Young Fawn Application
Like a freshly laid sheet of snow, the young fawn application begins with a coat of white. To create
shade a black is overlaid, after powdering of course to secure the first layer. The shading is applied
to the chin, surrounding the outer edges of the face, under the cheekbone leading to the nose, down
the bridges of the nose and overtop the forehead. Like most fawns, a speckle of white youth is
applied to the face in all places shading occurs but towards the middle of the face especially. A black
is used on the nose, making the nose appear more flat and connecting with the cupid's bow towards
the top lip which should also be shaded with the black. The prosthetics will be added overtop using
liquid latex and spirit gum to allow for them to sit securely during the application. Unfortunately,
due to a series of unfortunate events (an actual series of unfortunate events and not the book series,

As the tears of these sad being touched the ground they formed what appeared to be dew drops that
carried with them a piece of the being. Forward to present time. As the young fawn slurped up the
sad drop it began to change, the sky darkened and all seemed to flash at a million times per second.
The young fawn's light white coat tinted black, the animal's form changing as it's cheekbones
pushing past their original place. Disfigured, the young fawn made its way to a bush where it hid
until darkness fell over the meadow. Soon after a red fire filled the animal's eyes and a sharpness
possessed the features before two horns pushed through the temples of the animal. Now having to
live with the new form the fawn cowered until the late hours of night. The darkness only works to
intensify the colours of the fawn's eyes, turning from a green to a red as the night becomes

Analysis Of Lemony Snicket 's Series Of Unfortunate Events
Reader Response
I first read Lemony Snicket's 'Series of Unfortunate Events' when I was 10 years old. Having little
patience, I planned to just skim through but found myself immediately immersed in the story and the
writing style. The author uses clever techniques to appeal to both children and older readers, which
allowed me to remain engaged with the text. Snicket warns that, "if you are interested in books with
happy endings, you would be better off reading some other book." I found myself attracted to the
gothic elements and darker nature of the text. I found it to be uniquely different to the traditional
fairy tales with a cliché "happily ever after". A Series of Unfortunate Events has no typical "happily
ever after," but the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a child, I often felt frustrated that adults would not always take me seriously. I felt empowered by
the idea that perhaps I too was capable of solving my own problems as a self–reliant and
independent being.
Snicket is a clever and humorous narrator. He assists the reader with more advanced words,
explaining them in their given context. As a young reader, this was very educational and helpful and
allowed me to further understand and enjoy the series. As an older reader, I came to realise that he
did this in a comedic way. For example, Snicket writes, "It is now necessary for me to use the rather
hackneyed phrase "meanwhile, back at the ranch." The word "hackneyed" here means "used by so,
so many writers that by the time Lemony Snicket uses it, it is a tiresome cliché." Snicket also
introduces children to important concepts and ideas. He notes, "your initial opinion of things may
change over time," and "the children knew, as I'm sure you know, that the worst surroundings can be
tolerated if the people in them are interesting and kind." He also addressed more serious issues,
acting as a moral guide, but ensured these issues were not too overwhelming by maintaining a sense
of humour. He writes, "stealing is not excusable if, for instance, you are in a museum and you
decide that a certain painting would look better in your house... But if you were very very hungry,
and you had no way of obtaining money, it might be excusable to grab the painting, take it

Netflix Movie And Book Comparison Paper
Many authors have a specific audience in mind when they begin to create their work. This can be
seen in many different websites on the same type of information. I chose to compare the websites
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4834206/ and http://www.lemonysnicket.com/. The first website is the
IMDB information page for the new Netflix series A Series of Unfortunate Events and the second
website is the official website of the book series of the same title. Both websites provide information
on this book series.
The primary audience of the IMDB website is professional critics. These critics have professional
insight and review books, TV shows, and movies for a living. They are adults that have been hired
to critique the new series. On the IMDB website, these critics can post their reviews of the new
Netflix series and they can also rate the series. Their comments on the series will be reviewed by
other people interested in watching the series. In contrast, the primary audience of
www.lemonysnicket.com is the readers of the book. Due to the fact that this is the official website
for the books, the readers and fans of the book series trust this website and would visit it. The fans
are mostly in their teenage years or early twenties and they know the series by heart. ... Show more

These viewers would visit IMDB to look up the ratings, reviews, and summary of the series to make
the decision of whether or not they want to see the show. On the other hand, the secondary audience
of lemonysnicket.com would be the actors of the Netflix original series. On this website, the actors
can learn more about Lemony Snicket, the author of the book, and each of the 13 books in the series.
They can also buy each book off of this website to read, which will help them to understand the
story and its characters and to play their roles more

Lemony Snicket's A Series Of Unfortunate Events: The Bad...
A Series of Unfortunate Events: The Bad Beginning is a novel by Lemony Snicket. The novel is
about Baudelaire children whose parents died in a fire and are left with a huge fortune. The
children's first guardian, Count Olaf, is after the children's enormous fortune. Violet, eldest
Baudelaire child, is a fourteen year old inventor. She contributes many ideas and thoughts to get her
and her siblings out of trouble. For example, when Sunny, the youngest Baudelaire, was in a
birdcage, Violet invented a grappling hook to try and climb up the rower to save her sister. She is
also a quick thinker. For example, when Count Olaf was trying to marry Violet for their fortune,
based on the books she read, they have to say, "I do," then sign a document with ... Show more

His knowledge of books, and many other subjects, mainly research, has helped them through many
predicaments. For example, when Violet did not know what Count Olaf's plan was, Klaus
researched and researched about law and justice. After he knew what Count Olaf's plan was, he
confronted him. Klaus is also very confident and selfless. Sunny, the youngest Baudelaire, is an
infant who likes to bite things. She has light brown hair and brown eyes. She is an intelligent girl,
and can get out of any situation. Sunny is always getting caught in the crossfire of Violet, Klaus, and
Count Olaf. For example, she was held hostage in a bird cage while Violet was supposed to marry
Count Olaf. She is usually the victim in most cases. Count Olaf is a man that is trying to obtain the
Baudelaire's fortune. He is a tall, grown man with one eyebrow, and a tattoo of an eye on his left
ankle. He is a devious man, not caring about the children at all. Count Olaf usually creates crazy
schemes and characters to get to the Baudelaires. For example, he always adds suspense even when

George Saunders's Civilwarland In Bad Decline
In the manner of A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket, George Saunders provides the
readers of Civilwarland In Bad Decline with a bystander's view of miserable, disgruntled characters
and their treacherous, rather unfortunate lots in life. His characters are deplorably miserable, overly
guilt–ridden, and exploited, and yet they elicit a heart wrenching compassion. Readers are left
sympathizing for the occasionally revolting characters, even empathizing with their burdens. Indeed,
Saunders exhibits plenty of correlations between each of his story's characters, simultaneously
creating a unifying quality to his stories and hinting at a greater theme. The stories within

