4. For Page 8, read pages 376-378 and illustrate in
the following manner:
• Upper Left Quadrant – draw out the three
phases of industrialization discussed on pages
376-377.
• Upper Right Quadrant – illustrate how the
use of machines changed workers’ lives. This
is also discussed on pages 376-377.
• Lower Left Quadrant – Illustrate and label
three of the transportation innovations from
the 1800s discussed on pages 377-378.
• Lower Right Quadrant – draw out the areas
united by railroads. This is discussed on page
378 and there is a map on page 379.
5. For Page 9, read pages 378-381 and illustrate in
the following manner:
• Upper Left Quadrant – illustrate two effects
(either positive or negative) of expanding
canals as discussed on pages 378-379.
• Upper Right Quadrant – show how the
telegraph worked as written about on pages
379-380.
• Lower Left Quadrant – design a promotion
about one of the farming innovations from the
1800s discussed on pages 380-381.
• Lower Right Quadrant –This is the only one
that is written out. Write a 2-sentence
summary addressing “How did technology
change the way people lived?”
