• News tv programmes are highly significant as they
inform people issues around the world. They also let
viewers know what latest issues are taking place in
their country.
• Television has become a booming form of
entertainment over the years, newspapers have slowly
been in decline as people can now watch the news on
tv as this is an easier form.

show, informing the news to the audience
• Studio set - this is where the news presenters will be sitting when
telling the news

place or have images/graphics relevant to the certain reports
when the host is speaking
• Outside broadcast - This is the scene of the story of where it’s

For BBC Midlands today , the introduction
shows us a variety of attractions at
Birmingham to inform the audience what
area the news is manly focused on.
As you can see there is an edit of the
Birmingham Library then it quickly cuts to
other attractions such as the Bullring in
Birmingham. Lastly it cuts to the logo to
show the audience again the target for the
news.

After the introduction we are shown one of the main
headline news, as you can see there is a collage of
images linking to the report about hospitals in the UK
forming together. Though the speaker is not present,
the audio can be heard while the images are shown.
This news footage is filmed specially for this report
which can be considered as a rush. Not to mention, a
bug has been used which is seen at the top right on the
screen as a logo to inform the viewers. There is a cut
edit which goes onto the second image of one of the
patients in heartland hospital to speak about the
specific report. This keeps the audience entertained
and informed by presenting different opinions. Next we
have another cut of the chief executive which was
shown at the start to hear about her opinion and the
changes made to relate to the report. They have used
a close up and midst to present the people to show the
surroundings of the hospital. The target audience for
this news is many for adults as it mainly focuses on
topics that would be in interest for them.

In the beginning we are shown the main news
reporter Tom Bradby, a midshot is used to show the
background to give an idea to the viewer of what
may be covered in the news programme. The
reporter is seen wearing a suit to look well presented
instead of casual to show approve the audience.
There is a cut to one of the main reports that will be
covered which would be about Brexit, the camera
slowly zooms into the woman’s face to give a clear
image of her importance. Again a bug has been
placed on the top left to remind the audience what tv
programme they are watching. There is then a
transition which moves to the house of parliament
continuing on the same report but in a different
perspective. A wide what of the parliament is shown
to show the event of whats going on and to show
different reactions relevant to the report and
although the report is not seen the audio can still be
heard.

For the introduction of Good Morning Britain the presenters
are shown so they audience can have an idea of who is
speaking and covering the main stories. The box out has
been placed to show the required information of their names
not to mention a form of convergence by including their
twitter name for the audience to follow if interested. Again a
bug has been placed but instead it is on the right bottom
corner, yellow has been used so that it stands out within the
screen and is easily recognisable. We are shown the top
story of today and again a box out is used to highlight the
text. A vignette and sepia effect has been used to focus on
vaz, the brown suggests and black used may indicate that
the report may involve him doing something bad. A wipe is
used to show the breaking news and entertainment use, as
you can see they have organised the reports to certain
categories to make it presentable. A two shot is used for the
entertainment report to show that an interview is taking place
with the actress and the two are smiling giving the audience
some interest as it may be funny and can be seen as
welcoming

The theme introduction fades into the news room
with the reporter Jenny speaking about the main
breaking news. A cutaway shot has been used on
the second image to show the screen in the
background which is used to show the breaking
news. The anchor uses hand gestures to engage the
audience and she is seen smiling to make the
audience feel welcoming. A montage of images are
then shown on the programme and each one slowly
fades to another to give the viewers an insider on the
events of the Rio Olympics 2016. An establishing
shot it also used to show Rio itself and the camera
also pans to show a more wider view of Rio and its
surroundings.
A bug is used to show what programme the
audience is watching, this can be seen on the top left
corner.