Jeffrey's imprisonment was very literal, but also a reflection of the constricting forces acting on any
soul that has been denied it's humanity. In The Academic Postmodern and the Rule of Literature,
David Simpson declares that "humanity cannot be realized without the dignity of that the relevant
person first being acknowledged". In prison, Jeffrey reflects on the visionary alternatives, saying
"And I will emerge again from between the legs of my mother, a slighter and more beautiful baby,
destined for a different life, in which I am masterful, sleek as a deer, a winner" (64). Clearly,
because Jeffrey never experienced any form of human kindness or validation that might point
towards the acknowledgement of his dignity, the essence of "winning" was never possible for him.
His humanity was confined to a figurative cage while his body was constricted in a very literal one.
Simpson is saying that had someone bothered to acknowledged Jeffrey's dignity, he would not have
lost his sense of humanity and murdered his boss, resulting in his literally and metaphorically
permanent imprisonment. Isabelle represents the ideal of what Simpson argues for. The main
protagonist acknowledged her dignity by using her "pretty" name, and her humanity was

Race, Sexuality, Gender, And Ethnicity
Throughout the second season of ABC's American Crime, there were an extreme amount of ways in
which race, sexuality, gender, and ethnicity were depicted, troubled, and interrogated. While
watching the second season of American Crime in class, it almost seemed as if the entire series was
made just to explore each and every component of this course, Ethnics 1010. The series successfully
explored through numerous situations with all of these important components that we have
discussed throughout the semester. However, there happens to be three specific components that I
would like to elaborate on throughout this essay. The first component that I would like to elaborate
on is race. There are a lot of people throughout the series with a large amount of diversity as far as
race goes. Secondly, I would like to discuss a few aspects in which class was a very critical
component in the series. Class was extremely important because there are various people who are
apart of a different class, or have a different socioeconomic status. My last component that I would
like to elaborate on is sexuality. From the very beginning of the series, sexuality was an extremely
critical topic. Sexuality seemed to be the base structure of this series simply because everything was
based off of a key situation that occurred in the first episode, which revealed itself more and more as
the series went on. As far as the topic of race goes, there are a great deal of ways in which race was
critical

Summary: The Miraculous Journey Of Edward Tulane
As a child, I loved books. I loved the stories and brightly colored pictures. Most of the books I read
left me smiling every time I read them. Now, just seeing the cover of a book I had read when I was
young brings back fond memories. Even though I struggled with reading a bit growing up, I don't
remember it hindering my appreciation for it. I remember being really excited when it was time for
my mom to read to me every night before bed. I enjoyed Dr. Seuss, The Rainbow Fish, The Big
Hungry Bear, Tikki Tikki Tembo, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, and many more (the list goes on and
on). There were also several teachers I had that read to my classes on a daily basis. As I got into
third and fourth grade, my teachers would start reading chapter ... Show more content on

The first one is The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane by Kate DiCamillo. The reason I
remember this book so clearly, is because this is one of the first books I read that made me really
sad. It's heart wrenching and warming at the same time, which is a reason why I reread this several
times. There was also a series of books that was pretty popular when I was in elementary school
called A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket. I read the books with my older sister, but
we both were not very impressed. It's literally just as the title says; a series of unfortunate events.
The only thing that kept us reading more was the hope of a happy ending, but (spoiler alter) there
isn't one. We were amazed that someone could write so much negativity and leave the reader feeling
terrible. Another book I remember very clearly is Peppermints in the Parlor by Barbara Brooks
Wallace and Peter Ferguson. This book was a big thing in my elementary school; it was a rite of
passage in a way. Once we got to fourth grade, we knew we would be able to read it. They didn't
have it in the library, and didn't allow anyone else younger than the fourth graders to read it. It was
so fun and mysterious, which is one thing that really made me excited about

Examples Of Imperfections In Hamlet
Hamlet is one of the best–known plays by Shakespeare, but what embodies the main character,
Hamlet, to be a tragic hero? This fictional character has many imperfections since the
commencement of the play and leads to his unfortunate demise along with others who are adjacent
to him. One of the imperfections is taking action, while the other imperfection is by acting instantly
rather than celebrating exhaustively for a plausible plan. Hamlet's involution in events has been the
catalyst of many suicides, including his own as he enacts his revenge for his biological father
throughout the play. Over the scenes of the play, Hamlet would gradually notice his impuissance of

Jk Rowling Quotes
Jo Rowling
"To the well–organized mind, death is but the next great adventure", (J.K. Rowling). This quote was
made after many unfortunate events occurred in Rowling's life. Jo gave hope to women that there is
gender equality. J.K.'s famous series is not just questioning the world inside the book, but debating
bravery, loyalty, knowledge, and resourcefulness. J.K. created many inspiring words, quotes and

J.K. Rowling is known for her famous, inspiring Harry Potter series, and her pseudonym Robert

Rowling has used many habits of mind in her lifetime, including perseverance, metacognition, and
thinking flexibly. J.K. Rowling has thought about her thinking multiple times when creating and
writing her books. Another crucial habit of mind that Joanne has used is perseverance. During the
work of the first book of the series, her mother had died, birth of the first child had occurred, she
had a divorce from her husband, and relative poverty. During the death of her mother, she ceased
work of the first book, and became an English teacher in Portugal to grieve (Failure. Rejection.
Success: The J. K. Rowling Story, 2015). Still, she kept persevering until she had another
unfortunate event during the work of her first book. During her divorce she had made a very famous
quote that stated "If you want to know what a man's like, take a good look at how he treats his
inferiors, not his equals." She had also said "It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live,"

House Of Seven Gables Literary Analysis Essay
The objective of this Literary Analysis Essay is to express my opinion as it relates to the story and
discuss how the greed of Colonel Pyncheon attributed to the unfortunate generational incidents
among the Pyncheon family. I will analyze and explore the story The House of Seven
Gables to make this determination. It is expected that the literature will reveal Colonel Pyncheon is
responsible for the long chain of terrible events that played out from generation to generation among
his family.
In the story The House of Seven Gables, Nathaniel Hawthorne attempts to describe the character of
a man, Colonel Pyncheon. He describes him in the beginning as being somewhat of a respectful man

A series of events were noted to take place within the story that could be seen as very unfortunate.
To begin, Colonel Pyncheon held a party to inaugurate his new mansion, but unfortunately, was
found dead in his study at the conclusion of the party. His beard was dripping with blood. He left a
letter decreeing that his portrait should always be displayed on a wall inside his home. The family
felt as though having the portrait of him hanging around the home, made it impossible for them to
forget him, "The Evil Genius". The portrait becomes a touchstone for everything bad in the
Pyncheon family. Random incidents seem to have kept occurring that were in many ways
unexplainable.
Clifford Pyncheon, was wrongly convicted and sentenced to serve 30 years in prison. He was
accused by his greedy cousin Judge Pyncheon for the murder of his uncle. Later, word began to
spread that the judge may have framed Clifford for murder, but he was actually an innocent man.
Just a few years later, Hepzibah Pyncheon (Clifford Pyncheons sister ), was forced to open a small
store in her home in order to support herself and keep from suffering of hunger.

