3. STRUCTURE
1. Introduces the audience to the narrative of diamond heist and the
underlying boxing plot, this is done through the narration of a key
character, Turkish.
2. Titles saying ‘where is the stone’ and ‘your going down’
accompany the dialogue. These introduce us to the disruption in
the films equilibrium.
3. The actors are introduced as their characters in a postmodern
style- pastiche cowboy western titles are used.
4. Main film title shown.
4. CAMERA WORK AND MISE-EN-SCENE
CAMER WORK
•There are lots of zoom outs and flashes of the diamond to show the importance of
it to the narrative
•Low angle shot of Bullet Tooth Tony to show the power and strength of his
character. We will use the camera to achieve shots that make our scenes intense
and interesting, as we do not have expert acting or editing.
MISE-EN-SCENE
•Costume is used to help establish the characters and their stereotypes. Cousin
Avi, an American jeweller, is in a much more stereotypically American suit in
comparison to the dressed down suits the British characters are wearing.
•Guns are shown in the very first scene, immediately telling the audience the
narrative genre.
•Sets of boxing training room and arena look run down and illegal helping establish
narrative
5. EDITING
• Transitions between each scene are very fast, this imitates the fast
paced music playing over the trailer.
• Some of the shots on screen turn, and slide onto and of the screen
again giving the trailer a more postmodern feel.
• Time mapping is used to accentuate actions.
• Still frames turn from normal image to stylised graphics, with
overlaying cowboy western fonts. I think we will use this idea of
still frames to introduce our actors/characters.
6. SOUND
• Voice over from character Turkish explaining setting the narrative
plot. The audience can establish from this the comic sub-genre to
the film. We might use a voice over from one of our characters.
(see also Inside Man)
• Dialogue from characters- at times carefully cut so scenes fit
together. Dialogue also sets narrative and establishes characters.
• Fast paced music which helps keep the trailer exciting, imitating
the quick flashes of scenes and editing processes.
• Sound effects of ‘fast forwarding’ accompany the editing
