Re: Professional Plan
Goals:
To help students effectively and fluently communicate mathematical
reasoning.
Objectives:
A student learns a topic best when required to teach it to another
person.  We will implement the activities listed below in order to reinforce
this   experience.     The   students   in   my   Calculus   BC   class   will   learn   to
communicate fluently in mathematics as a language.  They will instruct each
other in cooperative activities and explain their results to me via extended
tasks. I will emphasize the importance of  making mathematical arguments
graphically, numerically, analytically and verbally.  We will also learn to use
a Computer Algebra System to write mathematical reports.
Activities:
Cooperative Activities
Lab Work (extensive use of Math Lab 429 Applications)
Group Review Sessions
Team Tests
Research Buddies
Extended Tasks and Alternative Assessments
SelfPaced Calculus&Mathematica Notebooks
Take Home Exams
Board Work
Class Participation
Self Evaluation:
I   will   keep   a   weekly   log   of   activities   used   in   class   and   their
effectiveness.
