   for their customers
Monthly Vacancies

A vacancy has arisen within the business; they
are looking for someone who has the customers
best interest at heart…

                     Could I become a
                      Tropical Travel
                        Employee?
Your Job is…

You will be given a success criteria to find the
most suitable holiday for the Poolton Family

Within the Poolton Family there are:
Mum and Dad aged 45 and 46
Three children that are aged 9, 18 and 21
Nan and Grandad aged 68 and 70
Success Criteria
The holiday must be:
  Flying from Birmingham Airport
No longer than 7 hours away
Temperature no lower than 25 degrees
Temperature no higher than 40 degrees
Must take place within the school holidays
  All Inclusive
Hotel must be 3 stars or more
Have 1 family room and 1 double room
Must be lower than £800 per person
  No longer than 1 week
Final Aim
As a group you will research a variety of different
holidays which are best suited for the success
                           criteria.
You will then:-
Design and create an effective spreadsheet to record
  your results found.
Record your results and findings in the spreadsheet
Pick out the most suitable and least suitable.
Produce a range of graphs that will compare and
  contrast what you have found.
  suitable and least suitable.
Present to the class your conclusion.
So what do you do now?
Within your groups you need to:

Think about a suitable spreadsheet design that will be
purposeful when recording all results- What headings
  will you need?
Brainstorm ideas of what each person will need to
  research
What countries do you think will fit into the success
  criteria?
How will you organise your group?

                           REMEMBER
It is a group task, therefore everyone should have a purpose
and it should be completed as a team effort!
Your Task…
To create a brainstorm on Microsoft Word to show what areas you
 need to research

Create another brainstorm outlining different destinations that you
predict will be suitable for the success criteria in Microsoft Word.

Record the headings that you will need in your spreadsheet on the
template that has been given for you in Microsoft Excel.

Resources are available at the bottom of lesson two page

                         Remember
It is a group task- this means you must ensure everyone
has a role within your group
What is next?
Within the next sessions you will:
  Conduct effective and useful research
Design and create a spreadsheet to input the data
Record the different holidays that meet the success criteria
Compare and contrast results- which is best for the success
  criteria
Produce a variety of graphs to show:
How many records you had for each destination
The different web pages that you used and how many times
How much the holiday would cost for the whole of the family
Most suitable for the success criteria
Least suitable for the success criteria

Remember the use of formulas will help you complete the
                           spreadsheet
So for next
session get
your travel
agent heads
