Winn Dixie Book Report
This story is mostly about a ten year old girl named Opal. she wants friends because she is new in Naomi, Florida. She also wants her mama, who left
her when Opal was only 3 years old. In the book, Opal learned that she can't hold onto something that wants to go.
It all started when Opal went to the grocery store and rescued Winn–Dixie. She saw that a stray dog was running around the store, and Opal claimed
that the dog was hers so it wouldn't go to the pound. Opal took the dog home and tried to convince her father (the preacher), to let her keep Winn–Dixie.
Since her father is a preacher and helps less fortunates, he let Winn–Dixie stay. Winn–Dixie helped Opal with a lot of problems that she's having
because she is new in Naomi.
Throughout the summer, Winn–Dixie helps Opal make a lot of friends. For example, Ms. Franny, the librarian, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

When everyone finally arrived, it started pouring, so everyone went into Gloria's house. Opal realizes that Winn–Dixie is missing, so she ran out of the
house. But then, Gloria Dump calls her back to the house and tells her, "There ain't no way you can hold on to something that wants to go, you
understand? You can only love what you got whileyou got it." After Gloria said that to Opal, she ran off with the preacher to look for Winn–Dixie.
They called his name over and over again, but they couldn't find him. This reminded Opal of her mama, so she asked the preacher if her mama will
ever come back. The preacher said he doesn't think that she'll ever come back. The preacher and Opal walked back to Gloria's house and come inside.
Opal tells everyone that she and the preacher couldn't find Winn–Dixie but then Gloria said... that they found Winn–Dixie! Winn–Dixie had been under
the bed the whole time! Finally, Winn–Dixie woke up, and everyone started singing song while Otis played his

Personal Narrative-Home Analysis
This week I got to take a trip to Gates Estate with Heather so that she could take a lesson with her trainer friend JJ Lavieri. At UNH I have learned
to always dress professionally because you never know who you are going to meet and second people will take you more seriously when you
dress professionally because you look like you know what you are doing. The night before this trip I set out my nice tan breaches, my UNH
equestrian polo, and my tall boots. That morning I arrived to work a little early so that I could get the horse Deelite ready to goon the trailer. Heather
had asked me to do standing wraps instead of shipping boots since it was only a short smooth trailer ride. Yet again keeping in mind that appearance is

Analysis Of ' A Coward 's Bravery '
A Coward's Bravery
How much do you have to sacrifice to be a hero? Rachel Bublitz My Body is a one act futuristic play in which a man, Patrick, applies to the
government to have a collar that controls his body removed. In a ploy to regain his self–respect and right to his body, Patrick is faced with a moral
dilemma. Arthur Miller's "Tragedy and the Common Man" claims that tragedy is felt by readers when a character is willing to risk it all by "laying
down his life" (267) in order to obtain their rightful position. While Patrick does argue for his right to his body, when he is faced with the possibility
of "permanent methods of containment" (Bublitz 331) he ends his fight to reclaim his dignity. Is Patrick still considered a tragic hero even though his
bravery was limited? According to Miller's theory he would not be, however his character allows the audience to reflect on their own coward bravery
while he highlights the injustice within the world of the play and reality.
Patrick's character development throughout the play is a reflection of his degrading environment in a society that is hostile to men. As a result,
Patrick goes through states of submissiveness and frustration qualifying him as a hero. According to Elinor Fuchs "Visit to a Small Planet: Some
Questions to Ask a Play", the social world of a play constructs not only the story it tells, but the characters it hosts. In My Body, it is revealed that the
world Patrick lives in oppresses men. Until they are married

Essay About Training For Dogs
Start Leash Training for Dogs With These Tips
Some people would think that dogs innately know how to behave when they are leashed. Unfortunately, this is one of the many struggles of some dog
owners. Although there are breeds that can easily just surrender themselves to be leashed, some breeds may just want to have their freedom. However,
there will always come a time that your dog needs to be on a leash, particularly when you want to go outdoors and make sure that your four–legged
body would not be accidentally hit by a car or just get lost from too much curiosity of the environment.
Training your dog to walk on a leash may not be as easy, despite being so gentle with your pet. Here are a few tips that can help you train your dogs to

A bolt snap clip has a small spring inside a shaft that slides open to create a hole to let the collar ring pass through. This is more commonly used,
however, after using the clip for a long time can result in loosing of the spring which can let your dog escape. A trigger snap clip, on the other hand,
is bigger and more robust. Therefore, between the two clips, the trigger snap clip is more reliable.
Steps on How to Train Your Dog with a Leash
It is best to start leash training while your dog is just a few months old. This way, puppies are much easier to train.
1.Once you have chosen the right leash, take your time in training your dog. Get your dog familiar having a collar around its neck. Never try to force
it on the dog in situations where your dog is fearful or having tantrums. You can slip it on while your dog is busy playing. Make sure that the collar is
snug enough, but not too tight that could make your dog uncomfortable.
In time, your dog will feel comfortable having the collar and leash on him.
2.If your dog scratches on the collar, it may mean that he is getting uncomfortable. This is normal. Instead of taking it out, make him busy by playing
with him so he forgets about having to scratch the collar.
3.Let your dog run around with the leash on his collar. This will slowly make him comfortable and would easily associate having the leash during his
playtime. So, the next time he sees you holding the leash, instead of

Marriage of Catholic Priests Essay
The Catholic Church, being nearly 2,000 years old, still follows many of the same rules and guidelines established in the early church. One item that
many Catholics are surprised to learn is that the tradition of priests and other clergy members remaining celibate has not always been present in the
church. There are many Catholics, in and out of the clergy, who believe that priests should have the ability to get married and raise a family. In fact,
priestly celibacy is not a church law, but, as Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone says it is a "positive tradition," and not "untouchable"
(France–Pressez). However, some critics of the practice would argue that celibacy is not a positive tradition, and that in fact it is... Show more content

It seems like a simple decision for the church to make: Make celibacy optional, recruit much–needed new priests. A few of the branches of theCatholic
Church in Eastern Europe allow their priests to be married. The Vatican allows the marriages to keep church members from converting to Orthodox
Christianity, the dominant religion in that part of the world. A recent article in The New York Times profiles Reverend Yuriy Volovetskiy, the
priest at a
Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church. Volovetskiy is married and has six children. He says that being married helps him better relate to his
parishioners. He says having children has helped him become a part of society. It is easier for him to explain things to his parish if he has actually
lived through them. Volovetskiy also says that celibacy is unnatural, and that no one can escape from having a sexual life (Levy). Many priests, after
taking the vow of celibacy, discover that they can't suppress their sexual feelings towards others. Many priests have secret relationships that they hide
from their parish. Good Tidings is an organization set up by a woman and her husband, a former Catholic priest, to help priests who have fallen in
love to decide whether to leave the priesthood. The organization has been contacted by almost 2000 women who were sexually involved

