In regard to language, indigenous–language politics dictate that an indigenous population should
have the capacity to speak an indigenous language. Due to decades of discrimination based on
cultural and linguistic differences, the Cucapá were forced to assimilate into Mexican culture and
learn to speak Spanish. Historically, the Cucapá have been significantly disadvantaged because of
their lack of fluency in Spanish, which has caused them to struggle for resources and rights. Now
their lack of fluency in their indigenous language has been undermining their current legal claims.
During a talk with one of the Cucapá ex–fishermen, Cruz, Muehlmann learned that he had feared
punishment in school if he ever spoke his indigenous language. Muehlmann saw this as a betrayal
by the Mexican government. How could they require the same practices from the Cucapá that they
had discouraged for so many years? When she expressed these feelings, he responded, "Yeah, well.

seen by the community as active speakers of Cucapá indigenous language and they were all over the

because many of the people I work with and many of my friends identify with the Hispanic culture
and I feel it would be interesting to know more about a culture that is so relevant to my life. A few
of the big things in Hispanic culture that I found interesting are language, traditions and food.
Hispanic refers to a person of Cuban, Mexican, Puerto Rican, South or Central American, or other
Spanish culture. Language is a very important part of culture. It's the method of communication
between people, it's a comforting feeling to hear your own language, and it defines who you are as a

On November 8, 1519, Spanish leader, Hernan Cortes landed in modern day Mexico, bringing along
six hundred Spaniards and a lot of native allies. The Aztecs, who were natives in Mexico, welcomed
Cortez with opened arms because they believed he was one of their gods, Quetzalcoatl. From the
beginning, they were willing to share their land and wealth with the Spaniards but they Spaniards
did not want to share this land and began to continue with their plan to conquer the land.
Throughout this two–year campaign where the Spanish and Aztecs were fighting for ownership of
the land, and after thousands of people killed, the Spanish conquered the land, seizing the existence
of the Aztec Empire. This cultural encounter changed the lives of both the Aztec and Spaniards
greatly by the change in language, religion, and the benefits this take–over had on the Spanish
Empire. Once central Mexico was taken over by the Spaniards, the use of the Aztec language,
Nahuatl, was quickly put to an end. The Spaniards saw that the two different languages kept a
separation between the two cultures and decided to force everyone under the Spanish rule to speak

I am writing to you in regards to the recruitment of staffs to suit the managerial position for the new
plant created in Sonora, Mexico.
This memo will be proposing the criteria under which the potential transferees will be selected and
also a three months training program will be administered by eligible trainers in each of the
identified areas of selection in order to achieve the overall objectives and goals of the organization.

Mexico : A Unified Spanish Language As A Universal Form Of...
Mexico has a long history that goes back as far as the 11th millennium B.C which was over 10,000
years before the Spanish intruded. Across the land, Meso–America was inhabited by various
indigenous groups with over 14 languages been spoken and some of them ae still being spoken such
as the Zapotec and the Nawan and Purepecha. Aside from the civilized curriculums that Meso–
America developed then exploited by Europeans, Mexico today inherits some of its culture such as
the association of indigenous groups with agriculture, combining its diverse traditions with factors
of a developed civilization such as a unified Spanish language as a universal form of
communication. If we analyze of who look like a typical Mexican, it's people have diverse physical
features as if they belong from continents around the world. In fact, Mexican peoples are a
composition of various races. The Mestizos in one hand are Indigenous–Spanish, Mulatto's, on the
other hand, are Indigenous–African descends. Therefore, the typical Mexican of the 21st century is
the person who combines historic roots with today's globalized norms. In this paper, I will
summarize certain events of what I learned about the de–Indianization attempts, the idea of the
Cosmic race and the urbanization tragedies that unifies Mexican in the 21st century after the
revolution based on Bonfill Batalla's Mexico's profound and my CHS 345 class.
