The use of lighting upon Eminem also connotes that he is trying to hide from the lime-light and keep to himself. But also portraying the struggles he has been through by showing him as a lonely figure The Masthead for Rolling Stone has a basic headline but one that stands out. It is partly covered by Eminem head which shows that the magazine is so established with its brand identity that the target audience will know its a rolling stone magazine. The font is also unique with the swirling “R” giving it a unique brand identity Features Headline The features in this magazine draw the audience even further into buying the magazine, with small snippets of what might happen inside. Apart from the Masthead, the Headline of Eminem is the largest text and therefore connotes that the magazine will be focusing on this main artist. The font is also very bold that makes it stand out. 3. Masthead Cover Image The Masthead for Kerrang has a very impacting one, with bold font against a black header. As well as this Kerrang has a brand identity with black streaks through the lettering, creating a shattering effect and therefore enhancing the rock and roll affect. Biffy Clyro is photographed wearing a leather jacket, connoting the Kerrangs rock and roll side and target their main audience.It also reflects onto the audience of what type of band they are and what kind of music they play. The poses they are standing in seem confident and show them as the new upcoming best band. Features Headline The features in this magazine draw the audience even further into buying the magazine, with small snippets of what might happen inside. This reveals and is a mode of addressing the audience into what is happening inside the magazine. The language is very casual and targets the audience between 15-25 age. The young teens audience is mainly targeted. The headline is the next biggest font on the front cover of the magazine and gains the attention of the audience into the main focus of the magazine. Masthead Cover Image The masthead for the NME magazine is very impacting with a bold black background with the logo NME being in bright red, clear font making it easily stand out to the targeted audience and connotes that this is a rock and roll magazine with red font resembling this. The cover image for the NME has a very unique look to it and therefore attract the audience from other ordinary magazines. It has a ripped page effect which quite affectively shows the different sides of Brandon Flowers personalities which also relates to the catchline of “I’m having a personality crisis right now...” Features Headline The features in this magazine draw the audience even further into buying the magazine, by foreshadowing what will happen within the magazine. 5. Masthead Cover Image The masthead for the “Vibe” magazine is very bright and outstanding, being the biggest font on the page and establishing itself to the audience. The bright yellow used also stands out against the black background and represents that magazine as unique and also represents its brand identity. The Cover image for Vibe features Eminem and Dr Dre. The mis-en-scene of this photo is very important, dressed up in doctor costumes and using props connotes the title of their new song “I need a doctor”. As well as this the lighting is quite bright on the outfits connoting that they are “saviours” and “heroes”. Features Headline The features shown within this Vibe magazine draw the audience even further into the magazine and make them want to buy and read what is happening inside in more details. It follows the theme of the magazine of bright yellow and white. The headline connotes that the main feature of this magazine will be Eminem and Dre and connotes that it will be based around their new song. It also uses a rhetorical question to draw more intrest into the subject that it is being based upon Barcode Vibefollows the codes and conventions of magazines by having the barcode on the front cover however places it in the left hand corner and display the price and information. 6. Masthead Cover Image The masthead for the clash magazine stands out against the white background of the magazine, having a bright and vibrant red font, connoting the image of rock and roll. The font used is informal suggesting that this magazine is fun and for a younger audience. It is relatively small for a masthead connoting that it has already established its identity. The cover image of the Killers represents them as a very fashionable and iconic band, with a very “cool” and “up to date” look connoting to fans that they want to look like this. The poses the band are in suggest they are very confident, with most of the musicians look straight at the audience. The lighting suggest they are outgoing as the bright light reflects them as “party goers” Features Headline Features in this magazine draw the audience into buying it and reading what is happening inside. This is a lure and also attract a larger variety of audience. As well as this the banner of “Issue 32” in bright yellow defiantly stands out and suggest that this is an important issue. The headline of “The Killers” is very large font so immediately stands out and suggest the main focus of this magazine.