A Tale of Sin and Atonement Essay
The Beautiful Vampire– A tale of sin and atonement?
In Theophile Gautier's The Beautiful Vampire, he is very subtle in presenting the sins committed. Although all of the characters in this story commit
various sins, the sins of Romuald are the sins primarily focused on. This sinning of Romauld is very unique in that he is a ordained priest who should be
one of the last people to commit these sins. It is this reason that makes the story what it is and draws the readers in initially.
The first sin that the reader witnesses is during Romauld's ordainment ceremony. Instead of keeping his head bowed, as one should during prayer, he
raises his head and spots the beautiful Clarimonde (Gautier 231). If Romauld would have stayed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Romauld's temptation into evil is very much like that of the temptation of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. He does not realize that it is actually
evil enticing him just as eve did not realize that the serpent was an evil being.
Romauld's lusting for Clarimonde becomes more evident when he is taken to be with her dead body (244). This lusting over a dead body is very
disturbing to many readers for two different reasons. The first of these reasons is the fact that a celibate priest is having these sexual attractions
towards a woman. A priest, one of the holiest men of God should be able to control his ungodly desires if anyone can. The second reason for this
disturbance is the face that he is lusting over the body of a dead woman. Although we find out later that she has been dead all along, not just in her
chamber, the idea of necrophilia is a very disturbing concept to most people.
After she is found not to be dead, Romauld continuously wonders what would have happened if he was not a priest. Would they be lovers? Would
they be married? Or would they even be together at all? This questioning of his life's choices is very similar his previous thoughts of renouncing God
and these thoughts appear to continue to arise throughout the story which makes the reader wonder if this many is even holy at all. Later in the story,
Romauld mentions how he is able to

Jim Daniels' Poetry
Jim Daniels' Poetry Jim Daniels may not write poetry as eloquently as one would expect, but his style matches the subject matter he writes about
perfectly. Indeed, it is this unrefined colloquial style, which allows Mr. Daniels to capture the essence of working class Detroit and relay it to the
reader. His words may be somewhat coarse and he does not hesitate to use profanity, but one is still able to find beauty in his writing. The same can
be said about the working class society, in which Jim Daniels was born and raised. At first glance, the Blue–Collar landscape of Detroit Michigan, with
its dilapidated factories and toxin belching smokestacks, may seem coarse and profane. Yet, when one looks closer it is not hard to find beauty... Show

Throughout his poems, Mr. Daniels illustrates one of the most beautiful aspects of Blue–Collar society. This is the sense of camaraderie between
members of the working–class: the "us against the world" attitude. In "My Grandfather's Tools" he writes, "...showing the engineers how things
really worked." (3). There is an air of disdain for management in this sentence, which serves as a bond between working men. The very title of his
poem, "For People Who Can't Open Their Hoods" (66), infers a total lack of respect for people who have never done physical labor or are not
mechanically inclined. This universal lack of respect for those who have not engaged in manual labor serves as a bond between those who have.
Anyone who has ever worked in a factory, plant, or on a construction jobsite is aware of the fact that this attitude is prevalent amongst the working
class. In plants and factories, engineers and foremen are hated and on construction jobsites, architects and superintendents are despised. The basis for
this attitude is more than just economics; it is a mixture of economics and machismo. Engineers, architects, managers, and inspectors do not do the hard
physical work; in fact, they do not actually produce anything, yet they usually earn more money and definitely more respect than those who do. They
draw up the plans and designs, but they do not implement them. The

The Mountain Man Brewery Company
Mountain Man Brewery Company was founded by the now retired President and owners Oscar Prangel, in 1925. Oscar formulated an old family
recipe with flavorful hops and barley that developed to become what is now known as West Virginia's beer. Time had progressed and Mountain Man
Brewery had become a thriving business and a common beer of choice amongst the working class men beer drinkers. In the 1960's Mountain Man
Brewery had established a well–respected brand throughout the Central Regions, beginning with West Virginia, and expanding to Illinois, Indiana,
Ohio, and Michigan. By 2005, Mountain Man Brewery Company had made profitable footprints with financial revenue of $50 million dollars and
sells of over 520,000 barrels of its unique family beer. As time had progressed on, new trends of beer drinkers transitioned a decline in sells
performance for the first time ever in Mountain Man Brewery Company. The decline revealed a weakness within the company that only bought forth
fear of the unknown future of the company's product and brand. Oscar had recently hired the next generation on MMBC his son Chris to manage the
marketing operations. Chris had presented to his father the possible expansion of introducing a new beverage of choice for the upcoming beer
drinkers. Recent research amongst beer drinker's uncovered potential growth for MMBC and the fear of eroding the historical brand of loyalty. Chris

Blue Collar Brilliance, By The Belgian Constitutional Court
Blue Collar Brilliance According to Eurofound, "In 1993, the Belgian Constitutional Court ruled that the employment status of blue–collar and
white–collar workers was discriminatory, due to discrepancies in working conditions and entitlements." In the twentieth century, a status was
created between two kinds of workers: white collar and blue collar. An individual's level of education doesn't always determine exactly how smart
one truly is. An individual's level of education does not determine how smart a person is because not every job requires a college degree and not
everyone can perform a blue collar or white collar job. WHAT DO YOU THINK??? In late 2007, an ongoing financial crisis occurred with many
calling it the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression in the 1930s. Many people were left unemployed through 2007 to 2009. By late 2009,
the market began to look better for many citizens. Mike Rose is an American education scholar, studied literacy and the struggles of working– class
America in 2009. Those who still had their job were battling against the recession as well. On top of the struggle of unemployment, the average
income for a year averaged about $39,423.00 according to The People History. Rose is currently a Research Professor of Social Research
Methodology in the UCLA Graduate School of Education and Information Studies. Mike Rose, author of "Blue– Collar Brilliance", emphasizes that

Short Story : A Story
It's the year 125 T.E., and it was a pleasant day in the small town of Rieux, France. The sun was shining behind scattered clouds, as they slowly
drifted across the bright blue sky. As Riya made her way down the busy streets of the Rieux market district, she couldn't help but notice the inquisitive
looks the shop owners and customers gave her. Though she was used to people staring at her shiny metal appendages, it always made her feel very
self–conscious. She averted her eyes to the ground as she pulled the sleeves of her ebony black hoodie down over her forearms, and shoved her
metal hands into the pockets of her dark wash jeans. After turning down an alley way, she made her way across the street to her apartment which
was above her mother's small cafГ©. Riya stepped into the cafГ© and was immediately hit with the scent of coffee and blueberry muffins, along
with the quiet chatter of the customers. As she entered the kitchen in the back of the cafГ©, she was greeted by her mother with a big hug. "Riya,
welcome home darling, how was school?" her mother asked with a warm smile. "Eh, you know, the usual." Riya responded flatly. Her mother gave
her a sympathetic look. "You know if those kids tried getting to know you, they'd be able to see past you being a cyborg." She said in a frustrated
tone. "You and I both know how society feels about cyborgs mom, nothing will change their minds." Riya replied dryly as she grabbed an apron and

The Significance Of White Collar Crime, And White Collar...
When we hear the word 'crime,' we automatically assume that it involves criminal or civil crimes. These crimes usually involve people in robberies,
murders, or even injuries. However, there are also crimes that are committed by a company or a business. Business crimes or white collar crimes are
crimes committed by a businesses or government professional. These crimes are often committed using confidential information attained by an
individual to commit fraud. There are diverse types of white collar crimes, including tax fraud, telemarketing fraud, and insider trading. White collar
crime was first introduced by Edwin Sutherland in a presidential address to the American Sociological Society in 1939. During this address, he
discussed the importance of these crimes and why they should be considered crimes (Shover 133). The reason that these crimes are often overlooked
or not discussed are because of the difference in backgrounds and characteristics of the parties involved. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) was
established to carry out duties to the Secretary of Treasury. Under Code Sec 7801, the Secretary of Treasury reserves the right to establish any
agency to help enforce revenue laws (Rettig 59). Thus, the IRS Criminal Investigation Unit was created on July 1, 1919, for the sole purpose of
investigating claims of tax fraud (The History of IRS Criminal Investigation (CI)). Tax fraud is one type of white collar crime, which occurs when a

