2. Strategic purpose of the station
‘‘ We are committed to increase the footprint of community radio
stations across the country. Our vision is to ensure that there is a
community radio station in every municipality. We have begun a
process to look at the impact of the community radio support
programme since its inception in 1998. . . . This will ensure an
integrated approach to addressing the needs and challenges of
existing Community Radio Stations and the establishment of new
stations.’’

3. Background
Inakekelo FM is a rural based non-profit community radio station
based in Mthambothini, Mpumalanga. The station was born in 2010
at a community meeting and in 2011 it was registered as a non
profit community organisation.
The station aims to be a credible source of information and a
communication platform of choice in addressing cultural, economic,
health and social wellbeing of the community.
Inakekelo means to Care and our slogan means we are here because
of you.
4. Mission statement
We will strive to enrich our listeners lives by providing relevant
information that enhances their life's choices and well being of the
community
We aim to be the preferred communication platform in fostering the
democratic values of the country and championing social justice for all.
Our content is driven by our community values.
