1. The hypothalamus secretes gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) at puberty which activates the anterior pituitary gland. 2. The anterior pituitary then produces and secretes follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH) which travel to the testes. 3. At the testes, FSH acts on Sertoli cells to stimulate sperm production while LH stimulates Leydig cells to secrete testosterone which further stimulates sperm production and promotes secondary male sex characteristics.