Reading Time Research Paper
As a child, reading was always something I loved to do. I started reading at an early age. I went to
preschool for two years, so I had an advantage when it came to reading. Once I'd gotten into
elementary school, I excelled tremendously in that area. Sitting in my kindergarten class, I'd love to
hear Mrs. Reed say, "Alright my shining stars get on the magic carpet for reading time." It was the
highlight of my day, every day. Who would've known that something as simple as reading would be
so beneficial to me later in life? Reading became one of my saving graces, as I got older. Life ,when
you're in preschool, isn't that complicated. The most stressful thing that I had to deal with was
whether I had enough crayons or if I could color inside of the lines. My mom died when I was about
three. At that time, I could read, but they were always simple books. It wasn't until later, about age
ten, that reading gave me hope. Once I was old enough to come to terms with what happened to my
mom, I started to grieve. When you're young and something traumatic happens, it takes you a while
to grieve. I started to find solace in books. They gave me the answers I longed for from the world. I

I had a hard time actually getting myself to sit down and read, but being put in so many stressful

around me. When I come home from school and I curl up with a book, my little brother has a
tendency to go get one of his books, sit with me in his bean bag chair, and read with me too. When I
go to work at a daycare, the kids always ask for reading time. They love doing their reading logs,
and they don't look at it as a requirement, they look at it as something they

A Rhetorical Analysis Of Letter To Eliza Stacey
In 1847 Eliza Stacey writes a letter to her father in law, Edward Stacey, to persuade him to help the
family get out of this debt they have unexpectedly fallen into. Through her letter Eliza Stacey uses
pathos to display the suffering the debt has brought her and ethos to establish a reason to ask for his
help. She also uses personification and anecdotes to make Edward recall the series of events in the
past that have led to debt hoping that Edward will feel sympathy and recognize Eliza's helpless
feeling and cry for help.
Eliza attempts to please to her father in–laws emotions because she wants him to realize that this
debt has put her through uncomfortable situations and hopefully that will create sympathy within
him. In line 26 Eliza begins ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She further explains the situation to her father in–law through anecdotes of past events that will
explain to Edward how they are just now trying to get out of the debt. The first anecdote used is
"some time ago George was sued by a man of the name Crosby for a debt of 12 pounds which he
had... George advised his lawyer on this debt and was led to believe that things were going on
favourably." The first anecdote shows how the family at first thought it was all going to be fixed.
The second anecdote is "the fellow hired our horse about four years ago, on which he rode... to settle
the hire and loss of our horse. But not so." This second anecdote displays why the plan with the
lawyer began to fall apart along with an extra issue added to the debt; the loss of their horse. The
third anecdote is "Last Wednesday after supper the bailiff arrived in a sleigh, arrested George and
took him to Sherbrooke gaol." thi last anecdote brings Edward to the recent of the debt and why
Eliza is now alone. With the use of these anecdotes, Eliza is able to describe the series of
unfortunate events that have built up to the unavoidable debt. This way she can also show that the
family though they would be alright because they had a plan with a lawyer. By showing that they
had a

A Streetcar Named Desire Analysis
In Tennessee Williams' play A Streetcar Named Desire, Blanche DuBois is thrust into a series of
unfortunate events and undergoes drastic changes in an effort to come to terms with her completely
changed life. Through these events, Blanche happens to be the only remaining individual left to take
care of the once valuable and prestigious family belongings, and her psychological mind spirals out
of control in her attempts to restore the family's honor. In addition to experiencing loneliness and
feeling isolation from humans, Blanche faced many new challenges in stressful situations, which
contributed to her poor decision making skills and inevitable negative outcomes in most of those
situations. Through the characterization of Blanche DuBois, Williams' intends to display the power
of significant experiences in one's life, which serves as a warning of how the effects of significant
experiences on individuals should not be underestimated. Unfortunately, in Blanche's case,
abandonment by her sister was the perfect example of an individual underestimating the result of
their actions, as this action was the initiation point of the events that would eventually lead to her
unfortunate fate. Specifically, Williams' focuses on portraying the disastrous effects of human
isolation, which is often the result of an individual's mindless actions. Human isolation plays an
important role in the outcome of the play, as Blanche is known to have been abandoned at a young
age, and her

My Favorite Book Analysis
Down By The Station: Down by the station was my favorite book when I was little. This is mostly
because of the song my mom sang with the pictures. The other part that would be entertaining to a
kid is the bright colorful pictures of the baby animals going down, one by one down by the station
Inch By Inch: Like Down by the Station, it had a song that went with it, that I can still remember to
this day. For a while this was my bedtime story every single night because I loved it so much.
The Purple Pebble: In this wonderful book, it was all neutral or gray colors, except for the purple
pebble. As a kid this was the most interesting part of the book to follow, instead of the actual plot
line.
King Bidgood: The illustrations were always packed with so much detail, so that every time I had it
read to me, I looked for something new. My mom always had to wait five minutes to flip the page,
because I wanted to focus on everything in the picture.
Are You My Mother?: A key thing I liked as a child was pictures and songs. In, Are You My Mother,
it had simplistic drawings but bright colors. Something a four year old me loved!
Green Eggs And Ham: Dr.Seuss, a classic to all. Something all kids love, because of the bright
colors and very, out there drawings. My favorite part of all of it were the rhymes. I was a very
simple minded child.
The Little House: I did really love the drawings as a child, but for The Little House, one of the best

Psychological Terror In Lemony Snicket's A Series Of...
Everyone has something that scares them, that is frightening more than blood or violence. More
often than not many people are frightened by a physiological thriller rather than one which is simply
all gore. Lemony Snicket's a Series of Unfortunate Events, is exactly that, a psychological terror that
is centered around a series of probable unfortunate events. Although, this movie may be lined with
satirical comedy, it's main storyline is rather gothic in nature. The gothic nature of this movie is
developed by its realism in its villain, plot line, and characters. Lemony Snicket's A Series of
Unfortunate Events, is about three young children whose parents died unexpectedly in a house fire,
leaving them orphaned. The three children are left to their closest relative, Count Olaf, a narcissistic
struggling actor who is a horribly unsuitable parent. It is made apparent early on that Count Olaf is
only after the Baudelaire children's inheritance. He quickly figures out he has no access to the
money, and neither do the children, until Violet the oldest turns 18, or the children die. The entire
movie is based around Count Olaf's many attempts to claim the money. For example; marrying
Violet, killing off a distant relative, leaving the children locked in a car on train tracks, ect. Count
Olaf's first play at the money, is forcing Violet to marry him by holding, Sunny hostage until after
the wedding. He disguises the wedding as a play and cons a judge into officiating the wedding.