Celibacy in the Ministry of the Catholic Church
Introduction
The church has a large influence over the people, from the ancient times up until our modern age. The church, as we know it, is composed of various
members who all contribute to fulfill a holy calling, and one of its constituents, who work closely with the public, are the priests. They make up the
embodiment of the Catholic Church, their very existence is what makes the church operate as it is, meaning that they have an essential role to the
Catholic system. With this in mind, priests represent the very image of the church so issues associated with the priests are also identified in relation to
the church. As of now, there have already been various matters concerning the conduct of priests instigated by society. One of these said issues are
Celibacy is the act of abstinence from marriage implicitly or explicitly made, for a more immaculate devotion to chastity, by all those who are a
member of the Holy Order. Priestly celibacy has been observed by the Church for centuries with a high recognition, and retains its value undiminished
even in our time when the outlook of men and the state of the world have undergone such profound changes. Amid the modern stirrings of opinion, a
predisposition has been expressed, to ask the Church to reconsider this specific convention. It is said that in the world of our time the observance of
celibacy has come to be difficult or even impossible. Necessity
One of the main reasons why it is necessary is because everyone is

Analysis Of `` Blue Collar Brilliance `` By Gerald Graff
Equivalence of Intelligence Academic work should not define intelligence nor should a job define ability; a person, regardless of grades, degrees, or
job title, is an intellect. Together, Gerald Graff, a coauthor of They Say I say, professor, and former anti
–intellect, author of "Hidden Intellectualism,"
and Mike Rose, professor, author, and in depth thinker, author of "Blue–Collar Brilliance," share two different perspectives on what an intellect truly is.
Yet, both writings hold meaningful points and experiences to prove who qualifies to be an intellect. Society continuously focuses on what leads to
a successful and rounded life: go to school, graduate, go back to school, get a degree, and then a job. It is believed that these high expectations of
higher academics enables one to be more successful is correct; however, it is not. It is a person's individual goals that give them the success they
wish to have whether that be education, volunteering, or donating. Also, street smarts is not to be overlooked; a person with common sense can
know more than a Doctor. Typically, a person can have either common sense or intelligence, not both. Street smarts is, without a doubt, a superior
quality to possess as it encompasses more in life than just a degree does. For example, it is more appropriate to know how to cross a street properly in
life than know how to perform a craniotomy. Furthermore, one does not gain knowledge and life lessons through school alone, but through experience,

People Like Us, Social Class
People like Us, Social Class in America Last class we watched an informative documentary named "People like Us, Social Class in America".
America is known to be a country defined by class. Throughout the movie it showed different opinions on what class was based on by different
people and the answers varied from looks, house size, career choice, race, manners, upbringing, and education. As we move through life, most
times we remove ourselves from different people not in our class to then live amongst those who share similar backgrounds and who we are most
comfortable with. As stated, "if there is class, there is an inequality one cannot explain and it perpetuates itself". Revealing class can expose hope,
fears, prejudice and a myriad of different emotions that we may not all be comfortable speaking about. I feel as if part two and part three were most
applicable to myself because they are something that I have experienced both directly and indirectly. Part two of the documentary which was labeled
as "High and Low" struck out to me the most. This part brought up issues that we can all for the most part say we have at least saw in our daily lives.
This section also brought up some of the many struggles that African–Americans have to deal with every day. For example, two women brought up the
point that the label "Bourgeois" is a constant problem within black America. If a black person works hard to make a lot of money, get a good
education and become successful, the black

History Of Insider Trading Incident Of The Berkshire...
Introduction Insider trading is a very serious crime that occurs when information is shared about future decisions to get financial gain and then act
upon it. Information of this caliber should be public knowledge so that everyone has an equal opportunity to make their investment decisions. An
analogy would be if someone gained the answers to the final test and used them while everyone else has an unfair disadvantage. A rather large insider
trading incident occurred with Raj Rajaratnam and Rajat Gupta. Gupta told Rajaratnam about a deal going on for preferred stock purchase for Goldman
Sachs by the Berkshire Hathaway company. The information was given before any public announcement about the deal was made. This inside tip
allowed Rajaratnam time to buy preferred stocks from Goldman Sachs and make a hefty profit from the information given to him. Rajaratnam and
Gupta were eventually caught by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The FBI had been recording their conversations over the telephone which were
wiretapped. Rajaratnam and Gupta were both found guilty and received prison sentences. The dynamic duo were also required to pay a fine and as
expected, both tried to appeal the court 's decision. This is a prime example of a white collar crime versus being a street crime; no physical violence was
used to commit the crime. Another way to differentiate a white collar crime is that both Rajaratnam and Gupta had successful careers on wall street,
and both ended up

Helen Fisher Involuntary Celibacy
Celibacy is the state of voluntarily abstaining from sex or marriage. Involuntary celibacy is someone who desires a romantic or sexual partner, but is
unable to find someone willing to be with them. It is not everyday that you hear the term "involuntary celibacy"; however, it is a term that haunts a
small community of people a majority of them being men. People in this community tend to refer to themselves as "Incels". Many in this community
view women as the cause of their celibacy. Involuntary celibacy stems from impatience and hatred towards women by young men. The incel

because young girls are married off quickly to men they may never live with. Additionally, during the biblical times celibacy was forced upon the

my bag, my hair had started to harden, it felt like I had a pile of crap on top of my head. I stepped into the aisle just to be shoved into another row
of seats. My face hit the side of the bus, I felt blood dripping on my face. I make a quick move to cover the blood. People thought I was weird
enough, I didn't need unexplained bloody noses' on the bus, to add to the odd things about me.
"Make way freak! Me and my lady are coming through!" I looked and saw Brad, Alice's boyfriend, doing a small bow to seem classy. When he bowed,

"Don't cry, I'll grab it," I said as I let go of Alice's hand. I lowered myself onto the ground grabbed the crayon. When I tried to get back up I hit my
head on the table. I fell back onto the ground, my head had already been throbbing in pain, but I couldn't remember why.
Then in less than half a second I was in the ER. Alice was standing over me fear in her eyes, I look around and see blake isn't here. I also notice that
I am hooked up to an IV tube. Seems like a bit much for hitting your head on a table in a restaurant, I thought to myself. I see a tray with a bloody

The first thing that pops out in the room is the crinkled up wrappers, scattered around the room everywhere, some torn up and in the trash. There
were even some wrappers that were still brand new, some on tubs and bottles, and some of them unfinished and uncolored. These wrappers had all
different colors and designs, but they all read, "Ez Energy." All of the wrappers were very glossy but also smooth, you could hear the crinkle noise
when you felt the wrappers. In the room there were at least over different 100 wrappers, but none of them perfect in the eyes of a perfectionist. These
wrappers were just the start of the items in the large office room. One of the most noticeable things in the room were just two simple words, "Ez

seeing those two words. The words were on everything that was possible to think of, large banners on the wall reading, "Ez Energy", brand new
glossy stickers with those two words on them, even oversized t–shirts and hoodies with embroidered words on them which say, "Ez Energy." In this
room there were even logos with those two words on them, everywhere plastered throughout the whole room. Those words were the name of a failing

