The Next Play Overview
1. THE NEXT PLAY
Helping women athletes launch successful lives.
The Next Play is a program specifically designed to walk with each woman collegiate athlete as
she designs a life (not just a job) that calls on her innate talents and allows her to find meaning
doing what she loves. We accomplish this by partnering her with what she knows best: a coach.
Background: Whatʼs the Need?
We know that women athletes have that special something that make them outstanding leaders.
Itʼs not a coincidence that 96% of women in todayʼs C-suites played a sport.1 Yet, despite the
explosion of participation in womenʼs sports over the past four decades, women are not making
significant inroads in leadership roles in organizations.2 Whatʼs happening? The confidence and
vision of our very best candidates is being lost in transition.3
By pairing women athletes with a personal leadership and development coach - to support their
growth, tap into their strengths, and nurture their confidence - we believe they become
empowered and intentional as they face this transition head-on.
Whatʼs Next Play Coaching?
Next Play Coaching is a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires every woman
athlete to maximize her personal and professional potential. Full engagement can help her
develop a vision, define her personal core values, become more confident, increase
performance, productivity, and personal effectiveness.
Every Next Play CoachTM is a certified, experienced, and credentialed International Coaching
Federation coach who is trained to focus on the individual, honoring her as the expert in her
own life. Together, athlete and coach will explore what she really wants to achieve, encourage
self-discovery and self-awareness, and empower her to generate solutions and strategies that
can sustain her confidence and her life.
Whatʼs the Commitment:
• Personal dedication and desire: every athlete will sign an agreement about how sheʼll work
together with her coach, underscoring confidentiality and accountability
• One-on-one, virtual (phone, Skype, FaceTime, or other web-based platform) meetings are
completed at scheduled times that are convenient for the student
• Sophomores meet with a coach 4x/year; Juniors meet 3x/year
Whoʼs a Good Candidate?
Any woman athlete who:
• Wants to create a compelling vision for her life.
• Is interested in learning more about herself and is curious and willing to try something new.
• Is motivated to succeed, and will be committed to the process.