Importance Of Reading In My Life
Life In Between The Pages Everybody reads. Everybody has picked up a book at least once in their
life and flipped through its pages. Everybody reads, but once they reach that final page, do they feel
an indifference, or do they feel a personal connection? From early childhood to young adulthood,
reading has always been a part of my life. Reading had always been important to me because as a
child, I was very shy, and being an only child, I had a lot of time on my own, so I often turned to
books to fuel my urge for adventure. Reading became personal to me at a very young age because I
read as if I was living in the book myself. Ever since that point in my life, my joy of reading
continued to flourish. The pages of my books grew thicker and thicker as I aged, and the genres
broadened and the vocabulary matured. Literature has played a meaningful role in my life since the
very beginning and helped shape me into the kind of person I am today, it has influenced my
personality directly, and the close relationship I hold with literature. If we are going to be reflecting
on the impact literature has had on me as a person, it would make the most logical sense to rewind
all the way back to the earliest point of reading in my life. Childhood. I learned to read the same
way most children did, in Kindergarten. There I was taught letters and the sounds that they made,
and from there, to put two sounds together to form a word. I caught on very fast, I was 5 years old
when I fully started

American Revolution Causes
Causes of the American Revolution
In 1775, the British came to new lands and created the colonies. The colonies had gone through
many events that all lead up to the American Revolution. One of the events that pushed the
Americans to revolt against the british; the stamp act which forced a stamp on every legal document.
In a resolution, John Adams protested against the legality of the stamp act(Document 1)."...The
Stamp Act...A very burdensome, and in our opinion unconstitutional tax is to be laid upon us all."
The quote explains how it is a very unneeded tax. This caused the American Revolution by putting

March 5 1770, a group of colonists gathered in front of british troops and the troops let loose. In a
resolution, The Sons of Liberty were a group of american colonists who favored independence from
britain which occurred in boston. The document states, "In a confusion,a scuffle broke out and
soldiers fired into the mob." The british let loose into the crowd because they couldn't take a few
light hits with a snowball or take words transferred to them by air! The quote proves how senseless
the british are under a cloud of confusion, no danger awaited them; yet they fire anyway. In a
resolution of the revolt by the colonists, the british sent several hundred british troops to Boston.
The document now shows, "They labeled this unfortunate event the 'boston massacre'...Hundreds of
copies were printed. They were sent through all of the american colonies." Without the unfortunate
event being labeled "Boston massacre" and thousands of newspaper articles written about it, the

Compare And Contrast Of King Tut, Aye's Death
As a result of Ankhenaten, King Tut, Aye's death, and the disappearing of Ankhesnamun, Horemheb
and Tey ruled Egypt. There are many theories on how this mystery occured and all of them have
evidence to back up there theories. After everything occured Horemheb ruled Egypt for 20 years.
King Tut was killed in an accident so Ankhesnamun wrote a letter to the Hitike king asking for a
prince. When King Tut was found he had a blow to the back of the head, a broken leg, and his right
rib cage was missing, I got this information from a video called How King Tut Died. The young
king died far from home. When the Hitike king sent one of his sons to become king of Egypt he was

Middle School Experience Essay
During my elementary and middle school experience I don't ever really recall doing reading groups,
however, Accelerated Reading was enforced in my elementary schools and one of my middle

Series of Unfortunate Events, a thirteen book series, and the Percy Jackson and the Olympians

The Film : A Series Of Unfortunate Events By Lemony Snicket
Greed can destroy close connections with other individuals and it can also cause harm. There are
many obstacles in one's life that vary from complexity and may soon lead to destructive actions.
When I was first introduced to this movie titled, A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket,
around the age of seven, there was something about it that seemed to capture my full attention. The
film's dark setting and dismal theme kept me wanting to know what was going to happen next. As a
child, I was into video games and books. I always had my eyes on some new series or video game
that was coming out. When this game, based under the same movie, had just came out, I was
desperate to have it in my presence. As I opened the package, I was given a free pair of movie
tickets to watch Lemony Snicket's: A Series of Unfortunate Events. At a young age like this, I was
beyond excited to watch the film. I have so many feelings towards this movie and it was nothing as I
expected it to be. The tragedies that occur throughout the events and a successful ending that
demonstrated a clear message on everything it takes to move on forward. I would say this movie
presented a positive influence on my view of the real world because of the different types of logics
that were presented throughout every event. To be able to overcome the impossible obstacles in life,
you would need to continuously push yourself through the rain or the shine.
In the real world, it takes a great deal of bravery and

What Makes A Good Or Bad?
Life; A series of unfortunate, outstanding, and inevitable events that could potentially shape your
future. The events and trials that are faced in life are said to inevitably determine your future, but
this is not so, everything is a choice. From a young age, I have always faced obstacles, many that
would easily discourage others, but I never allowed that to happen. It was a choice and a decision
that I made at the age of 5. I understood that you cannot change the impossible, but what was
possible was making a choice. All events and obstacles, unfortunate or outstanding, are life's

These unfortunate events were not only the most disappointing moments in my life, but the saddest
moments. The death of Saddie Blue and Leroy Young, were the saddest and most disappointing
moments in my life.
Leroy's death was one of my first grinding stones. Growing up I was raised around him because of
my dad's employment at the Ambulance Station. Being at the station every day, I began to grow
close to a select few, Leroy was one of those few. I began to connect with him, causing him to
become not only an influence, but a "Grandfather" figure. Unfortunately, Leroy was diagnosed with
cancer due to his heavy smoking. Slowly, Leroy began to lose weight; growing more and more ill. I
refused to leave his side, any opportunity to be around him, I took. Months pass by, Leroy does not
get better. Two years ago, in February, Leroy passed away. Approximately an hour before he passed,
my mother asked if I would like to see him one last time. Without hesitation, I said yes. Minutes
later, my dad sat me down and told me he did not want me to go see Leroy. He did not want me to
remember Leroy in that state, he wanted me to be able to remember him for who he really was.
Seconds after telling me, Leroy's wife called and told my dad that Leroy had passed. I loved Leroy,
and the reason why this was the first of two events that would change my life was because, I
watched him wither away and was never able to help him. I

An Analysis Of Mermaid By Richard Van Camp
Richard Van Camp shares the story of Torchy and his series of events that takes the reader along to
see and feel the tragedies of Torchy with his past and current experiences. In the short story
"Mermaid" by Richard Van Camp, the author explores the realm of a true tragedy in this story
through the use of the Aristotle style of the elements of tragedy displayed by the means of Torchy's
series of unfortunate events through willing blindness, dramatized actions and pity developed for the
character throughout the novel. With a closer look one can identify Peripeteia among many elements
of tragedy found within this novel.