Effects Of Robots In The Workplace
Robots and Jobs The debate over whether robots are helping or hurting the workplace is more heated than ever. Advances in technology are soaring
thus making an increase in the use of robots in the workplace more and more commonplace. Some believe the use of robots in the workplace can
never totally result in the loss of jobs, but due to the fact that robots have invaded the workplace environment, many people fear this indicates
replacement of human jobs. Although advancement in technology of robotics and artificial intelligence may offer precision, productivity, efficiency
and flexibility, the loss of human jobs will be devastating to the many people who depend on their jobs to make a living and provide for their
families. Even as far back as the Industrial Revolution of the 1700's, technology has altered the essence of the workplace and has taken away jobs
within the system (Rotman). Since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution, economists have speculated what impact the advancement in
technology would have on the human labor workforce. One economist, John Maynard Keyes predicted that technology would lead to the loss of
jobs and several decades later, another noted economist Wasilly Leontief forecasted the relevance of labor would no longer be a factor (Fitzgerald).
Research has shown that in the year 1900, 41 percent of the American population worked in agriculture compared to only 2 percent in the year 2000
(Rotman). This drop in the workforce is due to the

Essay on Collective Bargaining in the Workplace
David Brody argues that the rise of contractual or collective bargaining relationships during the post WWII era formalized the relationship between
employers and unions. The use of collective bargaining agreements to resolve workplace disputes weakened unions and the power of workers. Other
actions, such as using collection bargaining as a form of substitution for direct action and using it instead of the strike for grievance and arbitration
procedure served , also has weakened the unions and the power of workers. The rise of contractual or collective bargaining relationships changed the
dynamic of the workplace, shifting the power from the union side to towards the employers. The perspective could best be argued suing Weber's theory

C. Wright Mills defines the meaning of work for white–collar workers. Awhite–collar worker is an educated person who performs non–manual,
professional, managerial, or administrative work. He states " White Collar stands, after sixty years, as the most comprehensive work that American
social science has produced in the study of the new middle class. " classifying white collar workers as the new middle class full of intellectuals in
intermediate positions, to what he describes as the "enormous file" of clerical labor. C. Wright Mills connects the meaning of work for white–collar
workers to the types of leisure activity they pursue. Modern white–collar workers attach an extrinsic value to their wage work because they work to live.
Jobs have lost their intrinsic value due to the emptiness that comes with the job. For example, white collar workers are subjected to manipulations and
control of their superiors thus in return; they lose their creativity and freedom of action.
White–collar workers are a different breed of workers. The results derived from work that modern white collar workers value includes status, power
and wages. At times, these white collar jobs hold no true meaning to white collar workers rather it the monetary value that drives productivity. This
money is means to a different life outside of work.

The Catholic Church
Introduction The Catholic Church is unique in comparison to Protestant branches of Christianity because of the tradition, formality, and leadership.
Leaders in the Catholic church such as Priests, Nuns, Bishops and Popes vow to remain celibate and follow a marriage with God and the Church rather
than a spouse. It is interesting to discover whether celibacy has any impact on one's psychosexual development and on an individual's efficiency as a
church leader.
Description and origin of celibacy
Celibacy can be defined as "popularly understood, is the state of non–marriage and/or the abstinence from sexual activity. The voluntary sacrifice of all

107). The reason that celibacy is viewed as being a gift is because it is designed to be a positive rectification for priesthood and is a symbol of the
growth and vision that the Kingdom of God will soon come and be one with our world (Nwaigbo, 2003, p. 108). According to Catholicism, human
sexuality is primarily used as a means of procreation and is able to be reach its ultimate growth within a marriage (McGavin, 2011, p. 3). Thus,
choosing a celibate lifestyle can be seen as fulfilling a religious calling in a vocational sense. chosen and stable celibacy is spoken of in "vocational"
terms, as answering a religious calling (McGavin, 2011, p. 3). Celibacy can be seen as a consummation of the religious sacrament of marriage
because it redirects sexuality to a religious purpose and embodies a healthy lifestyle for the culture and management of the body (McGavin, 2011, p. 3).
Psycho–sexual Description of Celibacy
The article written by Paul McGavin (2011) goes into detail about the scriptural belief behind this practice and the human need for sexual expression.
Among these issues, masturbation is also explained from a religious standpoint. "It is clear from the general literature that psycho–sexual dysfunction
and sexually abusive behavior is more prevalent among men than among women. These general observations are also reproduced in the Church, and

White Collar Crime : An Definition Of Occupational...
David O. Friedrichs provided more accurate definition of occupational deviance because the term seems to be applied to activities drifted away from
the original meaning of White Collar crime. It's blended with the term conventional crime. Edwin Sutherland introduced the concept of white–collar
crime in 1939. There were conceptual confusions with the term occupational crime, occupational deviance, and workplace crime because these terms
are combined with white–collar crime. Friedrichs (2002) defined occupational deviances as "characterized as activity undertaken for one's own gain,
or to cope with workplace stress, and not for the benefit of one's employer or organization" (p.249).
Quinney (1964), "Because the validity of white collar crime as a form of crime has been a subject of severe controversy, the question of conceptual
clarity has largely been ignored. Today, as a result, the meaning of the concept is not always clear" (p208).
Friedrichs' used Gary Green's theory to explain white–collar crime. Green described occupational crime into four types; Organizational Occupational
Crime, State Authority Occupational Crime, Professional Occupational Crime, and Individual Occupational Crime. Organizational Occupational Crime
is comparable to corporate crimes. Using legitimate employment in an organization as an opportunity for crime. The crime is usually environmental
pollution because it involved with the corporate personnel with different levels of implementation to have

American Dream: It is a well–known fact that the term "American Dream" first mentioned by James Trusslow Adams in 1931 (Wright 197) explains
the model of an individual's ideal existence, which is applied exclusively to the US – the country full of freedoms, possibilities, and opportunities.
Nowadays the fame about the American dream reached all continents, and more and more people take the concept for granted dreaming about
moving to America and spending the rest of their lives in a more favourable environment compared to their own. As many US citizens, they usually

Let me now refer this experience to the concept of American dream. A strong contributor to the development of societal norms in America is Barbara
Ehrenreich, a contemporary American writer who aims at exposing the society by the means of personal interaction with the less successful
categories of population (Jeffrey 411). The author has always been promoting positive attitude toward the position in society and opportunities
associated with it. "So, you're unhappy about your job; you have a right to be unhappy about that", claims the author in an interview (Conniff 34). In
her works, she emphasizes on the rents of society that seem to have strong effect in all aspects of life. She does not talk about the people who live
happily because they represent the minority of the US citizens. She contributes to the American dream in the form of support to the working class that
is usually a victim of social and economical processes. If native citizens experience difficulties in employment and struggle for the work benefits, then
visitors and immigrants may probably have even worse situation within the given issue. Besides, the world economic crisis has negatively affected the
employment rates in the country depriving many people in various industries from their work places. Many of them now are far more distant from the
accomplishment of the American dream than they have been before. But even in the times of stable economics in the country, the values of

