Who would be the audience for your media product?
Drugs Drug taking may be shown but the film as a whole must not promote or encourage drug misuse. The misuse of easily accessible and highly dangerous substances (for example, aerosols or solvents) is unlikely to be acceptable.
British Board Of Film Classification Drug taking is shown within our production but is in no way promoting it, and does not encounter any misuse of easily accessible and highly dangerous substances including aerosols and solvents. The only drug consuming visible in our production is at the beginning where the unidentified character snorts cocaine.
Horror Strong threat and menace are permitted unless sadistic or sexualised.
British Board Of Film Classification Strong threatening behaviour is shown as the male approaches the house and begins thumping the door, this behaviour is towards the woman within the household and is shown briefly, however the outcome after he has broken into the home is not shown.
British Board Of Film Classification There is strong language including ‘fucking’ and ‘bitch’ used to express the anger the male is feeling.
British Board Of Film Classification My production is suitable for 15 years and over, I think this is a great classification to be set at for my production because it is at the age where people begin to become curious and start experimenting with drugs, however associating drugs with danger and abuse, is far from glamorous and hopefully repel teenage urges to feel the need that they have to consume illegal substances to fit in. This production points out different dangers drugs can lead onto such as ending up in debt and unable to fund your addiction which can result into being beaten, and losing people who care about you.
How Did You Attract/Address Your Audience?
Realism I think the most appealing characteristic our production provides is the realism behind the storyline. There are drug dealings being committed around us and it is part of everyday life, the more young people know about the dangers and side effects of these drugs the less appealing the drugs are. Another part of everyday life is abuse, within a household away from anyone, anything could happen to an individual behind closed doors. People have personally experienced the different events within Used And Abused, such as consuming and dealing drugs, abusing and being abuse. People can relate to it.
I think it would mostly appeal to teens as it is an exclusive insight on everyday actions being committed everyday by people their age and older, such as Kidulthood, which encounter extreme detail in London life, drugs and sex. Although we do not show any physical contact abuse the idea is that the spectator would think of their own outcomes from both perspectives, and put themselves in the woman's position, what they would do and where they would go.
What works What I think works is that we have encountered different aspects of life from different points of view. We have included two very different lifestyles being joined together by drugs. Creating tension with aggressive behaviour and strong language. Using everyday scenarios which people can relate to.
Tough Theme The theme attracts the younger generation because it involves them and their lifestyles. The way the attacker is dressed, is iconic for teenagers.