I have to keep it quiet but I can't stop" (Camp 5). This passage shows the mood in this scene and the
emotions that are filled in both Stephanie and Torchy through their actions, even though no words
were spoken between the two. It is therefore clear that the actions of Torchy's internal conflict,
convey a deeper message and atmosphere than mere dialogue.
After all that has happen to Torchy, the author's method of displaying of these events induces the
reader to feel sympathy and pity for Torchy. This can be seen when Stephanie and Torchy are talking
to one another and he indicates that the one person he has been looking for all this time was his late
brother. "You were calling for Sfen, Who's Sfen?" I look down. "My brother." "Where is he? Is that
who you were looking for?" "yeah," I wipe my sleeve across my eyes, "but he's gone" (Camp 5).
This passage shows how one feels pity towards Torchy when he indicates that he has not gotten over
the loss of his sibling. Which seems to be his only source of happiness as after the loss, his life
began spiraling downwards. Therefore it is evident that with the impact the loss of Sfen on Torchy
himself causes the reader to feel sympathy and pity for this tragic event.
In the short story, the author depicted tragedy through dramatized actions, willing blindness and pity
using the Aristotle style of the elements of tragedy. Alongside Torchy losing his beloved brother

misfortune of being lower class, particularly Johnny, who also deals with neglect at home. It is clear
from the beginning that Johnny is a lot smaller than the rest of the gang, indicating he might not get

The Birdcage Essay
In analyzing the style of Emmanuel Lubezki I found that his techniques adapts to the style/needs of
the director and the movie he works on. In the movie The Birdcage, he uses a long lens glamour
style whereas, in Children of Men he takes on his famous natural lighting style with a handheld
camera. What's unique about these two styles is that he manages to show that the subjects/actors are
the main focus and they standout and look amazing whether natural or artificial, he produces
natural–looking shots. Lubezki also uses techniques in camera to create the best shoot without
green–screens although, when used, the lighting holdes the image together and creates believable
moments.
Lubezki has two predominant styles of lighting the actors faces. One is called short lite, which is
when the shadow side of the subject's faces the camera (three fourths lighting style) and the other
style of lighting cuts right down the middle of the actors faces. We see this in A Series of

Lemony Snicket's 'A Series Of Unfortunate Events'
Lemony Snicket's "A Series of Unfortunate Events", is a film directed by Brad Silberling, that is
action packed, and with a plot that is rather... unfortunate.
The film begins with the Baudelaire children, Voilet (Emily Br owning), Klaus (Liam Aiken), and
Sunny (Kara Hoffman), being told that their parents had been killed in a fire that also destroyed their
mansion. A very depressing start to a very depressing film. As, the children have no close relatives
they are then transferred to their "beloved" Count Olaf. When they first are left with Count Olaf, it is
quite apparent that he doesn't care for the children at all, but only wants the huge fortune that he will
inherit if they are dead.
I personally found this film to be a very gloomy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the characters were moving for some reason, it really felts as though you were in the film
watching the events revolve around you. The special effects were also well executed, such as the
scene at Aunt Josephine's house where the house is dangling over the cliff. If is wasn't so ridiculous,
you might even believe it to be real!
Another great part of the film, was the sound/music. Dramatic music was used a lot, which made
sense considering it was a pretty dramatic film. However, in the parts of the film that aren't so
dramatic, the calm music is also very well used, and strongly reminds me of the Nemo soundtrack.
Brad Silberling, the director of the film, has done many other films other than this one. His most
famous include, "Casper" (1995), "City of Angels" (1998), and "Land of the Lost" (2009).
Something that all these films have in common, is that they all contain big stars, and are often either
a hit, or miss. An example of this, is "Land of the lost". It had a budget of 130 million Aud, and had
a box office of around 89 million Aud, not a great movie to say the least.
Overall, Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events, was an average film with good actors
and cinematography, that was let down by the down right depressing and unrealistic plot. I give this
movie 2 and a half, out of five

Analysis Of Daniel Handler's A Series Of Unfortunate Events
Most authors tend to write their books in a cheerful way. Daniel Handler, on the other hand, writes
in a gloomy style, showing the not–so–nice things that can happen to people. For example, the three
Baudelaire orphans in A Series of Unfortunate Events. Siblings who just lose their parents in a
deadly house fire and have to deal with the trouble known as Count Olaf, a villain after their
enormous inheritance. Handler wrote the 13 books in the series under the pseudonym Lemony
Snicket. A Series of Unfortunate Events is Handler's best–known work. In the last book of the series,
the three Baudelaires are in the middle of the ocean on a boat after leaving a burning hotel where
they worked undercover. Unfortunately, the children are accompanied by Count Olaf, the man after
their money. "And the Baudelaire fortune is finally mine!" Olaf cackled "Finally, I am a very
wealthy man, which means everybody must do what I say!" Was Olaf's reaction to their predicament
even though his statement is completely false. Snicket made Count Olaf the antagonist in the story, a
manipulative villain where in his mind money equals power. He lives in his own fairytale where he
is superior. To make the Baudelaires situation worse, a storm is added to the mix showing that the
kids can never get a break, pushing their intelligence and strength. The storm led the Baudelaires
and Olaf to an island of strange customs. "But the Baudelaires could not help but feel that they were

lives in Fort Washington, PA. She has a husband who works for the defense department and a 12–

Permian Mass Extinction Essay
The Permian mass extinction occurred 251Ma and is recognised as having the largest volcanic
eruption as one of the main antagonists to the event, it is also responsible for ~96% of all species to
be wiped out. The main theories for the Permian event are the Siberian traps and the possibility of an
impact event but the latter is widely disregarded.
Global disasters tend to be an unfortunate coincidence of events. The combination of the
background conditions in the late Permian of increasingly high atmospheric CO2 levels and global
temperatures could possibly of been enhanced by the eruption of the Emeishan Traps at 260 Ma
(REF NEEDED), which could have led to conditions that arguably could have led to a mass