Persuasive Essay On Dress Code
Dress code is one of the most talked about topics amongst parents of children in school and teens. Some schools have a reasonable dress code but
others are just out of line. Kids all around the world are being sent home and suspended because of the way they dress. Education is so much more
important than the way someone is dressed so it does not make sense for teachers and staff members to cut into a kid's education just because they are
not dressed to some people's satisfaction. Although dress code is something all schools should have, some schools take it out of hand. For example, in
Sicklerville, New Jersey, an eight year old little girl was not only sent home from school but was suspended for a day fFor being out of dress code.
Yyou would think that she would have been wearing a shirt with a curse word on it or be in her bathing suit because of how harsh her punishment was,
but no. Tthis little child was sent home because she was wearing thea wrong shade of green. Some of her teachers felt that her shirt was not dark
enough so they cut into her education and embarrassed her all because of a plain, collared, light green shirt.
In a like manner, an senior at Westside High School in Dayton, Idaho, wore a dress that hit mid– thigh on her last day of school. Her school not only
dress coded her but they threatened to take her diploma. They would rather mess up a girl's education and future over something like the dress she's

White Collar Crime
Welcome to the age of white collar crime. A time when the words thieves and businessmen go hand in hand. White collar criminals don't get their hands
dirty in their work. They use their heads to get what they want instead of using a little muscle. These criminals are just as dangerous as the rapists and
murderers. In these times, even the most seemingly respectable people are suspected of white collar crimes. President Clinton and the first lady Hillary
Clinton have been tangled up in the Whitewater and Travelgate business ventures. Although the two have not been formally charged with any
wrongdoing, there is a committee currently investigating their dealings and charges are not out of the question for either of them. In Michael Isikoff's...

These people have more opportunities to commit a white collar crime than a person with little authority. Peter Michelmore, a journalist for Readers
Digest describes this situation well in his article, "On the Trail of a Scam" He describes a savings and loan scam and the man behind it all.
"Meyer learned that New Era was run by John G. Bennet, Jr., a 57 year old evangelical Christian." (112) New Era was a getting money from a
private university, in which he promised huge returns on their investment. New Era did show them huge profits, but only to gain their trust and
invest more money. The private university was gaining trust in New Era and investing more money. Finally, when They had invested a large sum of
money, New Era collapsed and John Bennet walked away with the university's money. Mr. Bennet is a prime example of our findings. He is a man
over the age of eighteen and he is in a position of power. People have entrusted him with their money. To commit his crime, he needed to be in a
position where he was trusted, or in authority. After he won their trust, he took their money. White collar crimes are growing at an alarming rate and
must be curbed. There are many things that the nation can do to slow the growth of these crimes. The white collar crime that affects the most people is

