approach mandated in the CCE Guidelines. Campus Around will focus on attracting the parents’ support and voluntary participation for the holistic development of not only their children but the community as a whole. * Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) refers to a system of school based assessment that covers all aspects of student’s development.
  • 17. Link the parents & the Mentor & Monitor – CCE community to support CCE Campus Around as a CCE enabler* ENABLE THE SCHOOL to become an effective CCE Provide the technology compliant CAMPUS platform & tools for CCE AROUND THE CORNER * Note: Campus Around is a not-for-profit organization and is not affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE)
  • 18. THE PARTNERS - EXISTING  Knowledge Foundation – An expert group promoting Research and Development (R&D) in the fields of Social Sciences, Information and Communication Technology at the higher education level. Visit the official website at www.knowledge-foundation.org.  Interfaith Foundation is an organization working for the welfare of the world at large and has gone far beyond the first step of just talking about religious tolerance. Its being increasingly recognized that world religions have much in common with each other. We are interrelated and interconnected with each other. We are not a group of islands but a Global Village. Visit the official website at www.interfaithfoundationindia.com.
  • 19. SEEKING PARTNERS FOR CHANGE!!!  Campus Around being a community driven movement for change believes that the value that these partners bring in would eventually lead to achievement of the set goals.  Other than the partners such as Schools, Community and those defined in the model, Campus Around is also seeking for partnerships in various geographies across the global who are having varied grass-root level expertise in the fields of:  Capacity Building  Information and Communication Technology  Organizations working for social transformation with special emphasis on education  Organizations working in campaigning and implementation of `adult literacy programmes
  • 20. THE COMMITMENT  Campus Around movement intends to bring about a sustainable CHANGE and positive IMPACT by 2020 for a minimum of ONE MILLION CHILDREN and about HUNDRED THOUSAND TEACHERS.  Campus Around hopes to MENTOR AND MONITOR our PARTNER SCHOOLS to successfully implement the CCE Guidelines initiated by the MINISTRY OF HUMAN RESOURCES DEVELOPMENT (MHRD), GOI, through the CENTRAL BOARD OF SECONDARY EDUCATION (C.B.S.E.).  Once the CCE Model is proven in these Schools, we foresee all boards across the country adopting the same or similar model for change and hence the focus on C.B.S.E. for a start, but Campus Around will not limit its partnership to any particular board.
  • 21. THE OUTCOME  Adoption of Campus Around model will eventually lead to the education system transition from teaching to learner centered approach, coupled with the proactive community participation for holistic development of children as mandated by CCE.  Campus Around will assist the teaching community by providing functional models, systems and processes, and technology tools to perform self-assessment which will enable them to identify areas requiring personal/professional improvement inline with their career growth plans.  To summarize, Campus Around believes in helping build an eco-system where not only children are given due emphasis, but also focus towards sustainable growth and development of the teaching community.
  • 22. THE CALL One of the needs of our society is a MECHANISM TO HELP OUR CHILDREN channelize the infinite resources available at their disposal, but the CHANGE will happen only when every member of the COMMUNITY comes forward to JOIN THE CAMPUS and proactively CONTRIBUTE towards achieving the desired OUTCOME rather than just blaming the system for its inefficiency. IF YOU STRONGLY BELIEVE THAT THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS AND THAT SOMEONE REALLY NEEDS TO ACT, IT IS YOU WHO HAS TO ACT. BE THE CHANGE!! +91-9811087271 | join@campusaround.org | http://www.campusaround.org