When normalised to a common standard, these all lie within error of each other, and indicate an
eruption age of about ~250 Ma (REF NEEDED).
There are several questions that still need to be answered before a real understanding of the Permian
mass extinction can be documented; what were the atmospheric and oceanic conditions prior to the
eruption of the Traps? Can we better constrain the CO2 concentration of the late Permian
atmosphere? What made the end–Permian extinction so severe and prolonged?
Was it the confluence of events outlined in this review (including the prevailing global climate,
volcanism), or are some of these factors secondary? For example, we have little idea of the mass of
methane hydrates in the Late Permian ocean floor. These and many other questions will need to be
addressed before we fully resolve the cause of the end–Permian mass extinction. However, there is a
growing realisation that flood basalt volcanism has the potential to be the primary trigger for mass
extinctions, rather than meteorite impacts or other external

utmost coherence. The ideas that they present are in most instances reflective of the social and
economic scenarios that are apparent in their respective settings. Just like other renowned novelists,
Richard Hughes has explored various themes in his literary works. Among these are the aspects of

In this respect, Harold argues that the very capture by pirates is both physically and emotionally
tormenting (24). From a psychological point of view, persons who undergo such experiences tend to
suffer immense psychological problems. This is because their safety is always at stake. This can be
used to explain why they experience post–traumatic stress disorder after the experiences. In most
cases, they seek medical counseling services that enable them to appreciate their experiences and
live normal lives. Although the captain of the ship transporting wild animals tried to communicate

