2. This animal is a Snowy owl. Snowy owl lives is
the Artic. They make their nests on the ground
because there are no trees in the polar
regions. They use abandoned eagles nests too.
3. • Snowy owls have yellow eyes and black beaks.
They are between 52 and 71cm long and they
weigh between 16 and 3 kilos. Snowy owl has
the feathers in the feets.
4. • Adult males are white and they have brown
marks. The babies are white when they are
born. When they are getting older their
plumage is marked
5. • Snowy owls lay between 5 and 14 eggs . The
eggs are laid singly, one by one. The babies are
born about five weeks later. Their parents
protect the nest and their babies.
6. • In summer Snowy owls stay in the Artic but in
winter they fly to countries like Canada. In fact
Snowy owl is the official bird of the city of
Quebec in Canada.
7. Snowy owls are carnivores. They eat rodents
and birds. They need to eat between seven to
twelve mice or other prey every day. Like
many other birds, they swallow their prey
whole.
