5. • In Turkey, early childhood education system is
teacher centered. Students are more passive
than their teachers in their classroom.
• Teachers are authoritarian and dominant
members of class. Therefore, preschool
students remain in the background. They
cannot participate in class activities.
6. • How can we increase students’ activity in
classroom ?

14. CURRICULUM
• Our early childhood
education system is
regulated without
considering children’s
abilities.
• The children who are
exposed to this curriculum
cannot be express
themselves because they
have different abilities than
what the curriculum expects.
• In current curriculum
teachers have authority on
children so students stay
behind.
LACK OF RESOURCES
• The budget for preschools
is not enough to meet
needs of early childhood
education programs.
• Limited materials keep
children away from
participating some
activities.
• Because of limited
resources, their
imagination does not
improve.

Editor's Notes
Especially with 4+4+4 education system school buildings became insufficient for early childhood education because many buildings have been reformed for elementary students so preschool students have to receive education at prefabricate buildings which are quite unqualified in school gardens.
In addition, many preschool students do not even have main materials such as colour pencils, books and toys which are very important and necessary for their educational development.
Information and definition of preschool education depends on person to person. For example, according to housewives preschool education is a kind of resting time.
These answers of question are surprising for us because it completely conflict with our subject of project. While our problem is passive students in class, the majority of participants thinks that students actively participate in classroom activities. Therefore, we asked to some participants about it. They told us that her child was a hyperactive child so she thinks that her child actively participates class activities. There is a misunderstanding about activeness of children. they thought that being active means being physically active.
According to research reports in 2014 years about preschool education budget, in OECD countries the budget is 0.4 % whereas in Turkey the budget is 0.1 %.
According to findings, there are only 23 inspectors about preschool education. Since there are few inspectors, supervision of preschool education has been done by elementary school teachers. Therefore, the number of preschool inspectors should be increased.
To investigate our project in depth, we visited a kindergarten which name is Türkan Şoray Kindergarten. In there, every week, a parent has come and done activities with children. The child whose mother has come to school is very excited and participates activities more eagerly.