Young Fawn Application

  • 1. Young Fawn Application Like a freshly laid sheet of snow, the young fawn application begins with a coat of white. To create shade a black is overlaid, after powdering of course to secure the first layer. The shading is applied to the chin, surrounding the outer edges of the face, under the cheekbone leading to the nose, down the bridges of the nose and overtop the forehead. Like most fawns, a speckle of white youth is applied to the face in all places shading occurs but towards the middle of the face especially. A black is used on the nose, making the nose appear more flat and connecting with the cupid's bow towards the top lip which should also be shaded with the black. The prosthetics will be added overtop using liquid latex and spirit gum to allow for them to sit securely during the application. Unfortunately, due to a series of unfortunate events (an actual series of unfortunate events and not the book series, but 10/10 while ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As the tears of these sad being touched the ground they formed what appeared to be dew drops that carried with them a piece of the being. Forward to present time. As the young fawn slurped up the sad drop it began to change, the sky darkened and all seemed to flash at a million times per second. The young fawn's light white coat tinted black, the animal's form changing as it's cheekbones pushing past their original place. Disfigured, the young fawn made its way to a bush where it hid until darkness fell over the meadow. Soon after a red fire filled the animal's eyes and a sharpness possessed the features before two horns pushed through the temples of the animal. Now having to live with the new form the fawn cowered until the late hours of night. The darkness only works to intensify the colours of the fawn's eyes, turning from a green to a red as the night becomes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Analysis Of Lemony Snicket 's Series Of Unfortunate Events Reader Response I first read Lemony Snicket's 'Series of Unfortunate Events' when I was 10 years old. Having little patience, I planned to just skim through but found myself immediately immersed in the story and the writing style. The author uses clever techniques to appeal to both children and older readers, which allowed me to remain engaged with the text. Snicket warns that, "if you are interested in books with happy endings, you would be better off reading some other book." I found myself attracted to the gothic elements and darker nature of the text. I found it to be uniquely different to the traditional fairy tales with a cliché "happily ever after". A Series of Unfortunate Events has no typical "happily ever after," but the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As a child, I often felt frustrated that adults would not always take me seriously. I felt empowered by the idea that perhaps I too was capable of solving my own problems as a self–reliant and independent being. Snicket is a clever and humorous narrator. He assists the reader with more advanced words, explaining them in their given context. As a young reader, this was very educational and helpful and allowed me to further understand and enjoy the series. As an older reader, I came to realise that he did this in a comedic way. For example, Snicket writes, "It is now necessary for me to use the rather hackneyed phrase "meanwhile, back at the ranch." The word "hackneyed" here means "used by so, so many writers that by the time Lemony Snicket uses it, it is a tiresome cliché." Snicket also introduces children to important concepts and ideas. He notes, "your initial opinion of things may change over time," and "the children knew, as I'm sure you know, that the worst surroundings can be tolerated if the people in them are interesting and kind." He also addressed more serious issues, acting as a moral guide, but ensured these issues were not too overwhelming by maintaining a sense of humour. He writes, "stealing is not excusable if, for instance, you are in a museum and you decide that a certain painting would look better in your house... But if you were very very hungry, and you had no way of obtaining money, it might be excusable to grab the painting, take it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Netflix Movie And Book Comparison Paper Many authors have a specific audience in mind when they begin to create their work. This can be seen in many different websites on the same type of information. I chose to compare the websites http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4834206/ and http://www.lemonysnicket.com/. The first website is the IMDB information page for the new Netflix series A Series of Unfortunate Events and the second website is the official website of the book series of the same title. Both websites provide information on this book series. The primary audience of the IMDB website is professional critics. These critics have professional insight and review books, TV shows, and movies for a living. They are adults that have been hired to critique the new series. On the IMDB website, these critics can post their reviews of the new Netflix series and they can also rate the series. Their comments on the series will be reviewed by other people interested in watching the series. In contrast, the primary audience of www.lemonysnicket.com is the readers of the book. Due to the fact that this is the official website for the books, the readers and fans of the book series trust this website and would visit it. The fans are mostly in their teenage years or early twenties and they know the series by heart. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These viewers would visit IMDB to look up the ratings, reviews, and summary of the series to make the decision of whether or not they want to see the show. On the other hand, the secondary audience of lemonysnicket.com would be the actors of the Netflix original series. On this website, the actors can learn more about Lemony Snicket, the author of the book, and each of the 13 books in the series. They can also buy each book off of this website to read, which will help them to understand the story and its characters and to play their roles more ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Lemony Snicket's A Series Of Unfortunate Events: The Bad... A Series of Unfortunate Events: The Bad Beginning is a novel by Lemony Snicket. The novel is about Baudelaire children whose parents died in a fire and are left with a huge fortune. The children's first guardian, Count Olaf, is after the children's enormous fortune. Violet, eldest Baudelaire child, is a fourteen year old inventor. She contributes many ideas and thoughts to get her and her siblings out of trouble. For example, when Sunny, the youngest Baudelaire, was in a birdcage, Violet invented a grappling hook to try and climb up the rower to save her sister. She is also a quick thinker. For example, when Violet did not know what Count Olaf's plan was, Klaus researched and researched about law and justice. After he knew what Count Olaf's plan was, he confronted him. Klaus is also very confident and selfless. Sunny, the youngest Baudelaire, is an infant who likes to bite things. She has light brown hair and brown eyes. She is an intelligent girl, and can get out of any situation. Sunny is always getting caught in the crossfire of Violet, Klaus, and Count Olaf. For example, she was held hostage in a bird cage while Violet was supposed to marry Count Olaf. She is usually the victim in most cases. Count Olaf is a man that is trying to obtain the Baudelaire's fortune. He is a tall, grown man with one eyebrow, and a tattoo of an eye on his left ankle. He is a devious man, not caring about the children at all. Count Olaf usually creates crazy schemes and characters to get to the Baudelaires. • 5. George Saunders's Civilwarland In Bad Decline In the manner of A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket, George Saunders provides the readers of Civilwarland In Bad Decline with a bystander's view of miserable, disgruntled characters and their treacherous, rather unfortunate lots in life. His characters are deplorably miserable, overly guilt–ridden, and exploited, and yet they elicit a heart wrenching compassion. Readers are left sympathizing for the occasionally revolting characters, even empathizing with their burdens. Indeed, Saunders exhibits plenty of correlations between each of his story's characters, simultaneously creating a unifying quality to his stories and hinting at a greater theme. The stories within Civilwarland In Bad Decline are cut from the same cloth, and even ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Jeffrey's imprisonment was very literal, but also a reflection of the constricting forces acting on any soul that has been denied it's humanity. In The Academic Postmodern and the Rule of Literature, David Simpson declares that "humanity cannot be realized without the dignity of that the relevant person first being acknowledged". In prison, Jeffrey reflects on the visionary alternatives, saying "And I will emerge again from between the legs of my mother, a slighter and more beautiful baby, destined for a different life, in which I am masterful, sleek as a deer, a winner" (64). Clearly, because Jeffrey never experienced any form of human kindness or validation that might point towards the acknowledgement of his dignity, the essence of "winning" was never possible for him. His humanity was confined to a figurative cage while his body was constricted in a very literal one. Simpson is saying that had someone bothered to acknowledged Jeffrey's dignity, he would not have lost his sense of humanity and murdered his boss, resulting in his literally and metaphorically permanent imprisonment. Isabelle represents the ideal of what Simpson argues for. The main protagonist acknowledged her dignity by using her "pretty" name, and her humanity was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Race, Sexuality, Gender, And Ethnicity Throughout the second season of ABC's American Crime, there were an extreme amount of ways in which race, sexuality, gender, and ethnicity were depicted, troubled, and interrogated. While watching the second season of American Crime in class, it almost seemed as if the entire series was made just to explore each and every component of this course, Ethnics 1010. The series successfully explored through numerous situations with all of these important components that we have discussed throughout the semester. However, there happens to be three specific components that I would like to elaborate on throughout this essay. The first component that I would like to elaborate on is race. There are a lot of people throughout the series with a large amount of diversity as far as race goes. Secondly, I would like to discuss a few aspects in which class was a very critical component in the series. Class was extremely important because there are various people who are apart of a different class, or have a different socioeconomic status. My last component that I would like to elaborate on is sexuality. From the very beginning of the series, sexuality was an extremely critical topic. Sexuality seemed to be the base structure of this series simply because everything was based off of a key situation that occurred in the first episode, which revealed itself more and more as the series went on. As far as the topic of race goes, there are a great deal of ways in which race was critical ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Summary: The Miraculous Journey Of Edward Tulane As a child, I loved books. I loved the stories and brightly colored pictures. Most of the books I read left me smiling every time I read them. Now, just seeing the cover of a book I had read when I was young brings back fond memories. Even though I struggled with reading a bit growing up, I don't remember it hindering my appreciation for it. I remember being really excited when it was time for my mom to read to me every night before bed. I enjoyed Dr. Seuss, The Rainbow Fish, The Big Hungry Bear, Tikki Tikki Tembo, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, and many more (the list goes on and on). There