Basics of Horror <ul><li>Horror films are movies that strive to elicit the emotions of fear, horror and terror from viewers. Their plots frequently involve themes of death, the supernatural or mental illness. Many horror movies also include a central villain. </li></ul>
My Idea Film starts with a bunch of friends watching a Horror film, one of the friends takes the film in a different way to the others. The film sparks something dark inside him and he starts to kill his friends one by one. It all comes to a terrifying stand off between the last remaining survivor and the deranged killer that ends with one dieing by the hand of the other. I named my film day break because all of the deaths happen at day break. My Target Audience I am planning to aim my film at the 18 to 25 year old bracket. I chose this area because my film will be an 18 so that limits me from lowering the age of my target audience. I also chose to go to 25 because my film will be the sort of film that probably wont appeal to the people over the age of 25 e.g. 30 etc.

Primary Research cont… Questionnaire cont... Is there anything you can think of to improve my idea? ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Which film most appeals to you? Definitely Maybe Die Hard 4.0 Atonement Texas Chainsaw Massacre Night at the Museum Why? ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Thanks For doing my Questionnaire
Primary Research cont… According to my primary research Comedy is the hands on favourite of the film types. Horror is the favourite of the boys, whereas comedy is high favourite of the girls. Although the results for girls was also high in Horror and the results for boys were also high for comedy
Primary Research Cont…. For the boys it was a tie because there are three boys and one voted both Night at the Museum and Texas Chainsaw Massacre, but the other two just voted for either one of the two. Night at the Museum was the clear favourite of the girls. But the others only got 1 vote each apart from Die Hard 4.0 that got 0. Just like Atonement got 0 with the boys votes.
Primary Research Cont… This graph shows that my idea got a very positive response. Every questionnaire that I handed out came back that people liked my idea and thought that the concept was very goood.
Primary Research Conclusions <ul><li>Overall people think that my idea is good </li></ul><ul><li>Although it is a good idea I’ve been told that I need to add in a bit of gore and blood </li></ul><ul><li>Need to put together a storyboard that will plan out the events of my short film </li></ul><ul><li>I also nee to write a rough script and then check the responses on a small focus group to see if people want to change their minds </li></ul>
Secondary Research <ul><li>I took influence from the film Scream made in 1996. </li></ul><ul><li>The killers in Scream say that the reason for there killings is the influence of film. </li></ul><ul><li>This made a good idea for a film so I thought of an idea based on that. </li></ul><ul><li>Also it contrasts the beliefs of some people that violent images e.g. films, video games lead to violent behaviour </li></ul><ul><li>Teasers, unlike typical theatrical trailers, are usually very short in length </li></ul><ul><li>usually contain little, if any, actual footage from the film </li></ul>
Secondary Research cont… Steps To Making A Teaser Trailer- 1. Decide what the movie is going to be about, and what type of action you'll make. 2. Two examples are live action and animation. 3. Write a rough script, and jot down production notes: who the characters are, the setting, the theme, etc. 4. Watch videos on YouTube or something of the sort and watch home-made teaser films. Notice their style and technique (but don't copy them). 5. Cast for your characters, if they have speaking parts. Choose carefully. If there will be an actual movie following, the characters should match up with the ones to be in the movie. (Unless, of course, you have miscellaneous extras in it, too, that will not be in the movie.) 5. Get your camera or computer running and go! Don't be afraid to redo several things. Filming and writing (especially so with group effort) is very hard at times, but can be very rewarding. 6. Leave nothing ambiguous.
Secondary Research Conclusions <ul><li>A teaser trailer , or teaser is a short trailer used to advertise an upcoming movie, game or television series. </li></ul><ul><li>Teasers, unlike typical theatrical trailers, are usually very short in length </li></ul><ul><li>Teasers are also commonly used in advertising </li></ul><ul><li>Sometimes, it is merely a truncated version of a theatrical trailer </li></ul><ul><li>One of the reasons for the name "teaser" is because they are shown usually a long time before the movie comes out, so as to "tease" the audience. </li></ul>
Secondary Research Cont… <ul><li>Hand-held camera or hand-held shooting is a film and video technique in which a camera is literally held in the camera-operator's hands--as opposed to being placed on a tripod. The result is an image that is perceptibly shakier than that of a tripod-mounted camera. </li></ul><ul><li>Tripods are used for both still and motion photography to prevent camera movement </li></ul>