Winn Dixie Book Report

  • 1. Winn Dixie Book Report This story is mostly about a ten year old girl named Opal. she wants friends because she is new in Naomi, Florida. She also wants her mama, who left her when Opal was only 3 years old. In the book, Opal learned that she can't hold onto something that wants to go. It all started when Opal went to the grocery store and rescued Winn–Dixie. She saw that a stray dog was running around the store, and Opal claimed that the dog was hers so it wouldn't go to the pound. Opal took the dog home and tried to convince her father (the preacher), to let her keep Winn–Dixie. Since her father is a preacher and helps less fortunates, he let Winn–Dixie stay. Winn–Dixie helped Opal with a lot of problems that she's having because she is new in Naomi. Throughout the summer, Winn–Dixie helps Opal make a lot of friends. For example, Ms. Franny, the librarian, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When everyone finally arrived, it started pouring, so everyone went into Gloria's house. But then, Gloria Dump calls her back to the house and tells her, "There ain't no way you can hold on to something that wants to go, you understand? You can only love what you got whileyou got it." After Gloria said that to Opal, she ran off with the preacher to look for Winn–Dixie. They called his name over and over again, but they couldn't find him. This reminded Opal of her mama, so she asked the preacher if her mama will ever come back. The preacher said he doesn't think that she'll ever come back. The preacher and Opal walked back to Gloria's house and come inside. Opal tells everyone that she and the preacher couldn't find Winn–Dixie but then Gloria said... that they found Winn–Dixie! At UNH I have learned to always dress professionally because you never know who you are going to meet and second people will take you more seriously when you dress professionally because you look like you know what you are doing. The night before this trip I set out my nice tan breaches, my UNH equestrian polo, and my tall boots. That morning I arrived to work a little early so that I could get the horse Deelite ready to goon the trailer. Heather had asked me to do standing wraps instead of shipping boots since it was only a short smooth trailer ride. Yet again keeping in mind that appearance is everything I dressed ... • 3. Analysis Of ' A Coward 's Bravery ' A Coward's Bravery How much do you have to sacrifice to be a hero? Rachel Bublitz My Body is a one act futuristic play in which a man, Patrick, applies to the government to have a collar that controls his body removed. In a ploy to regain his self–respect and right to his body, Patrick is faced with a moral dilemma. Arthur Miller's "Tragedy and the Common Man" claims that tragedy is felt by readers when a character is willing to risk it all by "laying down his life" (267) in order to obtain their rightful position. While Patrick does argue for his right to his body, when he is faced with the possibility of "permanent methods of containment" (Bublitz 331) he ends his fight to reclaim his dignity. Is Patrick still considered a tragic hero even though his bravery was limited? According to Miller's theory he would not be, however his character allows the audience to reflect on their own coward bravery while he highlights the injustice within the world of the play and reality. Patrick's character development throughout the play is a reflection of his degrading environment in a society that is hostile to men. As a result, Patrick goes through states of submissiveness and frustration qualifying him as a hero. According to Elinor Fuchs "Visit to a Small Planet: Some Questions to Ask a Play", the social world of a play constructs not only the story it tells, but the characters it hosts. In My Body, it is revealed that the world Patrick lives in oppresses men. Until they are married ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Essay About Training For Dogs Start Leash Training for Dogs With These Tips Some people would think that dogs innately know how to behave when they are leashed. Unfortunately, this is one of the many struggles of some dog owners. Although there are breeds that can easily just surrender themselves to be leashed, some breeds may just want to have their freedom. However, there will always come a time that your dog needs to be on a leash, particularly when you want to go outdoors and make sure that your four–legged body would not be accidentally hit by a car or just get lost from too much curiosity of the environment. Training your dog to walk on a leash may not be as easy, despite being so gentle with your pet. Here are a few tips that can help you train your dogs to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A bolt snap clip has a small spring inside a shaft that slides open to create a hole to let the collar ring pass through. This is more commonly used, however, after using the clip for a long time can result in loosing of the spring which can let your dog escape. A trigger snap clip, on the other hand, is bigger and more robust. Therefore, between the two clips, the trigger snap clip is more reliable. Steps on How to Train Your Dog with a Leash It is best to start leash training while your dog is just a few months old. This way, puppies are much easier to train. 1.Once you have chosen the right leash, take your time in training your dog. Get your dog familiar having a collar around its neck. Never try to force it on the dog in situations where your dog is fearful or having tantrums. You can slip it on while your dog is busy playing. Make sure that the collar is snug enough, but not too tight that could make your dog uncomfortable. In time, your dog will feel comfortable having the collar and leash on him. 2.If your dog scratches on the collar, it may mean that he is getting uncomfortable. This is normal. Instead of taking it out, make him busy by playing with him so he forgets about having to scratch the collar. 3.Let your dog run around with the leash on his collar. This will slowly make him comfortable and would easily associate having the leash during his playtime. So, the next time he sees you holding the leash, instead of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Marriage of Catholic Priests Essay The Catholic Church, being nearly 2,000 years old, still follows many of the same rules and guidelines established in the early church. One item that many Catholics are surprised to learn is that the tradition of priests and other clergy members remaining celibate has not always been present in the church. There are many Catholics, in and out of the clergy, who believe that priests should have the ability to get married and raise a family. In fact, priestly celibacy is not a church law, but, as Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone says it is a "positive tradition," and not "untouchable" (France–Pressez). However, some critics of the practice would argue that celibacy is not a positive tradition, and that in fact it is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It seems like a simple decision for the church to make: Make celibacy optional, recruit much–needed new priests. A few of the branches of theCatholic Church in Eastern Europe allow their priests to be married. The Vatican allows the marriages to keep church members from converting to Orthodox Christianity, the dominant religion in that part of the world. A recent article in The New York Times profiles Reverend Yuriy Volovetskiy, the priest at a Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church. Volovetskiy is married and has six children. He says that being married helps him better relate to his parishioners. He says having children has helped him become a part of society. It is easier for him to explain things to his parish if he has actually lived through them. Volovetskiy also says that celibacy is unnatural, and that no one can escape from having a sexual life (Levy). Many priests, after taking the vow of celibacy, discover that they can't suppress their sexual feelings towards others. Many priests have secret relationships that they hide from their parish. Good Tidings is an organization set up by a woman and her husband, a former Catholic priest, to help priests who have fallen in love to decide whether to leave the priesthood. The organization has been contacted by almost 2000 women who were sexually involved ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. A Tale of Sin and Atonement Essay The Beautiful Vampire– A tale of sin and atonement? In Theophile Gautier's The Beautiful Vampire, he is very subtle in presenting the sins committed. Although all of the characters in this story commit various sins, the sins of Romuald are the sins primarily focused on. This sinning of Romauld is very unique in that he is a ordained priest who should be one of the last people to commit these sins. It is this reason that makes the story what it is and draws the readers in initially. The first sin that the reader witnesses is during Romauld's ordainment ceremony. Instead of keeping his head bowed, as one should during prayer, he raises his head and spots the beautiful Clarimonde (Gautier 231). If Romauld would have stayed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Romauld's temptation into evil is very much like that of the temptation of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. He does not realize that it is actually evil enticing him just as eve did not realize that the serpent was an evil being. Romauld's lusting for Clarimonde becomes more evident when he is taken to be with her dead body (244). This lusting over a dead body is very disturbing to many readers for two different reasons. The first of these reasons is the fact that a celibate priest is having these sexual attractions towards a woman. A priest, one of the holiest men of God should be able to control his ungodly desires if anyone can. The second reason for this disturbance is the face that he is lusting over the body of a dead woman. Although we find out later that she has been dead all along, not just in her chamber, the idea of necrophilia is a very disturbing concept to most people. After she is found not to be dead, Romauld continuously wonders what would have happened if he was not a priest. Would they be lovers? Would they be married? Or would they even be together at all? This questioning of his life's choices is very similar his previous thoughts of renouncing God and these thoughts appear to continue to arise throughout the story which makes the reader wonder if this many is even holy at all. Later in the story, Romauld mentions how he is able to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Jim Daniels' Poetry Jim Daniels' Poetry Jim Daniels may not write poetry as eloquently as one would expect, but his style matches the subject matter he writes about perfectly. Indeed, it is this unrefined colloquial style, which allows Mr. Daniels to capture the essence of working class Detroit and relay it to the reader. His words may be somewhat coarse and he does not hesitate to use profanity, but one is still able to find beauty in his writing. The same can be said about the working class society, in which Jim Daniels was born and raised. At first glance, the Blue–Collar landscape of Detroit Michigan, with its dilapidated factories and toxin belching smokestacks, may seem coarse and profane. Yet, when one looks closer it is not hard to find beauty... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Throughout his poems, Mr. Daniels illustrates one of the most beautiful aspects of Blue–Collar society. This is the sense of camaraderie between members of the working–class: the "us against the world" attitude. In "My Grandfather's Tools" he writes, "...showing the engineers how things really worked." (3). There is an air of disdain for management in this sentence, which serves as a bond between working men. The very title of his poem, "For People Who Can't Open Their Hoods" (66), infers a total lack of respect for people who have never done physical labor or are not mechanically inclined. This universal lack of respect for those who have not engaged in manual labor serves as a bond between those who have. Anyone who has ever worked in a factory, plant, or on a construction jobsite is aware of the fact that this attitude is prevalent amongst the working class. In plants and factories, engineers and foremen are hated and on construction jobsites, architects and superintendents are despised. The basis for this attitude is more than just economics; it is a mixture of economics and machismo. Engineers, architects, managers, and inspectors do not do the hard physical work; in fact, they do not actually produce anything, yet they usually earn more money and definitely more respect than those who do. They draw up the plans and designs, but they do not implement them. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Oscar formulated an old family recipe with flavorful hops and barley that developed to become what is now known as West Virginia's beer. Blue Collar Brilliance, By The Belgian Constitutional Court Blue Collar Brilliance According to Eurofound, "In 1993, the Belgian Constitutional Court ruled that the employment status of blue–collar and white–collar workers was discriminatory, due to discrepancies in working conditions and entitlements." In the twentieth century, a status was created between two kinds of workers: white collar and blue collar. An individual's level of education doesn't always determine exactly how smart one truly is. An individual's level of education does not determine how smart a person is because not every job requires a college degree and not everyone can perform a blue collar or white collar job. WHAT DO YOU THINK??? In late 2007, an ongoing financial crisis occurred with many calling it the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression in the 1930s. Many people were left unemployed through 2007 to 2009. By late 2009, the market began to look better for many citizens. Mike Rose is an American education scholar, studied literacy and the struggles of working– class America in 2009. Those who still had their job were battling against the recession as well. • 14. Short Story : A Story It's the year 125 T.E., and it was a pleasant day in the small town of Rieux, France. The sun was shining behind scattered clouds, as they slowly drifted across the bright blue sky. As Riya made her way down the busy streets of the Rieux market district, she couldn't help but notice the inquisitive looks the shop owners and customers gave her. Though she was used to people staring at her shiny metal appendages, it always made her feel very self–conscious. She averted her eyes to the ground as she pulled the sleeves of her ebony black hoodie down over her forearms, and shoved her metal hands into the pockets of her dark wash jeans. After turning down an alley way, she made her way across the street to her apartment which was above her mother's small cafГ©. Riya stepped into the cafГ© and was immediately hit with the scent of coffee and blueberry muffins, along with the quiet chatter of the customers. As she entered the kitchen in the back of the cafГ©, she was greeted by her mother with a big hug. "Riya, welcome home darling, how was school?" her mother asked with a warm smile. "Eh, you know, the usual." Riya responded flatly. Her mother gave her a sympathetic look. "You know if those kids tried getting to know you, they'd be able to see past you being a cyborg." She said in a frustrated tone. "You and I both know how society feels about cyborgs mom, nothing will change their minds." • 15. The Significance Of White Collar Crime, And White Collar... When we hear the word 'crime,' we automatically assume that it involves criminal or civil crimes. These crimes usually involve people in robberies, murders, or even injuries. However, there are also crimes that are committed by a company or a business. Business crimes or white collar crimes are crimes committed by a businesses or government professional. These crimes are often committed using confidential information attained by an individual to commit fraud. There are diverse types of white collar crimes, including tax fraud, telemarketing fraud, and insider trading. White collar crime was first introduced by Edwin Sutherland in a presidential address to the American Sociological Society in 1939. During this address, he discussed the importance of these crimes and why they should be considered crimes (Shover 133). The reason that these crimes are often overlooked or not discussed are because of the difference in backgrounds and characteristics of the parties involved. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) was established to carry out duties to the Secretary of Treasury. Under Code Sec 7801, the Secretary of Treasury reserves the right to establish any agency to help enforce revenue laws (Rettig 59). Thus, the IRS Criminal Investigation Unit was created on July 1, 1919, for the sole purpose of investigating claims of tax fraud (The History of IRS Criminal Investigation (CI)). • 16. Celibacy in the Ministry of the Catholic Church Introduction The church has a large influence over the people, from the ancient times up until our modern age. The church, as we know it, is composed of various members who all contribute to fulfill a holy calling, and one of its constituents, who work closely with the public, are the priests. They make up the embodiment of the Catholic Church, their very existence is what makes the church operate as it is, meaning that they have an essential role to the Catholic system. With this in mind, priests represent the very image of the church so issues associated with the priests are also identified in relation to the church. As of now, there have already been various matters concerning the conduct of priests instigated by society. One of these said issues are Celibacy is the act of abstinence from marriage implicitly or explicitly made, for a more immaculate devotion to chastity, by all those who are a member of the Holy Order. Priestly celibacy has been observed by the Church for centuries with a high recognition, and retains its value undiminished even in our time when the outlook of men and the state of the world have undergone such profound changes. Amid the modern stirrings of opinion, a predisposition has been expressed, to ask the Church to reconsider this specific convention. It is said that in the world of our time the observance of celibacy has come to be difficult or even impossible. Necessity One of the main reasons why it is necessary is because everyone is ... • 17. Analysis Of `` Blue Collar Brilliance `` By Gerald Graff Equivalence of Intelligence Academic work should not define intelligence nor should a job define ability; a person, regardless of grades, degrees, or job title, is an intellect. Together, Gerald Graff, a coauthor of They Say I say, professor, and former anti –intellect, author of "Hidden Intellectualism," and Mike Rose, professor, author, and in depth thinker, author of "Blue–Collar Brilliance," share two different perspectives on what an intellect truly is. Yet, both writings hold meaningful points and experiences to prove who qualifies to be an intellect. Society continuously focuses on what leads to a successful and rounded life: go to school, graduate, go back to school, get a degree, and then a job. It is believed that these high expectations of higher academics enables one to be more successful is correct; however, it is not. It is a person's individual goals that give them the success they wish to have whether that be education, volunteering, or donating. Also, street smarts is not to be overlooked; a person with common sense can know more than a Doctor. Typically, a person can have either common sense or intelligence, not both. Street smarts is, without a doubt, a superior quality to possess as it encompasses more in life than just a degree does. For example, it is more appropriate to know how to cross a street properly in life than know how to perform a craniotomy. Furthermore, one does not gain knowledge and life lessons through school alone, but through experience, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 18. People Like Us, Social Class People like Us, Social Class in America Last class we watched an informative documentary named "People like Us, Social Class in America". America is known to be a country defined by class. Throughout the movie it showed different opinions on what class was based on by different people and the answers varied from looks, house size, career choice, race, manners, upbringing, and education. As we move through life, most times we remove ourselves from different people not in our class to then live amongst those who share similar backgrounds and who we are most comfortable with. As stated, "if there is class, there is an inequality one cannot explain and it perpetuates itself". Revealing class can expose hope, fears, prejudice and a myriad of different emotions that we may not all be comfortable speaking about. I feel as if part two and part three were most applicable to myself because they are something that I have experienced both directly and indirectly. Part two of the documentary which was labeled as "High and Low" struck out to me the most. This part brought up issues that we can all for the most part say we have at least saw in our daily lives. This section also brought up some of the many struggles that African–Americans have to deal with every day. For example, two women brought up the point that the label "Bourgeois" is a constant problem within black America. • 20. History Of Insider Trading Incident Of The Berkshire... Introduction Insider trading is a very serious crime that occurs when information is shared about future decisions to get financial gain and then act upon it. Information of this caliber should be public knowledge so that everyone has an equal opportunity to make their investment decisions. An analogy would be if someone gained the answers to the final test and used them while everyone else has an unfair disadvantage. A rather large insider trading incident occurred with Raj Rajaratnam and Rajat Gupta. Gupta told Rajaratnam about a deal going on for preferred stock purchase for Goldman Sachs by the Berkshire Hathaway company. The information was given before any public announcement about the deal was made. This inside tip allowed Rajaratnam time to buy preferred stocks from Goldman Sachs and make a hefty profit from the information given to him. Rajaratnam and Gupta were eventually caught by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The FBI had been recording their conversations over the telephone which were wiretapped. Rajaratnam and Gupta were both found guilty and received prison sentences. The dynamic duo were also required to pay a fine and as expected, both tried to appeal the court 's decision. This is a prime example of a white collar crime versus being a street crime; no physical violence was used to commit the crime. Another way to differentiate a white collar crime is that both Rajaratnam and Gupta had successful careers on wall street, and both ended up ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 24. Effects Of Robots In The Workplace Robots and Jobs The debate over whether robots are helping or hurting the workplace is more heated than ever. Advances in technology are soaring thus making an increase in the use of robots in the workplace more and more commonplace. Some believe the use of robots in the workplace can never totally result in the loss of jobs, but due to the