were also several teachers I had that read to my classes on a daily basis. As I got into third and fourth grade, my teachers would start reading chapter ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first one is The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane by Kate DiCamillo. The reason I remember this book so clearly, is because this is one of the first books I read that made me really sad. It's heart wrenching and warming at the same time, which is a reason why I reread this several times. There was also a series of books that was pretty popular when I was in elementary school called A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket. I read the books with my older sister, but we both were not very impressed. It's literally just as the title says; a series of unfortunate events. The only thing that kept us reading more was the hope of a happy ending, but (spoiler alter) there isn't one. We were amazed that someone could write so much negativity and leave the reader feeling terrible. Another book I remember very clearly is Peppermints in the Parlor by Barbara Brooks Wallace and Peter Ferguson. This book was a big thing in my elementary school; it was a rite of passage in a way. Once we got to fourth grade, we knew we would be able to read it. They didn't have it in the library, and didn't allow anyone else younger than the fourth graders to read it. It was so fun and mysterious, which is one thing that really made me excited about ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Examples Of Imperfections In Hamlet Hamlet is one of the best–known plays by Shakespeare, but what embodies the main character, Hamlet, to be a tragic hero? This fictional character has many imperfections since the commencement of the play and leads to his unfortunate demise along with others who are adjacent to him. One of the imperfections is taking action, while the other imperfection is by acting instantly rather than celebrating exhaustively for a plausible plan. Hamlet's involution in events has been the catalyst of many suicides, including his own as he enacts his revenge for his biological father throughout the play. Over the scenes of the play, Hamlet would gradually notice his impuissance of character, which leads to the famous quotation from Shakespeare;"to be or not ... I went to preschool for two years, so I had an advantage when it came to reading. Once I'd gotten into elementary school, I excelled tremendously in that area. Sitting in my kindergarten class, I'd love to hear Mrs. Reed say, "Alright my shining stars get on the magic carpet for reading time." It was the highlight of my day, every day. Who would've known that something as simple as reading would be so beneficial to me later in life? Reading became one of my saving graces, as I got older. Life ,when you're in preschool, isn't that complicated. The most stressful thing that I had to deal with was whether I had enough crayons or if I could color inside of the lines. My mom died when I was about three. At that time, I could read, but they were always simple books. It wasn't until later, about age ten, that reading gave me hope. Once I was old enough to come to terms with what happened to my mom, I started to grieve. When you're young and something traumatic happens, it takes you a while to grieve. In addition to experiencing loneliness and feeling isolation from humans, Blanche faced many new challenges in stressful situations, which contributed to her poor decision making skills and inevitable negative outcomes in most of those situations. Through the characterization of Blanche DuBois, Williams' intends to display the power of significant experiences in one's life, which serves as a warning of how the effects of significant experiences on individuals should not be underestimated. Unfortunately, in Blanche's case, abandonment by her sister was the perfect example of an individual underestimating the result of their actions, as this action was the initiation point of the events that would eventually lead to her unfortunate fate. Everybody reads, but once they reach that final page, do they feel an indifference, or do they feel a personal connection? From early childhood to young adulthood, reading has always been a part of my life. Reading had always been important to me because as a child, I was very shy, and being an only child, I had a lot of time on my own, so I often turned to books to fuel my urge for adventure. Reading became personal to me at a very young age because I read as if I was living in the book myself. Ever since that point in my life, my joy of reading continued to flourish. The pages of my books grew thicker and thicker as I aged, and the genres broadened and the vocabulary matured. Literature has played a meaningful role in my life since the very beginning and helped shape me into the kind of person I am today, it has influenced my personality directly, and the close relationship I hold with literature. If we are going to be reflecting on the impact literature has had on me as a person, it would make the most logical sense to rewind all the way back to the earliest point of reading in my life. This passage shows the mood in this scene and the emotions that are filled in both Stephanie and Torchy through their actions, even though no words were spoken between the two. It is therefore clear that the actions of Torchy's internal conflict, convey a deeper message and atmosphere than mere dialogue. After all that has happen to Torchy, the author's method of displaying of these events induces the reader to feel sympathy and pity for Torchy. This can be seen when Stephanie and Torchy are talking to one another and he indicates that the one person he has been looking for all this time was his late brother. "You were calling for Sfen, Who's Sfen?" I look down. "My brother." "Where is he? Is that who you were looking for?" "yeah," I wipe my sleeve across my eyes, "but he's gone" (Camp 5). Lemony Snicket interrupts and says, "the story of the Baudelaires takes place in a very real world, where some people are laughing at just because they have something wrong with them, and where children can find themselves all alone in the world, struggling to understand the sinister mystery that surrounds them, and in this real world the arrival of lions means that the story is about to get much worse," (97). No matter how good the children are and no matter what they try to do to stop Count Olaf from ruining their lives, they can't stop the inevitable bad things that are happening to ... Lemony Snicket's 'A Series Of Unfortunate Events' Lemony Snicket's "A Series of Unfortunate Events", is a film directed by Brad Silberling, that is action packed, and with a plot that is rather... unfortunate. The film begins with the Baudelaire children, Voilet (Emily Br owning), Klaus (Liam Aiken), and Sunny (Kara Hoffman), being told that their parents had been killed in a fire that also destroyed their mansion. A very depressing start to a very depressing film. As, the children have no close relatives they are then transferred to their "beloved" Count Olaf. When they first are left with Count Olaf, it is quite apparent that he doesn't care for the children at all, but only wants the huge fortune that he will inherit if they are dead. I personally found this film to be a very gloomy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When the characters were moving for some reason, it really felts as though you were in the film watching the events revolve around you. The special effects were also well executed, such as the scene at Aunt Josephine's house where the house is dangling over the cliff. If is wasn't so ridiculous, you might even believe it to be real! Another great part of the film, was the sound/music. Dramatic music was used a lot, which made sense considering it was a pretty dramatic film. However, in the parts of the film that aren't so dramatic, the calm music is also very well used, and strongly reminds me of the Nemo soundtrack. Brad Silberling, the director of the film, has done many other films other than this one. His most famous include, "Casper" (1995), "City of Angels" (1998), and "Land of the Lost" (2009). Something that all these films have in common, is that they all contain big stars, and are often either a hit, or miss. An example of this, is "Land of the lost". It had a budget of 130 million Aud, and had a box office of around 89 million Aud, not a great movie to say the least. Overall, Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events, was an average film with good actors and cinematography, that was let down by the down right depressing and unrealistic plot. I give this movie 2 and a half, out of five ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 32. Analysis Of Daniel Handler's A Series Of Unfortunate Events Most authors tend to write their books in a cheerful way. Daniel Handler, on the other hand, writes in a gloomy style, showing the not–so–nice things that can happen to people. For example, the three Baudelaire orphans in A Series of Unfortunate Events. Siblings who just lose their parents in a deadly house fire and have to deal with the trouble known as Count Olaf, a villain after their enormous inheritance. Handler wrote the 13 books in the series under the pseudonym Lemony Snicket. A Series of Unfortunate Events is Handler's best–known work. In the last book of the series, the three Baudelaires are in the middle of the ocean on a boat after leaving a burning hotel where they worked undercover. Unfortunately, the children are accompanied by Count Olaf, the man after their money. "And the Baudelaire fortune is finally mine!" Olaf cackled "Finally, I am a very wealthy man, which means everybody must do what I say!" Was Olaf's reaction to their predicament even though his statement is completely false. Snicket made Count Olaf the antagonist in the story, a manipulative villain where in his mind money equals power. He lives in his own fairytale where he is superior. To make the Baudelaires situation worse, a storm is added to the mix showing that the kids can never get a break, pushing their intelligence and strength. The storm led the Baudelaires and Olaf to an island of strange customs. "But the Baudelaires could not help but feel that they were abandoning their previous ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 38. Permian Mass Extinction Essay The Permian mass extinction occurred 251Ma and is recognised as having the largest volcanic eruption as one of the main antagonists to the event, it is also responsible for ~96% of all species to be wiped out. The main theories for the Permian event are the Siberian traps and the possibility of an impact event but the latter is widely disregarded. Global disasters tend to be an unfortunate coincidence of events. The combination of the background conditions in the late Permian of increasingly high atmospheric CO2 levels and global temperatures could possibly of been enhanced by the eruption of the Emeishan Traps at 260 Ma (REF NEEDED), which could have led to conditions that arguably could have led to a mass extinction without any further ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When normalised to a common standard, these all lie within error of each other, and indicate an eruption age of about ~250 Ma (REF NEEDED). There are several questions that still need to be answered before a real understanding of the Permian mass extinction can be documented; what were the atmospheric and oceanic conditions prior to the eruption of the Traps? Can we better constrain the CO2 concentration of the late Permian atmosphere? What made the end–Permian extinction so severe and prolonged? Was it the confluence of events outlined in this review (including the prevailing global climate, volcanism), or are some of these factors secondary? For example, we have little idea of the mass of methane hydrates in the Late Permian ocean floor. These and many other questions will need to be addressed before we fully resolve the cause of the end–Permian mass extinction. However, there is a growing realisation that flood basalt volcanism has the potential to be the primary trigger for mass extinctions, rather than meteorite impacts or other external ...
