Stock Settings
The first setting is in the man’s
house which signifies he may be
traditional as we can see a chess
game on the table. This can tell you
about his personality .The second
setting is in a different mysterious
house where a body is found with
blood over the walls. This creates
tension and creates and enigma.
Lastly, the characters are seen
outside on the streets near to
where the body was found. There
are bars around the building which
connotes people may feel trapped
and enclosed.

Characters
Investigators and detectives are
seen as the hero’s as they are
trying to find out what has
happened. This signifies they are
good people and want to help,
therefore they can also be seen as
the helper. The ambulance team
may be seen as helper as they take
care of the body and help the
investigators.

Themes
Someone has died which connotes
sadness and mystery as you want
to know what it happened. Also, an
investigation has taken place which
is usually common in a crime
thriller. Mystery is portrayed by the
blood on the walls and the dead
body as nobody knows what has
happened. Isolation is used at the
beginning as there is a man by
himself which connotes lonliness.

Tension is created when the
characters are in the building where
the body was found as they don’t
know how is happened. This
connotes mystery and enigma. It

Iconography
One of the characters is carrying a
gun which signifies danger and
power. A mirror is used when the
first man is putting on his tie to
connote importance and also
running water is used at the
beginning which creates a tense
atmosphere.