fact that robots have invaded the workplace environment, many people fear this indicates replacement of human jobs. Although advancement in technology of robotics and artificial intelligence may offer precision, productivity, efficiency and flexibility, the loss of human jobs will be devastating to the many people who depend on their jobs to make a living and provide for their families. Even as far back as the Industrial Revolution of the 1700's, technology has altered the essence of the workplace and has taken away jobs within the system (Rotman). Since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution, economists have speculated what impact the advancement in technology would have on the human labor workforce. One economist, John Maynard Keyes predicted that technology would lead to the loss of jobs and several decades later, another noted economist Wasilly Leontief forecasted the relevance of labor would no longer be a factor (Fitzgerald). Leaders in the Catholic church such as Priests, Nuns, Bishops and Popes vow to remain celibate and follow a marriage with God and the Church rather than a spouse. It is interesting to discover whether celibacy has any impact on one's psychosexual development and on an individual's efficiency as a church leader. Description and origin of celibacy Celibacy can be defined as "popularly understood, is the state of non–marriage and/or the abstinence from sexual activity. The voluntary sacrifice of all sexual pleasure is an extreme form of religious asceticism when it is undertaken for a lifetime ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 107). The reason that celibacy is viewed as being a gift is because it is designed to be a positive rectification for priesthood and is a symbol of the growth and vision that the Kingdom of God will soon come and be one with our world (Nwaigbo, 2003, p. 108). According to Catholicism, human sexuality is primarily used as a means of procreation and is able to be reach its ultimate growth within a marriage (McGavin, 2011, p. 3). Thus, choosing a celibate lifestyle can be seen as fulfilling a religious calling in a vocational sense. chosen and stable celibacy is spoken of in "vocational" terms, as answering a religious calling (McGavin, 2011, p. 3). Celibacy can be seen as a consummation of the religious sacrament of marriage because it redirects sexuality to a religious purpose and embodies a healthy lifestyle for the culture and management of the body (McGavin, 2011, p. 3). Psycho–sexual Description of Celibacy The article written by Paul McGavin (2011) goes into detail about the scriptural belief behind this practice and the human need for sexual expression. Among these issues, masturbation is also explained from a religious standpoint. "It is clear from the general literature that psycho–sexual dysfunction and sexually abusive behavior is more prevalent among men than among women. These general observations are also reproduced in the Church, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. White Collar Crime : An Definition Of Occupational... David O. Friedrichs provided more accurate definition of occupational deviance because the term seems to be applied to activities drifted away from the original meaning of White Collar crime. It's blended with the term conventional crime. Edwin Sutherland introduced the concept of white–collar crime in 1939. There were conceptual confusions with the term occupational crime, occupational deviance, and workplace crime because these terms are combined with white–collar crime. Friedrichs (2002) defined occupational deviances as "characterized as activity undertaken for one's own gain, or to cope with workplace stress, and not for the benefit of one's employer or organization" (p.249). Quinney (1964), "Because the validity of white collar crime as a form of crime has been a subject of severe controversy, the question of conceptual clarity has largely been ignored. Today, as a result, the meaning of the concept is not always clear" (p208). Friedrichs' used Gary Green's theory to explain white–collar crime. Green described occupational crime into four types; Organizational Occupational Crime, State Authority Occupational Crime, Professional Occupational Crime, and Individual Occupational Crime. Organizational Occupational Crime is comparable to corporate crimes. Using legitimate employment in an organization as an opportunity for crime. The crime is usually environmental pollution because it involved with the corporate personnel with different levels of implementation to have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. American Dream American Dream: It is a well–known fact that the term "American Dream" first mentioned by James Trusslow Adams in 1931 (Wright 197) explains the model of an individual's ideal existence, which is applied exclusively to the US – the country full of freedoms, possibilities, and opportunities. Nowadays the fame about the American dream reached all continents, and more and more people take the concept for granted dreaming about moving to America and spending the rest of their lives in a more favourable environment compared to their own. As many US citizens, they usually ignore the fact that hard work has always served as a background in the given concept (Warschauer) and look forward to gain all amenities of existence at once. Now I would... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Let me now refer this experience to the concept of American dream. A strong contributor to the development of societal norms in America is Barbara Ehrenreich, a contemporary American writer who aims at exposing the society by the means of personal interaction with the less successful categories of population (Jeffrey 411). The author has always been promoting positive attitude toward the position in society and opportunities associated with it. "So, you're unhappy about your job; you have a right to be unhappy about that", claims the author in an interview (Conniff 34). In her works, she emphasizes on the rents of society that seem to have strong effect in all aspects of life. She does not talk about the people who live happily because they represent the minority of the US citizens. She contributes to the American dream in the form of support to the working class that is usually a victim of social and economical processes. If native citizens experience difficulties in employment and struggle for the work benefits, then visitors and immigrants may probably have even worse situation within the given issue. Besides, the world economic crisis has negatively affected the employment rates in the country depriving many people in various industries from their work places. Many of them now are far more distant from the accomplishment of the American dream than they have been before. But even in the times of stable economics in the country, the values of ... • 36. Timmy's Island: A Short Story It was a crisp morning on Newport Island, or Timmy's Island as Timmy liked to think of it. Timmy Newport was chasing Dexter, the Newport family's Golden Labrador, around the island. Dexter was turning 3 years old tomorrow, but the Newport family had owned him for about two and a half years. Timmy's dad, Scott Newport, had found Dexter in the market one day in Miami. Miami was on the coast of Florida and was an hour–long boat trip, there and back. Even though Miami was only about four miles away from Newport Island, Mr. Newport was a good rower and could get there in about 30 minutes when he rowed. Mr. Newport had to go to Miami Mondays through Fridays for work. Scott Newport was a fisherman who caught fish with his Timmy every morning. He didn't... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By the time that Mr. Newport, had told all about forgetting so many things to the new leash to talking about Jacob and was finished it was time for everyone to go to bed. The next morning Dexter put on his new leash and watched as the Newport family ate his cake. He obviously didn't eat the cake but he had his nutritional dog food. When he put on his leash the family was surprised that it was blue. "You told us it was red, like always", Timmy annoyingly said. This Mr. Newport had lied about when he was telling his story because he wanted to see the family's shock on the day that Dexter would put it on. To make sure the plan would succeed he also took off the collar right before he and Dexter had reached the island and put it under his bed. The rest of the day was amazing because Timmy and Lydia behaved when they were playing with Dexter. This made Dexter have the most preeminent birthday than anyone he had ever had. • 38. Persuasive Essay On Dress Code Dress code is one of the most talked about topics amongst parents of children in school and teens. Some schools have a reasonable dress code but others are just out of line. Kids all around the world are being sent home and suspended because of the way they dress. Education is so much more important than the way someone is dressed so it does not make sense for teachers and staff members to cut into a kid's education just because they are not dressed to some people's satisfaction. Although dress code is something all schools should have, some schools take it out of hand. For example, in Sicklerville, New Jersey, an eight year old little girl was not only sent home from school but was suspended for a day fFor being out of dress code. Yyou would think that she would have been wearing a shirt with a curse word on it or be in her bathing suit because of how harsh her punishment was, but no. Tthis little child was sent home because she was wearing thea wrong shade of green. Some of her teachers felt that her shirt was not dark enough so they cut into her education and embarrassed her all because of a plain, collared, light green shirt. In a like manner, an senior at Westside High School in Dayton, Idaho, wore a dress that hit mid– thigh on her last day of school. Her school not only dress coded her but they threatened to take her diploma. They would rather mess up a girl's education and future over something like the dress she's wearing. They would rather embarrass her and cause ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. White Collar Crime Welcome to the age of white collar crime. A time when the words thieves and businessmen go hand in hand. White collar criminals don't get their hands dirty in their work. They use their heads to get what they want instead of using a little muscle. These criminals are just as dangerous as the rapists and murderers. In these times, even the most seemingly respectable people are suspected of white collar crimes. President Clinton and the first lady Hillary Clinton have been tangled up in the Whitewater and Travelgate business ventures. Although the two have not been formally charged with any wrongdoing, there is a committee currently investigating their dealings and charges are not out of the question for either of them. New Era did show them huge profits, but only to gain their trust and invest more money. The private university was gaining trust in New Era and investing more money. Finally, when They had invested a large sum of money, New Era collapsed and John Bennet walked away with the university's money. Mr. Bennet is a prime example of our findings. He is a man over the age of eighteen and he is in a position of power. People have entrusted him with their money. To commit his crime, he needed to be in a position where he was trusted, or in authority. After he won their trust, he took their money. White collar crimes are growing at an alarming rate and must be curbed. There are many things that the nation can do to slow the growth of these crimes. The white collar crime that affects the most people is the scam. For that reason, scam prevention will be emphasized more than embezzlement.
